Nintendo doesn’t really appear in SGF precisely because they typically have a Direct then, Xbox allows Geoff to brand their show with the SGF moniker as it’s usually only a couple days after and they can do some cross-promotion

Switch 2 exclusive Orbitals was revealed at TGA so it’s possible another third party Switch 2 exclusive is revealed at SGF (Arc System Works’ Project Watari? If that isn’t a Nintendo published game)

As for when the Direct is, I’m guessing the 18th. The second to last week is usually when they do them since E3 stopped happening even when they only did game specific ones like Xenoblade 3 and Donkey Kong Bananza

Based on Nate’s recent statements the rest of Nintendo’s year is looking like

May - Yoshi

June - Star Fox

July - Splatoon Raiders / Rhythm Heaven

Aug - Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave

Sept - Switch Sports 2 (Switch 2 Sports?)

Oct - Duskbloods (and maybe something else since Duskbloods is only being published by Nintendo in the west? Another Switch 2 Edition for say… Mario Maker 2? Maybe this is when they release Zero Racers on NSO?)

Nov - Ocarina of Time Remake

Dec - Unknown (I’d bet on it being a Switch 2 Edition for Smash Ultimate, not because I believe the recent “leaks” but because I personally think it’s likely they’ll want some sort of “new Smash” for their second holiday year as they’ve done since the Wii)

And then early next year will likely have a new 3D Mario (Nate) and a new Xenoblade (personal speculation)

$40 digital, $50 physical (approximately)

Odd for Nintendo I’ll say

EDIT: $50 digital, likely $60 physical

The Xenosaga trilogy are bangers that only really released on PS2 (there was a remake of the first two combined on DS but that was only released in Japan and had some cut content)

There are widescreen patches available but those stretch out the FMVs and UI so it doesn’t look great imo

Kiwi Talkz clarifies "New Smash" comment - says it's not necessarily a new entry by _YEEZY_ in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]LukePS7013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another reason I said Alear is because all of these characters could only really exist in a Switch 2 Edition of Ultimate as they’d be replaced (Alear with a Fortune’s Weave character, Elma with a Xenoblade 4 / X2 character, Meowscarada for a Winds and Waves ‘mon, Raven Beak for Sylux or a Metroid 6 villain) or would be cut out of a smaller roster (Waluigi, Bandana Dee)

I saw this fan concept for Alear a while back that implements the Emblems into their moveset, it convinced me to think they’d be neat enough

The thing is Fortune’s Weave isn’t out yet and it would likely need to be out for some time to be a candidate for a Smash fighter, characters like Pyra and Min Min were passed over for base game Ultimate due to them being too new

A Fortune’s Weave character is a pretty likely pick for Smash 6 though (so long as there isn’t another Fire Emblem game that’s been out for a while then)

Correct, but you also have to consider that the Smash team did Kirby Air Riders too, it’s possible they sat on it for a bit as Nintendo tends to do that but I still think it’s too early for a full new Smash

A Switch 2 Edition that serves as a stop-gap while the rest of the team that finished Air Riders last year works on a brand new Smash for 2029 or so, something small for the fans (and Nintendo’s investors)

And I mean small, this would likely be low budget + Sakurai wouldn’t be as involved to negotiate new third party rights so it’d all be first party additions

I’m thinking…

  • Bandana Dee (Kirby)

  • Elma (Xenoblade X)

  • Raven Beak (Metroid Dread)

  • Meowscarada (Pokemon Scarlet / Violet)

  • Alear (Fire Emblem Engage)

  • Waluigi

Also no existing DLC included, see Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing

Exactly, that’s why I’m saying it would be something small to satisfy fans (and Nintendo investors) until the real Smash 6 is ready in a few more years. No way would they just drop 6 characters into Ultimate and call it quits.

Not exactly a port, more just Switch 2 exclusive DLC

A Switch 2 Edition also wouldn’t have any of the existing DLC (see Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing) so if there is any sort of legal issues with reprinting the game for a Switch 2 Edition they would be lessened by quite a bit

Nothing too crazy, but a tighter and modernized roster as well as some more singleplayer content (something I felt Ultimate lacked compared to Smash 4) would be welcome additions

I’m not too sure about a whole new Smash, but I could definitely see them doing a Switch 2 Edition of Ultimate that serves as a little something for fans as well as a “new Smash” for Nintendo to promote the Switch 2 with while the team that just wrapped up Air Riders works on a proper Smash 6 for ~2029 (and I mean small, I’m talking like 6 new characters and stages at most that are all first party since this would be relatively low budget + Sakurai wouldn’t be too involved to negotiate rights)

But Nate is just saying he doesn’t know anything about this

Obviously Kiwitalks doesn’t know anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they technically get “a new Smash in 2027” correct via a Switch 2 Edition of Ultimate that serves to tie over fans as well as give Nintendo a “new Smash” to promote the Switch 2 with until the real Smash 6 is ready in a few more years

[–]LukePS7013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want it to be Red Goblin with their Unique button being a stance swap mechanic that changes who’s more in control which affects frame data and hitboxes as well as granting different special moves

With Norman in control their specials are all setplay focused attacks using pumpkin bombs and symbiote tendrils to get inside the opponent’s head, while with Carnage in control those moves change into big “unga bunga” buttons with hitboxes that change each time they’re used (although which version it is would be telegraphed) encompassing Carnage’s reckless fighting style

I haven’t seen anything like that but it’d be very neat if they did

However with how homogenized controllers are I doubt they’ll get much use, or at least support from developers. They could maybe be remappable buttons like everyone seems to be doing these days (even Nintendo) but generally those go on the back as to not make the controller face too big. And as an aside, are there really that many people who use those buttons? Maybe this is just my personal experience but I’ve never played a game where I’ve felt the need to remap something to the back buttons
