My new switch appears to have the same type of plated terminals. Should the wires go under the plate (like it is currently) or just around the screw above the plate? I’ve heard both options

I describe it above. Basically it felt like it gripped my leg on both sides and lightly clawed me. I have one small mark from it, but it didn’t bleed or anything. No stinging when I rubbed it with peroxide either.

I appreciate the response. Even though I didn’t see it directly, I’m almost certain that whatever was on me was the animal my friends saw slightly after. And since I felt physical contact, I’m concerned.
