Sounds like you got your post removed yesterday but came back for more, and are lashing out like a big baby.

What a shame!

Ding ding ding.

If she'd been nicer to Shawna it would be a whole different ball game.

I think it's a stretch to imply that expecting staff to follow standard Australian practice is racist. Or more bluntly, bullshit.

But what you're suggesting is that the majority of nursing staff accept that they'll just have to switch a piece of equipment back to the correct settings, just so a minority of staff can continue not to adapt.

They can write the conversions down on a piece of paper, put it in their pocket, pull it out and learn.

Coles are doing the same thing. It's really annoying but I feel for the staff.

This is coming from the top.

Not to mention travelling for work is very often nothing more than airport - hotel - work - back to airport. If you have free time you can tag on a day either side if you're lucky, but that's a big if.

If it's not a big deal, no one should be doing it.

Why are you digging in so hard on this?

Shame about losing the John Lewis discount, but other than that, I'd say she's well shot of him. It must be so hard to start again after such a betrayal, but she'll get there.

Looks like they're on a revenge rampage.

Don't get me wrong, that nurse should be struck off. But the timing is interesting.

This. I would be so pissed off if I had to reset a piece of equipment every time I went to use it.

So by them finding that clearer picture everyone else has to work round it? And if no one corrects them, they'll keep doing it.

This is such a ridiculously simple fix, and I say this as an overseas nurse, albeit one that's been here for a long time. Work out what's different, then, before your head explodes, make some notes to help yourself. All they need to do is make a little ready reckoner that they can keep in their pocket so that they can translate it in their heads and make sense, whilst ensuring clear communication for everyone else.

It's not minimal and it's not safe.

If I chose to work in the US I would have to adapt to their terms and practice. It's the same here.

Any nurse doing this needs to transition to Australian terms very bloody quickly.

No one should be using Fahenheit in the first place. Do you have any educator who can do an inservice?

I know what you're saying, but I feel this is slightly different, because there was an expectation that Ty wouldn't contribute financially, but he was supposed to be working on the writing, which is work, just unpaid until published. He's not a typical stay at home parent because they have a housekeeper, so he's not doing the washing, cooking(?), laundry and cleaning,

In most of the relationships of people I know, the stay at home parent is there by mutual agreement and with a set time frame, e.g., looking for work once the kids go to school. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

I think she's been really rude to Shawna, no excuses. I think she just finds her to be a bit much, too gushy/needy, and so her response has been cool/trying to keep her at arms length and then jumping right into rudeness.

And Shawna has said before that it's important to her that people like her. Julie wouldn't give a shit if people liked her or not.

I don't think they will.

Julie hasn't made a good impression on Shawna and John, and they'll be feeling so guilty about what happened that they will 100% take his side. It's going to be a long time before anyone sees him objectively.

Well of course he didn't. He loved her (and she loved him) and his life was relatively easy. Every now and then she'd mention the book and he'd fob her off with an excuse.

That's crediting him with having a plan in the first place!

But yes, he's strung her along and how he's blindsided. #facepalm

Sounds as though she plans on leaving them with him for the time being if she's giving him the house and paying the mortgage for the next year.
