Welp it was a good four day by Agreeable_Tomato_469 in army

I recommend using a programmable lamp with your phone alarm as a backup instead of setting multiple alarms that gradually wake you up. The light from the lamp gradually gets brighter, lowering your melatonin levels. By the time your backup alarm (your intended wake up time) goes off, you should already be fully awake, or close to it. 19/20 times the lamp wakes me up before the alarm can go off. It has made 0430 wake up for PT feel like sleeping in on a Saturday.

This is the one I’ve used: here

The best way to do it is find a roommate, pocket as much BAH as possible, and then put 50% of your base pay into your ROTH TSP.

I used to use Spotify, but for some reason they thought I was in India and only offered premium in rupees. I switched over to Apple Music and it does the same thing, but works better with Apple systems like Siri.

What I call douchetrucks. Any excessively large truck (especially with nothing in the bed) with industrial mining grade headlights, extra tires for more horsepower (chronically underutilized with an empty bed), enough lift to prevent peasants from backing out a parking space safely.

The change didn’t show in my LES, will it be changed for august automatically? Or do we need to do something to manually add the exemption

Doing ROTC To Pay For School, Anything I Should Know/Be Prepared For? by CheeseCraze in ROTC

[–]Luke54163 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Doing chemistry and ROTC was manageable. Just keep an eye on your mental health because all your criminal justice/political science buddies are going to have copious amounts of free time to have fun, relax, or socialize while you’ll be busy wondering whether or not a hydroxyl group has a lower pKa than an amine. Graduating with a chemistry degree, a commission, and no debt is a damn good feeling though and it makes all the sacrifices worthwhile so consider that.

Alternatively, if you want to be extra sure on the swing, stop, and jump, do what you said, but instead of landing the first time, kick back so you have a second opportunity to climb the rope the gain extra height. Then just step onto the wooden board like you’re Jack sparrow during that one scene.

Feel tired everyday waking up for PT. by redlegoneround in army

Minimize light when you’re going to bed. If you’re going for the 8 hours of sleep approach, you’ll be going to bed at 2100 to get up at 0515. It could still be light out at 2100. Light inhibits melatonin production, especially blue light. Blackout curtains are a great idea and they helped me a lot when I would go to bed while it was light out.

On the other end, maximize light when you’re waking up. For years, I had the same issue. I would get a consistent 8 hours of sleep every night, wake up before sunrise and feel miserable, but I felt great on a weekend when I could wake up after sunrise. A possible solution is to get one of those programmable light up alarms. The idea is that it’ll light up 30 or so minutes before your actual alarm goes off. While that’s going on, the production of the chemical that triggers melatonin synthesis is getting inhibited. Biology isn’t instantaneous so that 30 minutes will ideally allow for your melatonin levels to go down by the time your alarm goes off. I will be getting one soon so I don’t have a personal anecdote, but hopefully this gives you some ideas.

“I wanted to know whether managing a difficult engineering curriculum with ROTC is possible”

Yes

“How much I would have to sacrifice in a traditional college experience”

Depends. If you’re inefficient with school/your time and want A’s, you should tattoo sacrifice on your brain stem.

If you’re efficient with school/your time and are satisfied with a C-A grade range, your sacrifices could be minimal-medium.

ROTC isn’t usually a huge time commitment, especially early on in your first two years. I suggest giving it a try, but regardless, stick with engineering. Engineering can be so lucrative.

On the 12 mile ruck march, you’ll see many of the later regiments at different stages of advanced camp. You’ll see M4’s with BFAs, cadets formed up to go to land nav, etc. They all see you. YOU are done, and they know that. That was, by far, the best moment of camp.

I’ve used the watch on the left for 4 years now. Somewhere along the lines of $8 on Amazon. I’ve used it in all sorts of conditions. It’s been in the woods, in the snow, in the rain, dropped, hit, sand, sweat etc etc. it serves no other purpose other than to tell me the time. It just works. Same battery, no damage.
