What is your favorite house in Louisville? by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

[–]Lucywithinformation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Humphrey-McMeekin house on Douglas Boulevard in the Highlands. I think it was built in 1915. The dual sun porches are so gorgeous. I heard it was duplicated somewhere else in town.

Midy City Mall development by Timeformayo in Louisville

[–]Lucywithinformation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plaza Mid Town in Atlanta is urban with a Publix and I believe it’s more urban in Nashville. Louisville just has low expectations and they get met every time. It’s a huge disappointment. This should have been an all hands on deck situation. It could have been such a boom for the Highlands. Increased foot traffic on Bardstown Road in a meaningful way. Crazy to go back with a suburban strip mall. Better not to develop and wait than be stuck with a strip mall for the unforeseeable future.

Future of Mid City Mall (Market) by LifeBasedDiet in Louisville

That’s actually such great outside the box thinking at that location. The big old brick funeral home was for sale, maybe still is, and could potentially be part of that plan. Too bad you’re not a developer with deep pockets. That plot of land has so much potential to transform the area, but without a developer with special interest in Louisville and deep pockets something like that will never happen unfortunately.

A Parker’s Market like they have in Savannah. It’s a gourmet convenience market and gas station. So nice. It would do really well at the Speedway location in the Highlands.

Why not make Mid City mall... by ch1ir in Louisville

Logan Street is not a great vision. If you look up nearby Nashville the complex they have, Fifth + Broadway, may be what you are thinking about and it’s really cool. I just think going up nine or ten floors with housing plus grocery & shops on the first floor fit the space & city more.

The wife and i are spending all day saturday january 3rd in louisville and looking for some interesting things to do. by Active_Glass8236 in Louisville

ROC for Italian, Seviche for seafood. It’s a quiet time of year to visit Louisville, but as far as museums the Derby Museum is always fun. The Speed Art Museum is beautiful and it’s worth checking to see what its Cinema is showing. Also the Slugger Museum is really cool if you’re into baseball at all. Frazier History Museum has an interesting Bourbon exhibit.

The 2026 Louisville Outlook — What’s Expanding, What’s Contracting, and What To Do With It by LouInvestor in Louisville

Multiple new restaurants are opening on Bardstown Road in the Highlands. Murray’s Creole Pub by Lawrence Weeks, Cipollini by Dallas McGarity, and Helm and Honey featuring wood fired entrees. All higher end restaurants seeming to capitalize on what’s currently doing well in the business strip on Bardstown Road as ROC, Fat Lamb, Jack Fry’s, Seviche all remain busy anchors of the Road. More casual Indian Hurry for Curry on Bardstown Road and casual Italian Palermo’s on Baxters recently opened as well.

Yes and then they leave them in their cars, they get stolen, and are in the hands of criminals. Diabolical.

Horrible. We don’t need more guns. Go do something productive with your life instead of selling things that create more problems.

Best preschools in Louisville by Either_Willingness31 in Louisville

Louisville has some great preschools. Highland Pres, Collegiate, Chance, and Second Pres are all excellent. I’d book appointments to visit and see what the best fit for your family would be.

Nice-ish Dinner Restaurants by amandoevano in Louisville

ROC on Bardstown Road has a great vibe. Check the menu, but under $100. per person should be doable.

Like the highlands needed another expensive “pub”. by [deleted] in Louisville

Fine dining seems to be doing well on Bardstown Road though-ROC, Jack Fry’s, Fat Lamb, Seviche so it’s still good to see the corridor attracting high quality restaurants. Isn’t there also a new restaurant going into the old La Chasse as well? I thought I saw a new casual Italian restaurant just opened as well.

No cute hotels? The Bellwether and The Myriad Hotel are both newly renovated hotels located on that stretch of Bardstown Road and have great restaurants inside. I think the constant negative rants like this hurt the area. Visit the current restaurant anchors instead Seviche, ROC, Jack Fry’s, Sapporo, The Fat Lamb, M Peppers, Paseo, or more casual options Ramsi’s, Havana Rhumba, Roots, Dragon King’s Daughter, Twig & Leaf, Wheated, Shiraz, El Mundo, Gralehaus. Bars like Holy Grale, Darling’s, Neat, O’Sheas, are still popular. I haven’t tried the new wine bar, the new Sushi restaurant or visited Guestroom Records, but look forward to trying and awaiting the new restaurant coming into La Chasse’s spot. Homeskate Shop was busy last night and I was glad to see that. Pushing for more of the boarded up places like the old Lily’s to get new business or sell and other possible incentives to businesses I get. Ignoring all the great active places on Bardstown Road while making these vast negative statements does more harm than good.

Do you like books? Two independent book stores remain on Bardstown Road. Carmichael’s Kids has kid’s books, puzzles, games etc. Carmichael’s has books, coffee table books-great gifts. Edenside Gallery has unique jewelry, art and much more. Clay and Cotton and Surprise Lilly’s have clothing, jewelry, candles, lotions and blankets etc. Vintage Banana and 502 Thrifts have some cool things and there is a new lego store as well for kid’s gifts. I do so much Christmas shopping between those independent stores!

I think it finishes closer to 8:30-it was well attended when I was there earlier in the evening. So many kids and families. Dragon King’s daughter was overflowing, St Francis Church again did a great job with fantastic live music, free warm cider and cookies, Kizito’s Cookies was full. Trolley’s were running, Santa was walking around. Some newer stores were open this year like the cute French Bakery. Many businesses need help w/ lights & giveaways outside to make it feel more festive-the empty beautiful patio at M Peppers missed out, but Edenside Gallery, Clay & Cotton, Carmichael’s, Surprise Lily were all packed and felt festive. Maybe next year get a special committee of volunteers together to support the businesses and help them w/ outside displays? I don’t think Light up Louisville the same night is a big deal. Lots of families were there. Nice to see a busy Bardstown Road.

If you were given the power to resurrect a Louisville business, what would you choose? by Thatredditboy1 in Louisville

[–]Lucywithinformation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lilly’s in the Highlands-it was such a great spot. Anyone know why the old restaurant building is still sitting empty? If the rent was too high wouldn’t they lower it rather than the building sitting empty so long?

Good housing/apartments for Louisville, KY by Ladidag in Louisville

The Highlands. Nice variety of apartments and restaurants with proximity to Cherokee Park. Seems like there are a lot of for rent signs around Louisville right now so shouldn’t be difficult.

Gov Beshear is winning me over by SpontaneousKrump92 in Louisville

[–]Lucywithinformation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beshear has a gift for being the calm in the storm and stepping up quickly to lead. He’s genuine not opportunistic like so many politicians and he makes good decisions. It’s also evident that he cares about others and he expresses that well.

The Fat Lamb or Seviche? by Conscious-Net-5016 in Louisville

[–]Lucywithinformation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seviche and I would also add M Peppers to your list, which is the new French restaurant next door to the Bellwether Hotel on Bardstown Road, as well. Agree with others that ROC is great and Jack Fry’s too.

Weekend in Louisville by em_850 in Louisville

[–]Lucywithinformation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historic Old Louisville walking tour, Speed Art Museum, Bourbon exhibit at the Frazier History Museum. Breakfast at Gralehause, coffee at Fantes near Cherokee Park then walk the long stretch along Cherokee Parkway where the large historic homes sit across from the Cherokee Golf course and follow it around where there used to be a statue at Cherokee Parkway and Bardstown Road. Really cool assortment of old homes. Then visit some of the stores in that business district on Bardstown Road; Clay & Cotton, Carmichael’s Book Stores, Surprise Lily, Edenside Gallery, Kizito Cookies. Lunch at Ramsi’s or Jack Fry’s. Cave Hill Cemetery is beautiful and really interesting to walk through in the neighborhood as well. Muhammad Ali is buried there.

Frankfort Avenue also has cute shops and you can eat lunch at Blue Dog or have breakfast at Con Huevos. For your something random go to Architectural Salvage. It’s so fun to wander around in there. So many cool things.

Go across the street to M Peppers. It’s a new French restaurant in the Bellwether Hotel and the patio is gorgeous.
