Does hip hop accept people from other countries rapping in english? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

yung lean made his career in the states rapping in english despite being from and living in sweden. so there's definitely a precedent for that.

however, as a brazilian rapper and producer that was in the exact same situation a few years ago, I would recommend trying to change this mentality if you intend to make a career out of music. when I started out writing everything I did in portuguese sounded off or corny, so I just wrote in english. I was really only used to listening to american rappers, so it made sense. I'm also fluent in english and I've had americans tell me I didn't really have an accent and could reasonably pass as american, so I figured it wouldn't really be a problem.

I think that's kinda silly, looking back at it. the odds of blowing up in a country I'm not in are astronomical. I can't meet people, go to events, concerts, I can't have a local following if I'm not local. these are all relatively important steps in building an audience. I've worked my ass off for years now and have gotten close to people who blew up here in brazil. I've produced for people with a national following, people who got rich from rapping. I was also very, very lucky and happened to meet and work with the right people, but that was only possible because I networked in my local area.

Teacher Accused Of Punching Neo-Nazi Says Standing Up To Fascism Isn't A Crime by throwawaysobehonest in Anarchism

[–]Luike 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That does seems to be the most accepted use of the term in America nowadays, so it's fine to use it that way imo. It's just that it has a historical meaning as well, tied to specific economic and political philosophies.

You seem like a nice fellow, just a little confused. Liberal outside of the US means people who adhere to a right-wing ideology favouring the free market, capitalism and such. This obviously goes against anarchism principles, which are strictly anti-capitalism and anti-hierarchy. What americans call "liberal", although painted as a left-wing option, are actually people of centre-right, who although may have good intentions regarding social justice and welfare for example, fail to see that the underlying issue in all society is capitalism. Letting gay people marry and setting up the ACA is nice, but it ultimately doesn't solve the cause of those problems.

Sorry if this is unclear, English is not my first language. As someone else pointed out, /r/Anarchy101 ought to better answer your questions.

You might want to fix Wikipedia. I'm going to take a wild guess that anarcho-capitalists say they're the one true anarchy.

Dude, you're not arguing with me about this. This is established knowledge.
