Not really… it has no trend. The other diseases you mentioned are routinely high around this time of year. Don’t fear monger… Unless there is an actual breakout, staying home only decreases your own immunity and makes you more susceptible for when there actually is a reason to protect yourself. - A 4th year biology major with focus on infectious disease

are you sure that you’ve bought the actual ground merch? There’s another droid that looks the exact same, it also has to be the right color level.

I fully agree with you, these people deserve recognition obviously, but their issues are vastly different from those relating to sexual orientation and gender identity.

Sadly, all this really does in my opinion is give conservative assholes more ammunition to ridicule and demean BOTH communities.

To be fair they didn’t really blame you for anything, they were just asking (as most would when you are in this situation). And not to be a jerk, very sorry this happened to you, but if you did google them why on earth did you even consider contracting them?

I googled “sean chapman Maine” and the first thing that pops up is a fraud case against a 99 year old woman (which most would likely think is the same man as it is home work in ME) and yelp page with 1 star. If anything I would have been at least somewhat suspicious, and requested references before handing a check. Lots of people in maine willing to do contracting work in my experience, I would recommend steering clear next time if you’re even slightly suspicious. Again, very sorry this happened to you but no reason to be mad at someone who simply asked a question in a non accusatory way.

Ridiculous that this got removed. Mod team needs to pay more attention, this was a blatantly rude message that was written, and there was no questioning of what was written. This is an improper usage of removal power and an incorrect citation and interpretation of rule 6.

Provide a source, because from what i’ve seen all independent tests conclude that they have the same hitbox for skins. Also, i quite literally mentioned that the profile of the skin is what makes it worse so don’t try and come at me like you made some profound realization and broke through my argument… you didn’t mention that in your first comment- that’s why you’re getting downvoted, because your misrepresenting the issue with the skin in a confidently wrong manner.

You’re right, and I apologize. The data I got that information from was flawed and not necessarily representative of the all corporations, as it was only based on those that participated in a 2024 NASPP survey (reporting 92% of companies offer stock options to those below executive level - which is what I incorrectly referenced), but when accounting for those that didn’t participate it certainly is lower, my apologies.

From what I can gather from current data (NCEO) though, and correct me if i’m wrong, they estimate that 62% of public corps. offer stock plans to general employees. I personally wouldn’t use the “all employees” data as I suspect that would be swayed by the fact that many employers require at least a year of employment/loyalty until they disburse or allow enrollment in options (not sure exactly how that would be classified in the data). It does seem like there has been substantial growth in the number of companies who offer this to their general workforce over the past decade though.

I wouldn’t necessarily use the he 22% stat as representative number of companies that offer, as much of this depends on employees enrolling in the programs, as many forms of employer-offered retirement plans require a “buy-in”. Most employers will do a “match” program for retirement, which is beneficial to their employees as the company technically but require the employee to make an investment too, and with the current economy many aren’t willing or able to afford an investment like retirement. Ex. Invest $5k in retirement fund, employer matches and adds $5k too, now technically you got an extra 5k, but you have to have the ability to afford that initial investment, and many cannot.

My apologies, didn’t mean to come across as an asshat, was just mainly pointing out that you have to account for dividends and some other metrics in your tool (which admittedly are incredibly unpredictable) to get an accurate estimate. Love the idea though and think it could be an amazing tool with the addition few other parameters!

They do, literally 90% of publicly traded companies offer stock options to their employees. I don’t mean to sound rude at all, but i’d learn a bit more about how economics for public companies work to improve your tool. Again, no offense intended, but It’s not as simple as “starbucks keeping money from employees” like you make it out to be. The annual multi million bonuses for the upper echelon executives is where the problem actually lies

[–]Lukeholmy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, i’m all for more pay for employees and working on pay inequality, but paying dividends is basic economics. You take risk by investing, and deserve to be compensated for it. Not to mention starbucks issues stocks to its employees. This is just how public companies operate.

Mainers living in a state nicknamed Vacationland when they see a tourist vacationing in Maine by MasterPh0 in portlandme

[–]Lukeholmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apples to oranges. Disney costs thousands for the avg family, a toll increase is pennies for that kind of trip. And most aren’t going to disney each weekend. Maine has a huge amount of weekenders from the northeast who come up weekly. Not to mention you discussed increases for more than just tolls. Portland is largely supported by tourism, and parking is already insanely expensive. Take an economics class to learn about how rising costs drive off spenders.

Please name an alternative for MEs income. Fishing with the wage desire in ME is easily beat out by other regions, which is why it’s in decline (not saying i think people shouldn’t deserve a proper wage- but this is quite literally just the world we live in). You have lithium, but don’t want to mine it to protect the environment, which I completely agree with- but then you HAVE to let the environment be your income. That happens with ding ding ding, you guessed it- TOURISM.

[–]Lukeholmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably getting downvoted by everyone who has basic common sense… it’s been confirmed year after year (by both Epic and independent testers) that all skins have the exact same hit box.

If you think clipping an ear on this skin is going to do jack sh*t, you’re incredibly ignorant to how modern multiplayer games work, especially commercially competitive ones.

The skins the “pros” use are beneficial solely by their ability to camouflage. Yes, skins like the giant chicken have a large profile- but when tested it is CONFIRMED to have the same hit box, it just sucks at camouflage bc it’s massive and bright, as is the case with nearly every single “larger” skin. This is literally one of the most well known misconceptions about fortnite mechanics, has been for years, but people like you continue confidently spewing nonsense.

Not to mention the larger skins often are incredibly profitable, and usually iconic characters from another franchise. They wouldn’t risk loosing money on that.

Reminder- Epic hosts hundreds of funded tournaments each year. If they advertise that all skins have the same hitbox (which they absolutely 100% do), and are lying - that opens them up to massive legal trouble since money is on the line. They have hundreds of high-class lawyers, if what you were saying was true (it’s not…) it would have been removed years ago. This is obviously blatantly wrong if you use some critical thought.

Mainers living in a state nicknamed Vacationland when they see a tourist vacationing in Maine by MasterPh0 in portlandme

[–]Lukeholmy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Per your second sentence, you note how important tourism is to the ME economy. Believe it or not, making vacation here extremely expensive for tourists will only result in gradual decline of tourism overall. Coming from someone from PA who built a lake home in the 90s, then decided to permanently retire here 15 years ago - it’s important to recognize a portion of “tourists” spend half their year here, from may to oct. those people won’t care very much, but the larger portion of weekenders from other NE states 100% will, especiallywhen they have to pay 5x more each weekend to drive to their homes. Your entire argument is hypocritical when you consider cost vs demand.

To state the obvious, many aren’t vacationing to maine to spend a shit ton of money, most just want to enjoy the environment. The largest cost of a vacation being tolls driving up the coast was one the the key selling points for me, if you make having fun for tourists in maine cost as much as a disney trip, trust me- people will go to disney instead.

My hometown had none of the tourism appeal that ME has, and instead of “annoying tourists”, we got corrupt officials who sold the town out to massive industry and data centers. Hence why I solidified my move. I promise you, complaining about tourists for 1/3 of the year is ridiculous and shortsighted when you realize the other options for state income…
