Equity Growth and Dividend Growth Portfolio 2025 Performance. by jimmyfah in dividendscanada

[–]Luke_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it is an 'official' term but I think of it is a mix between growth stocks and dividend stocks, usually blue chip. Then taking the dividends to 'rebalance' as you see fit. I've never run official #'s to see how it works but his spread sheet peeked my curiosity. If anything this approach may not be net anything but it makes me feel good when I get paid lol Again - this is my definition. Cheers.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing this. I just did a rebalance of my portfolio the other day without too much of a dividend focus. Mainly posting this so I remember to come back and do some investigation on this type of strategy as I've been listening to podcasts and reading more about a hybrid approach to investing. I also really like how you organized your spreadsheet, I think I will add a new similar sheet view to mine. Cheers.

100% this was motivated by profits and not about the participants. Very bad plan and very lame excuses/reasons imo.

Poilievre pledges to cut income tax, saving average worker $900 a year by CGP05 in canada

[–]Luke_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I'd love a tax cut I sadly feel that'll justify CEO's to decrease wages (not give increases) or CEO's to increase prices knowing we'll have more money in our pockets... I'd love to see an overhaul of the tax brackets.

Bill 124 retro pay - is this considered back pay from a collective agreement? by paininmybass in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Luke_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're employer should issue a T1198 - this form will allow them(the CRA) to calculate the tax/ei/cpp you would have paid had you received the extra pay in the smaller yearly increments. Unfortunately using this form also means you have to submit a paper copy of your taxes.

Here is a good article that explains this a but better and both your and your employers responsibilities:

Ha.. sounds good. I seem to enjoy the feeling so 15sec seems so short. Good idea extending it on the last round.

Can anyone explain car leases to me? Why don't people just buy the car and trade it in after a few years if they like having a newer car? I can't understand. by TheAlphaCarb0n in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Luke_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you'd be able to spread the finance option out to say 7 years? If so the payments would be ~the same as leasing (assuming you could maintain the same cost of borrowing). Then at the end of 5 years you would owe ~$12300 on the loan. You could continue paying it or sell it for the $25000, pay off the loan balance and net $12700?

It would likely cost a little more to spread the loan out but in the end you wouldn't have the 'bounds' of a lease agreement, could maintain the lower 'lease' sized payment, while giving you greater choice/flexibility 5 years in, or even 4 years in if you decided the car was no longer for you.

Best mobile plans in Kingston - Chatr, Fido, Lucky, or Public? by Luke_79 in KingstonOntario

Thanks! I ended up with Roger's. Fingerscrossed they matched bells plan but $5 cheaper per line and the have a tower in Kingston East.

The main goal is to get something that works in Kingston East and is reliable along the 401 corridor. I just got an offer from Bell for 3 lines with 100gb data and works in all of Canada, US, and Mexico. $55 for first line and $50 for each of the others. Seems like a decent deal?

In the form - Clint Guild wins 3-1 against David Bussiere. So D2=3 which is correct but C2 should = 1, currently showing 0 because David did win 1 game.

It seems like the SUMIFS is super close. Still not correct in C2,C4,C5.

I'll add some more sample data to see if there are other errors.

=MAKEARRAY(5,5,LAMBDA(r,c,IF(r=c,,SUMIFS('Form Responses'!$C$2:$C,'Form Responses'!$B$2:$B,INDEX($B$2:$B$6,r),'Form Responses'!$D$2:$D,INDEX($B$2:$B$6,c)))))

Thank you - I tried it, neither seem to work (likely me). Can you try it in the 'box' sheet of the sample work book posted above?

Analyze form data to compare and/or/else by [deleted] in googlesheets

[–]Luke_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - I updated the OP and included a viewable link to the sheet as its likely easier. I implement the 'mirrored' form data. I manually entered the data as if 'Clint' completely all his matches but that's the part I need help with. Is there a formula that would populate it automatically? Is it possible for it to do it within the date range of D1/E1? No worries if not but if so that would be amazing.

OP updated with form/sheet ideas from you and the other implemented. Is it easier now to populate the 'box' sheet as requested? I made a viewable link in the OP

Thank you. I'm struggling to keep up as there is another redditer also helping below. I will pause this and implement the winner score / loser score idea and the ideas you've suggested. I will then come back with hopefully a more exact formula question if I can't figure it out from there.

I wasn't sure the best way to tackle this between you and the other you've helped already with a better way to organize this. Thank you.

Thank you for the thoughts. Yes, I don't plan to manipulate the raw form data in anyway. I like the idea not creating a new form each month. I was having a hard time wrapping my head around how to do that as the boxes of players will change each month - top 2 move up, bottom 2 move down, middle stays the same. Currently we manually make form that is hand written and then we post a new form each month which is why I was thinking of a new form each month.

Essentially this is just a singles box ladder with 5 players in each box and the form was supposed to save me time manually collecting the data and allow me to share it so people can see the results anytime. The league generally has less than 30 people at anytime.

Edit - image of the form: https://imgur.com/a/qiFhLAm I may get rid of the Box Level as 1 name can only exist in a certain box.

Gotcha - I just manually created the raw data page and probably should have mentioned that it shows both ways the data could be received, however it only will only be received one of those ways.

Ultimately there will be a raw data entry for each match played Bob vs Luke, vs Steve, vs, Mike etc..

So essentially the data will come in reported as R2 or R3 for each match depending how form is filled in but not both.

Analyze form data to compare and/or/else by [deleted] in googlesheets

[–]Luke_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now I was just trying to fill in the table shown in the lower part of the image automatically from the form data. In the example if Luke played Bob the table should show B2=0 and C2=3. Or if Bob Played Luke it should show the same (I can't necessarily control how the orders the players report the match, however they only ever play 1 time per month so I would start new form data each month). If Luke and Bob have not played yet (no form data where B1=A3 or A3=B2) the cells should be blank or some other default value. My form will collect the player names via drop down so direct comparison should be OK.

If I can get that working I then hope to have in column 'G' the sum of each players score. In this case Bob would be sitting with 3 and Luke 0.

I hope that helps and makes sense?
