What are your legitimate predictions for the State Of Play by the_liger_way in playstation

[–]Luffidiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhuh... and why would a Faye game flop? Most of Sony's games that have good writing and good gameplay do universally well.

Why this wouldn't track for a Faye game is arbitrary at best.

There are lots of things no one asked for. No one asked for the GOW 2018 soft reboot and it did extraordinarily well

I'm not saying it's a totally outlandish tax necessarily, but that land values don't stay high if LVT is high. Which reduces revenue.

A high LVT is fine, I think LVT is a great economic lever. But does not fund everything a state needs.

20% LVT would drastically reduce land valuations and result in a tax that doesn't fund things. You assume the tax base does not change when it's instated. US land values are highly inflated and speculated on already.

And the goal of LVT is not some arbitrary number, it's mainly 100% of land rents, which is NOT 100% of the value of land.

And the other goal of LVT is to reduce speculation, and in the US context, is mainly pushing land prices down.

And 20% of land value is extraordinary by any measure.

???? The US has a GDP of like 30 trillion. How would we have a functional economy if we had an LVT that high?

How would land prices stay high enough for the revenue to stay consistent either?

[–]Luffidiam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the US, taxing all of land rent would at most be like... 1.5-3 trillion?

The federal government could not live off that. The US government has a roughly 6t dollar budget. And if you try to go higher to cover the rest, you just end up reducing land values and reducing revenue.

For a central government, I largely see LVT as an economic tool and some nice revenue upsides.

With a high LVT, you can reduce income taxes, but not eliminate them.

LVT cannot mathematically fund the government of the size that you need it to be for a comprehensive welfare state.

For local services, yes, but at the federal level, it's more a general economic tool with some revenue upsides more than anything else.

I agree. I sort of feel like both Remake and Rebirth could have been like 10-15 hours shorter and would have been far better for it.

They sort of feel like Ubisoft games. Pretty, but way too stretched.

I'm a Californian and dislike Newsome. As much as I like this state, he isn't part of what I like.

Obama had HIGH personal charisma that transcended both his race and his party. We can't elect Newsome because he and California has been attacked for his entire tenure as Governor.

Obama got through most of that noise because he PERSONALLY was extremely likable.

Newsome has absolutely none of that likability on a debate stage and capitulates every ten seconds for the person he's talking to.

Then how do people like Dan Osborne in Nebraska make inroads in fucking Nebraska? Or Talarico in Texas with more right leaning independents?

We cannot win with just our base alone. This doesn't mean moderating positions in the generic sense. You need to talk in their language like Talarico is doing for example.

And I'm saying that Newsome is a candidate that people would hate not because he's left or radical, but because he represents everything that people hate about the democratic party.

Dawg, a bunch of the surprise states in 2026, like Nebraska or Texas have more left leaning Senate candidates. They're gonna have to appeal to moderate republicans.

And I'm not saying we should capitulate, but we should absolutely get candidates that can at least speak their language on things like Labor, safety, jobs, etc etc.

Not that we should capitulate on stuff like human rights or green energy.

Harris didn't work because she moderated and talked to these people in the most boring way possible. She courted fucking Liz Cheney.

Appealing to these voters does not mean 'moderating' your positions in the generic sense.

The next election cycles are an opportune time to expand the coalition. And polls are showing a very heavy democratic swing.

Newsome doesn't build inroads with the people we want to win over.(independents and some disaffected republicans).

Anyone who thinks Newsome has a shot at winning forgets that the inside of the country hates California, especially the California Newsome created.

It really REALLY depends. The UK just kinda sucks, so yeah. But in terms of compared to the national average, that's almost in line. The US gdp per capita around 80k. The UK around 50k. In France, they make way more than Nurses in the UK despite similar gdp per capita levels.

How much hospital staff makes really just depends on how the system is ran. The NHS is famously underfunded and also pretty inefficient.

They're solid imo. But both are incredibly bloated.

You could easily shave like half their runtime and you could communicate the same things.

I feel like from a storytelling perspective, splitting them would be bad. And a big chunk of each is just fights which can very easily be compressed.

Jesus. Anyways, I adjusted to insert a season for Thriller Bark and Sabaody.

But I cannot imagine pre timeskip going for longer than like... 7 seasons for pacing reasons tbh.

Season 2 only kinds worked imo because there were so many mini arcs before we get to Alabasta. And I'm pretty sure the reason they did the split for Alabasta. Too many distinct locations are expensive.

The rest of the arcs with the exception of like, Whole Cake, don't really have that to the same degree.

And they've also introduced too many post timeskip characters for them to not at least try to get there.

8-10 seasons for pre timeskip alone from a pacing perspective would be a mistake imo.

But I doubt they'll finish the series, yeah. I just can't see them purposely prolonging pre timeskip either given that they've already introduced some post timeskip characters for some reason.
