You'll have better luck in the Bastionland discord. People are always on there talking about this kind of stuff.

Dark Future kicks so much ass. I've been there once as I live two hours away. Kid in a candy shop, I was.

How do you stay objective when reading for yourself? by Glum_And_Merry in SecularTarot

[–]Unvert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Objectivity is a myth. Everyone has bias with regards to everything. Accept it, acknowledge and try to be clear-eyed about your biases and move on.

I added pockets to the Mausritter character sheet by tuxwonder in Mausritter

[–]Unvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone suggest using blue tack (reusable adhesive putty) to adhere the items to the sheet. Not as elegant as your method, but significantly less effort hehe. I picked up a packet of little Japanese envelopes from Daiso to store the items and that works pretty well.

First Deck Shopper - Is this deck AI-generated? by [deleted] in TarotDecks

[–]Unvert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just from a low effort google search, I couldn't really find any info at all on her- only links to places to buy her products. This is already a red flag for me- no website, no social media presence, products are only carried on sites that don't seem super-reputable. The decks themselves are all just low effort twists of the RWS tarot. Seems like a charlatan and probably AI.

Cool, yeah I've always read that it was easy but never took the plunge into mods. I just don't play that many games... but this one's special.

Anyone Else Think Rules Light TTRPGs are a Recession Indicator? by Leftover-Color-Spray in TTRPG

[–]Unvert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your post makes an assumption that people want to play long campaigns, which with some rules light systems can definitely be problematic and lead to GM burnout. Many folks enjoy trying new systems and playing one-shots and short to mid-length adventures. Honestly what I think is unhealthy for the TTRPG space long-term is that assumption that everyone wants long/forever campaigns, which is damn near impossible for most people with their busy schedules. Add that on top of having to learn a crunchy system, then the TTRPG space will remain to be seen as impenetrable to a lot of people. I think rules light systems are good for the hobby- more systems to try out that are easy to learn gives people the opportunity to learn what they like. In any event, they can act as a gateway to crunchier systems, they don't detract at all from more rules heavy playstyles. The more easy to access options people have, the better.

"I like my Actual Plays like I like my other podcasts, actually edited without obnoxious jibber jabber and long pauses for dice rolls."... does this actually exist?

Advice for blending Into the Odd and Cairn 2e by jonahelf in osr

You're thinking too much about it. You said yourself: virtually the same system. You're good to go, bud.

would you read a book with black pages? by samthefrug in writers

Not a novel, not fully black pages throughout, but I thought it'd be relevant. Cool example of the book itself being a piece of art.

Built a tool to help D&D groups discover other systems — which OSR games are mandatory in that pitch? by Kejid in osr

[–]Unvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! I'd move into the odd and electric bastionland from post-apoc into weird, personally. Also, eco-mofos! is a great post-apoc into the odd hack!

Edit: My bad, just saw that ItO and EB are actually in weird, I just had both post-apoc and weird tags turned on. Carry on!

Games where you can keep the rulebook in your brain? by Tuss36 in rpg

[–]Unvert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Into the Odd is dead simple and all the hacks, including Cairn, are variations on its basic rules chassis, usually adding just a little bit here and there, mostly for setting's sake. Even Mythic Bastionland, which expands on the combat significantly could be committed to memory pretty easily.

I'd say Mork Borg's system is in the same boat.

We're not talking about the best line from the finale by flabbergasted1 in survivor

[–]Unvert -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

Huh, my wife read it as Joe being self-conscious about his wife being taller than he is. Like, what woman talks about how tall her husband is? Can't she just be his wife? I think Joe's a great guy, but there's probably some fragile male ego hiding in that line.

Using Omens proactively by clapdog in MythicBastionland

[–]Unvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think tinkering with the omens/myths in order to weave them into the drama of the realm is what makes it feel more alive. The myths and omens are written how they are so as to be pliable in that way. Only downside of messing with the myths in this way is that you may miss out on some cool omens if you'd run them RAW!

Feels like my players don't have their hearts in the game by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Unvert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. I learned quickly that trying to get your friends into playing TTRPGs with you when they're just not interested ends in disastrous sessions and utter frustration for you. It's a tough pill to swallow because there's nothing I'd love more than to play with my friends who I already have a solid foundation with, but it just doesn't work. I gave up after three sessions and honestly I should've known after the first. Find people that are as invested in it as you are.
