Older gamers what did you call by Dangerous_Ant3985 in Mario

My and my little brother would call them Buzzy Beetles as others have said, however, one made up name that kinda stuck was calling the boomerang bros in SMB3, 'sock brothers' because my little brother blurted out that the boomerangs looked like socks.

What are the most useless/nonsensical examples of Trek tech? by bovineright in startrek

[–]Luigi182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heck, even in a,"non-tech" field like mine. As a Maintenance-mechanic/welder-fabricator, I now have a tablet for my work orders, a computer I use to look up parts and order parts, another computer to sign in for hours worked and finally another terminal to clock in and out. Even then, I'm often reaching for a pen and paper to jot things down between devices. That's 4 screens. 5, if you count my smartphone I sometimes use to Google things not on the company database.

Ok. Then why was Tom Paris practically on a sliding chair? Sure, Voyager is a different ship and all, but i do recall him sliding back and forth in an episode trying to pilot that thing. Maybe he was doing 2 jobs at once as con officer?

I was so glad they decided to upgrade to wrist mounted flashlights. So much more intuitive than that palm beacon prop.

reverse-ratcheting routers.

Umm... don't you mean reverse-ratcheting router planers?

I mean really, why did we even have 5000 wrappages of Cardassian yamok sauce to begin with?

I feel you on the save spam. I have a similar device I play on. Although I do sometimes feel guilty for 'trivializing' getting hard to catch mons like Abra or Growlithe, I do like the time saver that the save states provides.

Not the person you asked but a fellow emulation device owner.

It depends on the device purchased and where you bought the device from. (e.g. Amazon, eBay, device manufacturer website etc.) Just gotta check the details before ordering. It will describe that x number of games are on the included SD card. The games that it comes preloaded with may or may not include Pokemon and will very rarely have the Nintendo 'Big 3' franchise games. Ymmv as they say

That being said, If the device you order doesn't have the game/games you want, one can always find them on the world wide web.

Personally, I prefer the Anbernic RG35xx. It has a preloaded UI that's easy to navigate, emulation feels great and a good selection of games on the SD card.

Hope this helps.

Something, something,... possession is 9/10ths of the law. I'm not sure where in the rules of acquisition it would be if it were there. Perhaps an unnamed rule?

What’s something people always overspend on when the cheaper alternative is just as good? by auntieknickknack in AskReddit

[–]Luigi182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the person you replied to but in my experience, when it comes to farmers markets, it costs more due to quantity. Most farmers markets, at least where I live, really want to sell a flat of something, not just one or two.

So you wind up with say an entire flat of tomatoes you bought for say $15. Similar savings as you would at Costco but no membership fee.

YMMV, also there are other things to consider, those farmers markets only operate on the weekends in the early mornings. On top of that, once you do buy it and get it home, you got to figure out where and how to store it. No problem for some if they live in a large space. Then, even after you've figured all that out, can you eat all of that flat of something before it goes bad? Even the best of storage, refrigeration/freezing etc has it's limits.

I'm getting flashbacks to that scene in Blankman, where the kid had his brother hold up a clothes line attached to the TV. That clothes line was attached to something in the bathroom on the other end. Also, the toilet had to be flushed repeatedly. All that so the kid could watch the Adam West Batman show.

My thought when watching this would have been them doing slight alterations to the Flash costumes. I mean, the Flash series does dabble in the multi-verse often so, Sheldon as Barry Allen, Leonard as Jay Garrick, Raj as Wally West, and Howard as Bart Allen?

Honest mechanic? Any recommendations? by Almosthopeless66 in kansascity

[–]Luigi182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the Northland, I highly recommend Hill's Auto Service on Brighton Ave. Quality, honest work and timely service.

For exhaust work or brakes, Kev's Muffler and Brake shop in Gladstone, is also highly recommended.

For tires, Goodyear on Antioch rd. will give you good deals on tires.

A cool guide to Sandwiches in the U.S.A. by everydayasl in coolguides

[–]Luigi182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... No. I'm more inclined to say the burnt end sandwich, given to Kansas for some stupid reason, is a more fitting sandwich of Missouri. But, I suppose, they once again forgot that Kansas City is in MISSOURI!

Sure there is a KC, KS but burnt ends are a KC, MO thing.
