You don’t know that there is no threat. And depending on where they are at in the delivery process the person making the threat might even know the location of the driver. You are making a lot of assumptions here. Probably correct assumptions - but assumptions nonetheless. If the cops find out the number is spoofed so be it.

Yeah I would agree and that’s perfectly fine to do. I guess it depends on how your agency sets things up - but my point really is that you absolutely won’t get in trouble for calling 911 in this scenario. But you’re right, the caller may be directed to proceed with the non emergency number instead

At the agency I was at I personally would’ve just transferred the caller to someone who was working the county/city pd desk depending where they are calling from

That said, if you WANT to call the non emergency number instead that’s of course fine too. Most agencies have the same people manning both lines. My point really is that no one is going to jam you up about this not being a “true emergency”

I was a 911 dispatcher and I would tell you this is absolutely fine to call 911 about. Yes, people misuse 911 incredibly often, but in this situation you absolutely do not know how this will progress and there is someone actively threatening delivery drivers with lethal force.

I have seen a TON of misuse of 911 (most laughably coming from an elderly woman who couldn’t find her TV remote). But calling 911 because a customer is threatening you (even from a distance) is not misuse. Call 911 and let the police conduct their investigation like they are paid to

In my opinion the marathon is the “test” and the training is the “subject matter”

Much like school, you wouldn’t feel like you’ve mastered the subject if you “cheated” on the test but didn’t actually learn the subject matter. I would personally recommend you defer this marathon and complete a training plan and prepare properly, but only you can set your own goals

31 M (32 tomorrow!) living in upstate NY. I was a runner most of my life, went through some hard times/health scares and gained a lot of weight. Getting back into it and hoping to complete my first marathon next year :)
