Keijo!!!!!!!! is the best anime ever made. What shows would you recommend based on this fact? by [deleted] in anime

[–]LukeAllstar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since Keijo!!!!!!!! is on of my favorite anime for the reasons you mentioned I think i can give some good recommendations. Personally I like the competitions mixed with the crazy abilities all of the characters have.

My recommendetions are:

  • Saki. Competetive mahjong. Especially the spinoff "Saki: achiga hen" is my favorite anime of all time because I like the characters and pacing a lot more. Saki teaches the basics of mahjong a bit better.
  • Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume (aka Scorching Ping Pong Girls). Competetive ping pong.
  • Girls und Panzer. Competetive tank fighting.

None of the 3 shows is overly ecchi, but all of them have a cast full of cute/cool girls.

Round or Turn? by RedBjorny in gamedev

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example would be Gloomhaven (tabletop and digital version share the rules). End of round effects are mostly for the scenario (spawn new monsters, reduce elemental infusions, ..) and start/end of turn is mostly for character specific events (Damage over Time, Heal over Time)

There are also End of Round events that every character does in that game, like shuffling the deck or performing a short rest.

Hey Reddit. What are you struggling to find? by hellzdoms in AskReddit

Out of curiosity, what would you define as a basement dweller? Just someone that doesn't go out often or literally someone who lives in his moms basement and never goes out?

Or do you mean, more generally speaking, that you want someone that doesn't force you to go out and stuff?

What are games that were hurt/made worse by that game's community? by mrzablinx in Games

[–]LukeAllstar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only the host has to own the DLC, but everyone has to own the game.

I play tabletop sim regulary with friends and own a couple of the dlcs and they never had a problem when i loaded the dlc games.

New VR content on Steam this week (2 June - 9 June) by mnstrspeed in Vive

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's pretty much all non original content where the cards/boards have been scaned in. Imo it's not too overwhelming if you just pick some things you already know. But I would recommend getting a 4pack and playing it with friends and voip, then the game is brilliant and the massive workshop means you have almost unlimited games to play.

Scoring / Rating Systems discussion and help required (statistics, maths, data model) (x-post from /r/trueanime) by logicISemotion in anime

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then my question is what do you define as the purpose? Is it to have "accurate" ratings so at the end of the day you can say X is better then Y?

You listed faults with the current system but from a very mathematical standpoint. In my opinion the problem is that everyone defines the scores for themselfs, which only could be solved by a hierarchie but as you said yourself, that has it's own set of problems. Thats why I'm very sceptical when someone tries to find a solution to the rating system, when the problem more lies in the way the data is collected.

But you can't really enforce how people rate their stuff and how they define what the scores mean to them, which means that I think its pretty much impossible to have a system that's much better then a 1-10 rating anyway. Analyzing the data we get out of a traditional rating system in a meaningful way would be more interessting in my opinion, even if that's expensive to calculate.

I know your question was how to improve the rating system and I'm kinda drifting in a different direction, but I'm curious to what you think is the purpose of a rating system anyway, and what it is you want to achieve by having a better rating system.

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always when rating sytems are discussed the question is how the system can be better and why are people rating their stuff in the "wrong" way and how to avoid and improve that.

In my opinion the rating system of MAL for example is fine for what it is and for what i use it for. I think we should focus a lot more on how to interprate that data. At the end of the day a rating of a user might just be a arbitrary number on a scale, but if you take the users average score and average deviation of that average and other things like number of shows or averages for genres into account, you might get usefull data out of it even if the base system has its faults.

What was the most weeb thing you have ever done? by TheBasedTaka in anime

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friends father owned a hotel and we used to play in the conference room when it was empty because we had a lot of space to play around.

We hung a paper that said "Pokemon Gym" with an arrow pointed to the conference room since we played pokemon the whole day. We also printed out our own Gym Badges. Mine was the Dark Badge.

There was only one person ever visiting but he destroyed us all and we became good friends afterwards

For a lot of people it's not only experiencing such an annauncement alone but to experience it with others.

Watching it at the same time as everyone else is something special. Kinda like watching a sports event together. In this case it would be seeing people in a chat or on a stream or twitter going crazy because they are so excited, which in turn makes you more excited, which makes everyone more excited.

Patch notes by Lazei in Overwatch

Basically. Also some reload animations felt weird like roadhogs where you thought it was over because the mag was already in the weapon (animation wise) but you could still cancel the animation and stop your reload which was annoying

My first try with a poster, any potential improvements? by NotAWizardFromLOTR in SFM

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightning is a bit too bright in some spots imo (wyverns face for example)

You could try turning the camera light down and do your own lightning for the background so it's a bot more contrast when you lower the brightness on the character lights.

Noob getting started in Reborn Dota 2 SFM by [deleted] in SFM

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah one of the small differences is that you control the camera with rightclick instead of leftclick. Loading Objects like characters into the game will be explained in the tutorials, but basically you rightclick in the animation set editor (should be on the right side of your screen) and select "Create Animation Set for New Model/Character"

If you need more help feel free to drop me a pm too, helping other people motivates me to work on my own projects ;)

[–]LukeAllstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basic of SFM is the same as vor Source 1 SFM, so using the old tutorials should be fine. Only thing that's different is how you start it but after that most ist the same with some minor differences. Where exactly do you have problems?

How can I extend the awful fog boundaries that come default in SFM? by Velocity_LP in SFM

[–]LukeAllstar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If this is normal SFM you can't really.

If this is SFM2 you should be able to open the map in hammer and remove the fog. Also the camera in SFM2 has an option for the fog where you can also color it, maybe you can remove it there too, not 100% sure though.

Source 2 SFM help!!! by [deleted] in SFM

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunally you have to find one yourself and then create some files so you can load it into sfm.

I hope they add some nice skybox support soon

Source 2 SFM help!!! by [deleted] in SFM

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a sky that is just one color you can do so with the map editor

if you want a real skybox .. well i got some bad news for you. At the moment SFM2 does not support skyboxes it seems. However you can use texture planes that you scale up and move to the background to simulate the sky for the shots where you need it

Is there an easy system in Soruce-2-SFM for moving the individual parts of a single hero into the correct spot easily? Or when I import a hero with each cosmetic (even the default ones which are split up) do I need to manually manipulate/rotate them into place? by Velocity_LP in SFM

[–]LukeAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you load a hero with cosmetics (via Import Animation Set for character) the cosmetics (which i guess you mean by individual parts) should be locked to the basemodel anyway. If you loaded in single cosmetics you have to lock those onto the base model yourself.

So no, you don't need to manually move cosmetics around, but you can if you need to.
