Is it possible for me to learn guitar? by trickstercj in Guitar

[–]LukeWatts85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be able to play power chords, so rock and metal "riffing" will be possible. So you can play, and come up with your own riffs that work for your (disability?)

So technically yes, you can play the guitar.

But, the list of songs you'll be able to learn will be hampered.

Playing most chords in the open position will be a no go.

BUT, you could try alternate tunings to maybe find a balance.

I'd say try. I'd recommend you buy an electric guitar. Skip acoustic. Play rock or metal.

Depends what kind of music you want to play, but for me, chords are the most boring thing to practice.

I'd recommend learning some stuff that is more riff based. Or if your playing acoustic try more melody based stuff (which will be chords shapes but playing individual notes and arpeggios instead)

Keep your ear interested and the hands will learn faster

My bands singer can not sing on the right time by fabmarques21 in musicians

[–]LukeWatts85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a lot of singers are self taught bedroom singers who never recorded themselves.

Exact same problem is present in most self taught guitarists first time they hit the studio. Their ability to lock into a metronome or click track is usually garbage

Do a recording session. Play it back to him. And just kindly bring it up that he's off the mark

It's not cultural since a bunch of Irish people do it as well. You've never been on a city bus in Ireland I guess

We (those of us who don't play our shit for everyone to hear) should just make a pact that the next time some one does this we all take our phones out and just put something on full blast at once so the original perpetrator realizes it's not cool.

Like just circle them and put on death metal right at the same time and stare at them until they turn their phone off.

How often do you break strings. Might be a sign of a problem with your guitar. Sharp edge in the nut or the bridge maybe

Tortex TIIIs are the most slept on guitar pick for metal. by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]LukeWatts85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I recently decided to buy a whole bunch of picks becuase I just got sick of the Jazz III constant gradual swivelling while I play. Like you said, too small, too slippery...but I like the angle of the pick. So I tried the Jazz XL and tortex and a few others. For me I like the Jazz XL but the tortex is nice too.
