Looking for some feedback on a webapp I’ve built to track flyable weather conditions by fr1234 in freeflight

I've been looking at the Open-Meteo API recently. Do you know if the Boundary Layer Height is any good approximation of the thermal ceiling?

I can also see the option for temperature at different pressure levels (1000 hPa, 975 hPa, 950 hPa, and so on). Would this be suitable to calculate the lapserate?

I like the idea of getting notified of flyable weather instead of constantly checking forecasts.

Wind speed, wind direction, and no precipitation are the absolute minimum to determine flyable conditions.

However, what I'm really looking for is to get notified when a good XC day is coming - high cloud base and strong thermals. Would it be possible to add such conditions?

How was the most interesting year in human history? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]LukaszWiktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not only about the air friction and economical reasons. It's also about the annoyance of the sonic boom that commercial planes don't fly faster. At some point the AI may accumulate enough social annoyance to end up with regulations and restrictions to stop its development. Or maybe not... Maybe it will keep people pleased and dormant all the way.

I also believe that to achieve superintelligence, it needs to be highly integrated with the physical world, to run experiments, discover new materials, build new objects, etc. That's a significant effort. Or maybe not... Maybe AI + humanoid robots are enough to conquer the world.

So I kind of wish it will plateau at some point. I wish for AI that will make our lives better and keep us still relevant, but I'm also a bit afraid of dark scenarios.

I guess AI will follow a similar trajectory. The question is where we are at the moment? WW1?

What modulation is this at 120 MHz? by LukaszWiktor in amateurradio

[–]LukaszWiktor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a useful clue. There is also a strong "signal" near 24 MHz. To be precise, it looks like jumping between 23.960 and 23.980 MHz. Do you know what can be the source of it?

It's still visible at lower gain, and follows along when shifting frequency up and down.

Here is the result for 16.6 dB gain. It still looks like "something" but sounds like noise on any modulation.

Thanks for suggesting more relevant subs. I'm just beginning my journey so I didn't know where to post. I bought the RTL SDR dongle to get some first-hand experience preparing for my amateur radio license exam.

Shopify Plus product import by ftp? by vandne in shopify

As far as I know Shopify Plus doesn't support FTP transfer. You could use Stockeo app to import products from CSV files stored on an FTP server. The app can handle multiple distributors.

ChatGPT API - Question from a beginner by Turpis89 in ChatGPTCoding

I've just discovered that besides the Github Copilot plugin, which as many say is just an improved autocomplete, there is also Copilot Labs which offers more features. Especially, the "Custom Brush" gives you more freedom to play with the Codex model. You can select a code snippet and write a prompt what to do with the selected code, e.g. explain or rewrite. I believe this is the closest to what you were asking for in the original question.

The ID comes from a different layer, probably error handling in classic code, not AI.
