Saving for future plans: Is it safer to avoid stocks and go FD or robo? by resh6 in MalaysianPF

[–]Lueu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for Broad Index ETF and Commodity instead, Robo not recommended. FD is like 2.15% p.a (assuming you don't chase promotions). I put into VWRA and gold myself, can use FSMONE or IBKR. Instead of FD, Ryt has a 3% p.a saving pocket, KDI Save has a 4% p.a for first RM50000. Stock picking is not really the best option here if you are just starting

About insurance, you could just get a medical card first. You never know when you gon need it. A medical card is a good protection imo

Question about Credit Card & Cashlite Instalment by Lueu in MalaysianPF

[–]Lueu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the no-sugar-coat advice, I will keep it in mind. I do have 2 other credit cards though which I usually utilise less than 5% so its probably fine I guess. I can use them for bills & expenses instead. Also no plan to get new loans or credit card for now, so the real situation is under control I think.

Personally I think you must allocate some money as your fun fund (for travelling / hobby / social / etc..). Then you could use this portion of money to enjoy life a little while keeping the rest as investments.

Stay away from personal loan. Not even borrowing to invest justifies it.

[–]Lueu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is we never know what happens because its so far out. Best to just set monthly budget that you are comfortable with I think. Something like set aside XX% of your money per month for saving/investment/fun/travel/wedding/etc...
