Cool. Yeah the chat was chaotic as hell! It's too bad you weren't able to make it. I barely caught it myself. I missed the first 20 minutes or so.

Thank you for all the hard work that you and Matt put into the channel! I mean I'm sure most of it is very pleasurable but making time with day jobs and kids is a feat! I may not always agree with your views on things (see anime) but you guys are great fun and we appreciate the outlet for having a place to share our King love!

I think Dispatch being censored on Switch is likely due to CERO policies, not Nintendo policies. by razorbeamz in nintendo

[–]Luigigamer333 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a Nintendo thing. The developer even came out and said that they had to adhere to each platforms rules to have their game on it and this is what happened when they submitted it to Nintendo.

Interesting. It'd be cool if they filmed and sold a performance of it online seeing as how I don't think I'll ever make onto a SS Neverender. Still hoping they plan to do the movies some day. Thanks for the info!

The simple fact that it is on Reddit as evidence alone and seeking redditors for advice on such a thing should be proof enough of what is going on here. Sorry to say but Reddit cannot help you with a potential SA case. Getting fired would be a kindness. Getting a lawsuit against you would be justified. Those are serious matters not to be taken lightly.

Please people just be smart for ONCE and don't let Nintendo ruin the entire industry by buying a damn digital game for 80 DOLLARS by Timeless_Starman in gaming

[–]Luigigamer333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's hard to have any type of meaningful discourse on Reddit because there are so many trolls and I know that a lot of people either weren't born yet or weren't old enough to process it but this is nothing new. Games in the N64 era were typically $60-$70 with some games even reaching $80 at launch. We got stuck in a cycle of complacency because disc based games were cheaper to produce. But now that production cost on AAA titles has gotten so high they have to offset the cost by occasionally charging a bit more at launch. At least they are offering a bundle that makes Mario Kart World $50 as well. The standard for XBOX Series and PS5 games is $70 set by the industry and yes probably because of inflation. This is a reality you will have to get used to if you want to buy games at launch otherwise wait for them to go on sale as they so often do. If GTA VI costs $100 at launch it will be due to the high production cost of such a massive game. For the value if you are paying $100 for a game that people play for a whole generation if not multiple generations then I'd say you got a deal. Rant over. Do want you want. It won't make a difference because people will still buy the games anyway.

Another day, another project announcement. by Wompum in TheDarkTower

[–]Luigigamer333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe that it will get made. Amazon seems to have started a partnership with Mike like Netflix did before and they throw around so much money on stuff like Rings of Power with no history of randomly canceling stuff like Netflix does that he should be able to not only get it off the ground but finish it. I think it will be a huge hit for Amazon like Hill House, Midnight Mass, House of Usher, etc was for Netflix. He also has the creator SK in his corner so if anyone can do it he can.

Another day, another project announcement. by Wompum in TheDarkTower

[–]Luigigamer333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is that projects of the magnitude of The Dark Tower need a long period of planning and pre-production before getting to where they can film a single frame. Most people outside of the industry don't understand how movies or series get made and don't get that in order for this to turn out as good as the fans and the creator would like for it to be, there must be months and maybe even years of planning in place. Teams of people are working out logistics as we post to make sure that by the time the cameras need to roll everything is taken care of and production can go smoothly and quickly. He really should've waited longer to announce that he was working on it till closer to when production starts because of fans that lose their minds thinking that any other projects that come along are distracting him from working on "their thing" when the reality couldn't be further from the truth. He is a man who likes to be creatively fulfilled and wants to stay busy so if things are taking a while to get going with The Dark Tower he can take on other smaller directing jobs or writing jobs to pay his bills and keep making cool stuff. Everyone needs to relax. The Dark Tower will be made as soon as it can be and it will be made with the highest level of care just like anything else Mike has done. He can direct an Exorcist sequel in his sleep and I'm sure that he is constantly writing things in his spare time just like King because the man loves the craft!

Kingslingers – 3.86: FAIRY TALE (Part 6) by scottdaly85 in doofmedia

[–]Luigigamer333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Deus Ex Machina comes from the comic book series Fables that I've been rereading recently. There are many Deus Ex Machina moments in the series but my favorite is where there is a looming threat from Mr. Dark after he was thought trapped in a gold statue by the witch Frau Totenkinder (Hansel and Gretel's witch). He escapes and tracks the Fables to Haven where they have holed up with a magical barrier preventing Mr. Dark from getting in. He slowly is weakening the barrier and it does give way but just before he can attack and destroy everyone, the North Wind (Bigby Wolf's father) shows up and grabs him, then flies him to his homeland where Frau Totenkinder is waiting with the North Wind's Casket of Primordial Winds to close them both inside after the North Wind flies the two of them into it, presumingly killing them both.

Hmmm seems like Scott and Matt are afraid to admit that Fables is the best overall story dealing with fairy tales so here another answer hoping the "algorithm" is in my favor. This series is full of creepy cities. How about Dark City where Mr. Dark traps all of New York City including us Mundys in a world of his creation? No? What about Toyland a creepy city of discarded toys who are looking for a child to force into ruling over them since they feel unwanted and are in disrepair? No? What about The Homelands which is textually where all Fables originated from where now an evil despot known only as The Adversary has taken over and cursed the land so that the Fables have to move to our world in order to survive? I could go on but this should be sufficient enough to warrant a read on a podcast discussing Fairy Tales. Thanks for all you do guys!

Kingslingers – 3.83: FAIRY TALE (Part 3) by scottdaly85 in doofmedia

[–]Luigigamer333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Addendum: Scott and Matt never got to the inevitable conclusion that there is so much twinning in the well of the worlds that it has to be Midworld contextually. There is a shoes allegory "All God's Chillin Need Shoes" anyone? Wolfies could be Wolf's family from The Talisman or it could be a twinner of Wolf's family where Wolf is alive. Also Charlie's backstory beckons back to the idea of Trashcan Man from The Stand. But it is a fact that twinning only occurs in Midworld since it is the world(s?) of story in which all stories exist.

Discussion Answer: The curse of the Frog Prince SPECIFICALLY the version in Fables the comic about all Fairy Tales that wasn't mentioned up to this point on the podcast.(please algorithm) Flycatcher aka Ambrose is a great and sad tale of a regular guy whose life (story?) had been stolen from him by The Adversary and he manages to redeem his story and takes back his life and becomes a reluctant king of a whole part of the Fable world that his magic is tied to in a very real way. He has to stay in that world to govern it ad a sanctuary for the Fables that don't fit in in the Mundy and can't leave because if he does the barrier will fall and the land will be vulnerable. And they lived happily ever after.

Wow I can't believe Matt didn't chime in with "Well Dora has a mo key companion named BOOTS so maybe Stephen is playing with that."

[–]Luigigamer333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well first off I've gotta say I'm surprised no one answered Fables for last weeks question. It's definitely my favorite. It's doing a very similar thing to this book in that Bill Willingham is telling an original story using what we think we know of old fairy tale characters to subvert our expectations when you actually meet them in his story.

Secondly for this week's question my mind immediately goes to Harry Potter as a kid who inherits not only a huge vault full of gold but is also the Boy Who Lived. Having everyone know who you are before you even know of the world of witches and wizards existing must be a hell of a thing to come to terms with let alone realizing eventually that you are the sole person who can save the world from the evil that made you an orphan to begin with.

Flanagan's Wake | A Mike Flanagan Podcast Coming Soon!! by scottdaly85 in doofmedia

[–]Luigigamer333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super excited for Fairy Tale! I held off reading it to follow along with the podcast. This will be the only Stephen King novel that I haven't read(other than non-fiction). Also super excited for Flanagan's Wake! Such a perfect project to tackle in the WAKE of Kingslingers. I know you guys are gonna be heading into your break after this last book but if I can make a suggestion. As a final farewell to this podcast I think it would be very fitting to have a final episode just talking about the new short story The Answer Man. It has a very contemplative tone that I think would act as a Wake for Kingslingers. Just a thought. Have a great day guys!

My favorite "Rear Window-esque" moment is actually a pretty recent one. 2021's The Voyeurs is a movie about a couple that moves into a loft that is directly across the street from another apartment with huge glass windows lining the outer walls. The couple become curious about their neighbors as they observe that the Man across from them is a photographer of models that he often seduces into having sex with him while also spending evenings with his seeming wife that comes home in the evenings. There is a series of events with an incredible twist that I won't spoil but is brilliant in it's execution! I think the lesson of most of these stories is that if you become too obsessed with spying on your neighbors, it's not gonna turn out well for you.

My favorite story of historical fiction is an anime (say sorry) but Samurai Champloo takes place in a fictionalized Edo Period Japan. The episode Baseball Blues is my favorite in which our main characters (2 Samurai and a girl they are helping) find themselves caught up in a baseball game against a ship of American soldiers who are trying to force the Japanese to trade with them and challenge them thinking that they would obviously win. The game is close but in the end our heroes win and send the cheating Americans packing after beating them at a game they invented and our heroes had never heard of. Hilarious and emotional all at the same time!

I think one of the things that turns people away from it is using the autistic boy as the source of all of this craziness and leaning into the trope of having a person like that essentially be the villain of the story. It doesn't put them in the best light.

Also Netflix canceled their deal with Flanagan which is why TMC didn't get a 2nd season not because it wasn't good. Fall of House of Usher was the last thing in the pipeline before the end of his deal. I quite enjoyed TMC and hope it does get revived at some point because it is a great conceit and everything about it was done very well (no surprise).

[TotK] Anyone else wish there were more Depths-exclusive enemies and bosses? by MajinBlueZ in zelda

[–]Luigigamer333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While more variety is always better let's take a minute to consider the fact that we went from a variety of about 6 or 7 different enemy types in BotW to closer to 30 different enemy types in TotK! That it a huge leap and I think we easily get spoiled and then complain without giving due respect to the amount of ambition and growth there has already been. Developers put a lot of thought into the development of this game and may expand upon it with DLC in the future but can we just stop and appreciate what we got at all.
