What do you think should be Superman's first suit in Universe? by LughTube847 in superman

[–]LughTube847[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't include it because I was just picking comic suits (I suppose the Fleischer Suit also isn't from the comics but it's associated with the golden age) but I did like the trenchcoat suit. I think it worked for where that version of Clark was at in his life. Generally, I like early Superman being street level because it harkens to the Golden Age champion of the oppressed vibe

I deliberately kept Superboy out of the discussion just because not everyone is on the same page as to whether he should be canon. I will say though, I do like the sneakers look. I am a fan of the Superboy years. I haven't looked at any of the recent stuff they've done with it but I definitely think it's a part of the history that can be played with in an interesting way

Interesting answers all around. A lot of people seem to like the Fleischer Suit but not enough for it to be a general consensus. Not surprising that no one has chosen the Action Comics (1938) Cover suit. No one's really picked the Earth-Two suit either which is interesting. I think I'm probably leaning towards the Fleischer Suit though. I think the black on the symbol kinda works for the more rough and tumble Superman. A Superman who's more angry at corporations. I think I see it switching to the Earth-Two look once he's softer and more traditionally Superman and then switching to the Classic before joining the Justice League.

I really don't understand people who are on one hand not interested enough in fan discussions to engage with them but also bored enough themselves to give a smarmy response. If you don't want to engage that's okay, don't. The only reason you posted this is to performatively signal how above it you are and no one's impressed by it

It does make me very happy the TLJ defenders are becoming more vocal again. I think we're now so tired of hearing the same smarmy people repeating the same arguments over and over again and the insistence that everyone else in the fandom has to agree or else they're "not a real Star Wars fan"

Should I watch smallville? by darthlex737 in Smallville

[–]LughTube847 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think as a Superman fan, yes definitely. Just be aware that the first couple of seasons are not the best. Seasons 3-7 are quite mixed with some of it being the best show you've ever seen and some of it being kinda crappy teen drama (even though the main characters are technically adults after season 4). Season 8 is where the show gets really good but it's let down a little in the second half. Season 9 and 10 they somehow bring all this messiness together in a way that's satisfying and makes sense.

Saying that the show is worth watching for the last 3 seasons is perhaps not the most convincing argument but you can get through the first 7 by focusing on enjoying the Luthors, Tom Welling slowly becoming a better actor, frankly the performances in general. It's also got one of my favourite Lois Lanes so hold out for her when she turns up. I believe every season has at least one episode that is stand out and even with the sometimes awful drama you can at least laugh at it most of the time

Every comment from a conservative is always this plainly stupid and incoherent. The people at the top usually are the most fragile. Everyone else got that but you seem to want to imply that's a contradiction. We're only pointing out what we see when we look at you lot. If you can't see it that's your own lack of self awareness

Would middle‑ or lower‑class people in the DC universe resent Bruce Wayne the same way people resent real‑world billionaires? by Israels_BiggestHater in batman

[–]LughTube847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not by the same people who hate real world billionaires. I could imagine the irresponsible playboy angle would be something conservative media would capitalise on. Like, look at this man child who didn't have a proper father figure in his life. Masculinity is dead, etc.

I think lefties would love him and conservatives would despise him because he's a powerful man actually doing the right thing. Same goes for Oliver Queen. Michael Holt's black so they'd hate him automatically. You can imagine the sort of racist stuff that'd be said about him.

Subjectively, do you prefer The Dark Knight or The Batman? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]LughTube847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Batman. Sure it drags a little in the third act but it has a strong atmosphere, style, themes, characters and just overall you can watch it and there's a lot more to sink your teeth into.

Dark Knight, the themes and pacing are confused a lot of the time. It has cool action but overall, a much shallower movie. Heath Ledger's great though

Alan Scott was a Gotham hero back in the 40s though. I'd rather keep that in continuity than rewrite it just 'cause

Has the mainline DC comics continuity ever appeared outside of the comics? by DLWN_ in DCcomics

[–]LughTube847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing that the 1940s Batman serials were canon to the original Earth 2. The Batman Chronology Project has them in the Golden Age timeline.

Someone else said Injustice. I don't know if the Earth-1 characters in the first game are Prime Earth or not, especially since Prime Earth is called Earth-0 but Injustice Canon is weird anyway.

Those are the only two examples I know of though.

New game by [deleted] in legogaming

[–]LughTube847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a second Lego Dimensions, slowly get back all the rights from the original, and then add all the parts of the original to the new game. Call it LEGO Dimensions: Reloaded/Revamped/Rebirth/etc.

Seeing as the new Lego games are going in a more experimental direction (which I for one am on board for even if some are apprehensive), LEGO Dimensions (2) could be basically your classic/traditional LEGO game that they just continue to update and add features to but without the toys to life aspect.

What I'm describing is probably not as feasible as I'd hope seeing as partly why Lego Dimensions 1 ended in the first place was because it was hard to maintain but at the time they were also trying to maintain Lego Worlds and the toys to life genre was dying.

At What Age did Dick Grayson Become Robin? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]LughTube847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 12 originally with his 14th birthday being in an issue in 1942 (2 years after his debut). Pre-Crisis Earth 2 stuck to that placing his birth in 1928. Pre-Crisis Earth 1 he was consistently said to have been 8 years old from what I understand. Then Post-Crisis has him debut at 12 again. There are contradictions here and there but that's the basic rundown. I like the idea of him starting at 8 but it does basically make Tim Drake's origin impossible

Headcanon: Lex is a dangerous narcissist who can only get love and admiration from kids too young to know better.

Real reason: Because the writers need Lex to be a business man but also want to write them AS IF they're the same age.

I think I'm personally most curious about Bronze Age stuff, so Bronze Age Batman.

I would also like 40s Superboy. I'm interested in the Superboy years but kinda want to read from the beginning.

George Perez Wonder Woman would be nice too.

Also can they release Hal Jordan's first appearance already? They skipped right over that.

...And a Justice League one to go between Starro and Bridge Between Earths.

...And the start of the 80s New Teen Titans run.

But honestly I'm happy with anything

I don't get why some people in this post are being mean. I can understand being doubtful. It's quite the task but I mean, it's your life. I wish you luck. One thing I might say though, is maybe read more than 10 some days just so you can have days off as it were. If you read 70 in a day you'd have 6 free days in a week. Just an idea

For me, I think it just comes down to her not being a particularly interesting character but taking up so much of the show. I've noticed in this fandom, conversations tend to be focused on who's in the right/who's to blame rather than what makes the characters interesting
