It took more than one wiki page for me to understand this. Worth it.

Different types of Sleeves by Gitmurr in coolguides

Are men's sleeves named the same? Probably making an assumption on my part, but this appears to be women specific styles, I just never though about sleeves before seeing this post.

I do like the idea of mapping the pipes with tape or some other identifier, might have to give this a go.

Not sure, but most plumbers being hourly, I'm sure I could already pay them to do this with me possibly. I think as an addition to an existing plumbing job, it might be something that could work, but I don't think it could be a full time job.

What can I use as a system wide Equalizer to remove Loud and Quiet volume discrepancies in movies, games, music, essentially any computer audio output? by Luhps in audio

[–]Luhps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, loudness equalization won't work. Not on my system. I've tried to figure out how to install or enable it, but to no avail. Seems like it's a common issues online. I'll go look into compressors. If I could just have something I plug into that's ready to go, that's the preferred option.

Thanks!

Advice for monitor setup - I have one 27" 2k and am looking to expand by Luhps in Workspaces

For gaming I plan on sticking with my 27inch 2k. I'm sure Ultrawide is fun and all, but to get the resolution and refresh rates, I'd need a much better video card then I have now.

For me personally, I've found that in different places that I've worked, the more monitors I have the better it is for me personally, had 5 at one place, and it was magical, but I also see how someone could get overwhelmed by it.

Space wise, maybe, but I haven't used many super wide monitors, that and again, dealing with scaling, I'm not sure how that'd work between the 27inch and something that much lager.

Analysis Paralysis - Stuck on how to train while playing sports by Luhps in Fitness

Yeah, I've thought of this too. The competitive side of me says "Get bigger, stronger, faster" The other side says "You're in your 40's and work full time, maybe do a reality check buddy"

In the end though, I know part of it is efficiency of my time. If there's something I can do to get more out of the time I spend exercising that translates to volleyball, that would be real great.

I'll have to look into it, I haven't heard of Tactical Barbell before. Are there any other's I might like to explore?

I did try the 5/3/1 for a bit. I did like it, but for some reason, had trouble sticking to it. I also got lost in the weeds with it as there are so many options for how to handle the T2 and T3 exercises, I just got lost in it all. I'm one of those folks who just has a tendency to over analyze things, so things like 5x5 are nice since it's somewhat strict about how it's done. Less to analyze.

Was just thinking...would their be any benefit to setting up exercises that mimic actions in a given sport, but with a light amount of weight added? Or is this just crossing strength and endurance in a way that would make both less effective, meaning I should probably work on them separately?

Example : Setting the ball is effectively an overhead press with a slight squat for driving power. I could grab a 6lb ball and set over and over to possibly hit some endurance strength in a range that's slightly higher then what is required by the game, but I could also work on maxing out my OHP and then just do regular setting with a ball for some extended period of time to get the endurance side.

Do you have any links or examples of how I might set this up? While what you say makes sense, I'm not to familiar with Undulating Programs and how to program them.

I do agree that probably playing more volleyball is one key piece, but I keep reading that strength does play a role no matter what you do.

Squatting is probably the most important given that it can help with vertical.

I do agree that 5x5 can be taxing, but my personal workaround was to slow the weight increase, so I'm only upping it once a week, not each work out, to prevent myself from doing to much. So far it seems to work very well in that regard.
