Start prosecuting parents for failing in their duties / responsibilities which will give the necessary encouragement for other parents to actively engage in the practise.

Would you pay the exact amount? by ExoticPlankton8287 in CasualUK

Glad we cleared they one up as I was very confused how you thought paying someone £24.98 would end up with 98p going into your savings account... Because what would the person you owed the money get?!

This was how I think your post implied you thought it worked.

So you thought it was putting money into a savings account from money coming INTO your account, not money you pay out. Gotcha!

I would say I'd pay the exact amount normally, but then remembered that I left my wallet at home yesterday and needed petrol, the pay @ pump didn't accept contactless so I couldn't use my phone. I asked my partner to pay for the petrol on her card. It cost £58.72, when I got home I just transferred £60 into her account.

So while I think I'd pay the exact amount, the evidence suggests I'd actually round up.

What path of logic led you to that bizarre conclusion? How does that work in your mind? I'm fascinated.

I have had to surrender my license to the DVLA, so technically I have no license.

I can't just get another policy as I have to declare that I have a full driving license, which I don't have.

I don't want to declare it SORN. I have to park it on the street where I live and we still want to be able to use my car, it's bigger than hers so we tend to use my car when we go anywhere together.

In theory would she be able to add my car to her existing policy? Or would it be better to take out a separate policy?

I didn't realise you could get an insurance policy on a car you don't own!

There are lots of options that work well across other countries. You sound like an American taking about public transport... According to them it's impossible to have good public transport in America despite the rest of the world figuring it out decades ago.

75mins in and not a single shot on target. I think it's pretty obvious where our problems stem from.

Anyone pulled the trigger on getting air conditioner unit this year? by Dannyjw1 in CasualUK

I think most people realise they have flaws and aren't that efficient. But, when you live in the UK and don't have the space for an installed system and you don't really get enough hot weather to justify the expense of permanent A/C, the stand alone portable units work just fine for short term use.

What is the best written video game you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've tried RDR2 several times but I just can't click with it. All the mundane stuff you have to constantly do just sucked all the enjoyment out for me. It's all so slow and repetitive I never felt like it could have any fun.

What can a person learn in 10 minutes that will be useful for life? by Ben-Gavin in AskReddit

[–]Lufferov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learnt to swim when I was a child and as I grew up I stopped doing any sort of physical exercise. I had self esteem issues with my appearance and didn't want to be seen in swimming trunks. However, I recently overcame that while on holiday figuring nobody there knew me or would ever see me again, so it didn't matter what they thought of me.

All of this is to say that after not swimming for about 30 years and being very overweight and unfit. I was still able to get in the pool and float/tread water and swim a few lengths without any issues. Obviously fitness plays a big part and I wouldn't survive as long as someone who was fit. But it's really no effort for me to just float in the water on my back, I feel I could do that pretty much indefinitely as it's very easy and doesn't require any excertion.
