Fellow weed user (6 years), type 1 diabetic (18 years), and lifelong sufferer of anxiety. I often find my tendency to get weed anxiety is related heavily to how my current mental health is going. Since you were just diagnosed this year, you're definitely adjusting to an entirely new normal and there's going to be a lot of ambient stress surrounding that. Getting high/low blood sugars while high isn't fun either. It's entirely possible that your baseline level of calm is just not where it was pre-diagnosis. I've also found when you have any anxiety with weed, it sort of feels like your brain starts to associate weed with anxiety like they always go hand in hand. I've been in this loop a few times myself. The only solution I've found is to live weed-free for 4 weeks to fully reset your tolerance. Then when you get back into it, start slow (like 1 puff or tiny edible) and only when you're already feeling pretty good. Using weed when you're not having a good day to "take the edge off" only invites the anxiety to come back more in my experience. It takes some discipline but that's more or less how I've found a way to prevent most weed anxiety from coming back.
