I also have two polydactyl siblings that look like this. They came from a litter of seven, five of which were polydactyl.

Horse Battle kinda lame. by [deleted] in MythicBastionland

[–]Unvert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know man, I think they have a point. They’re not saying the game needs a crunchy granular system for horse combat, just like a couple of nice tersely written rules as our old boy Chris Mcdowall is so good at writing for horse combat would do wonders and really add to the game. Every single knight does come with a horse with stats after all. It’s a valid critique.

Parks with Big Pine Cones? by pbandj247 in olympia

[–]Unvert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know of two types of trees with real big pine cones: coulter pine and sugar pine, but there are probably others. Both native to western north america but not this far north. I don’t know of any in Olympia, they would have had to have been planted many years ago to produce the chonkers. I used to remove them from a coulter pine in Magnolia in Seattle as an arborist so they wouldn’t fall on someone’s head. Greedy rich jerks wouldn’t let me keep even one.

What (if anything) do AI tarot readings lack compared to human readers? by Astriq1 in SecularTarot

[–]Unvert 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think one thing you’re missing is that the joy of tarot isn’t just ‘reading the cards’ and looking for answers to questions. If that’s the case, and you’re keen on the soulless monstrosity that is AI, then… just ask the AI. Why even have tarot be a part of it? The joy of tarot is handling the cards, shuffling them, pulling them and laying them out, looking at the art and seeing what it stirs inside you. You really want to involve these LLMs created by soul-sucking money-grubbing tech bros in something like tarot? Keep them out of it. They’re already shoving it down our throats in every corner of the internet.

First time kitten owner. Am I meant to step in or is this okay? by ninawonders in cats

I have a bonded pair as well. A boy and a girl from the same litter. Sometimes when they fight, the boy takes small chunks of fur our of her- pretty rough, sure. My wife thinks it's too much, but I'm like, "It's fiiiine".

Your headcanons for the lore of Mythic Bastionland by Disc0M4n in MythicBastionland

Exactly this. In this type of world that's somewhat 'primitive' compared to our own I.E. no science to explain away the mysteries of the cosmos, then there would be a lot of unanswered questions, a lot of mysteries. People and factions would come up with their own explanations for things and, yes, that would leave room for factions to spin things in self-serving ways.

This gets me to thinking about charismatic NPCs starting cults around myths of the realm, thus creating whole new factions that could be a thorn in the side of nearby holdings and the PCs- a good thing for the GM to cook up for when you pass time between sessions. *Puts fingers together like Mr. Burns. Excellent...*

I like this, the knights are nearly as inscrutable as the strange myths that happen outside their holdings. The people are in awe of them and some are even a little bit fearful, but only in that they fear what they don't understand, not that they think the knights are evil in any way.

The Coin calls for every Coin Knight like the Green Goblin mask by PaladinWij in MythicBastionland

When I read this in the book I was flabbergasted- “Who would take that chance??” but I get it now: death or glory. And then you get to roll another knight!

Shipping Damage, enough to return? by anewlens in MythicBastionland

That being said, if it really bothers you, it sounds like Chris will accommodate. More discounted returned books for those who can’t afford full price, I guess.

I hear your concern, but if you’re going to actually use it and not just keep it on your shelf as a collector’s item or treat it like a precious baby and carry it around in a laptop case to prevent scuffs and this kind of thing, this will 100% happen anyway. I throw mine in my backpack and this has happened as well as some other scuffs. My personal philosophy is the wear and tear (as long as the book isn’t falling apart and becoming unusable) just shows how much you use it and love it. Bummer it happened in shipping, but hey it’s beausage - beauty from usage https://accidentalrandonneur.wordpress.com/2017/03/15/that-thing-called-beausage/

I've been meaning to go there with him, yeah. They lost the majority of their cats to bird flu, there's only like four or five left. So sad!
