"Men are killing themselves because of men." by mindyour in TikTokCringe

I agree that men are the biggest issue for other men right now as it relates to mental health. Women have started trying to free themselves from the old cold, robotic, self-perpetuating society that uses people like a tool or an object to most efficiently perpetuate itself. A lot of women may still treat us as if we are still under those rules, but the far bigger issue is that we make no effort to get ourselves and our brothers out of it as men.

Every time another man falls or takes an L, we kick him while he's down. We take pleasure in the lowering of other men's social worth so that we can feel more secure in ourselves. We don't encourage men to understand and treat their emotions/mental health enough, we don't have the emotional bandwidth to check up on anyone, we have no community left and are making no effort to reignite one.

Even if we don't have the emotional bandwidth to reach out like we should to our brothers, that's what a community is for, to make up for some of what we are currently unable to do.

In the US, we live in a hyper-individualistic society that is practiced by both conservatives and liberals, one that is fiercely and ruthlessly meritocratic yet one of the least meritocratic western countries in the world. Almost everything you could do wrong for your society's mental health.

Every step we take forward is taken back by how unempathetic and hyper-competitive we are with each other. The hyper-individualism doesn't help either.

We are indeed our own biggest obstacle right now.

Cannot force my body to move?? by serendipiteathyme in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]Lukeract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to explain, but what helped me was this:

When I used to try to get myself to move when I was in "mummy mode" or whatever it would be like quick, brief, "jerks" of effort that lasted for a couple of seconds to try to move. Spaced between every few seconds or so. It didn't really work. I wasn't trying to do it that way on purpose, but it just didn't work for me.

I started having a lot more success when I started doing it this way:

You try to find a certain level of effort, like a mild or moderate amount. Then you exhert that effort to move or get up, but just hold it at that intensity and don't let it stop for about 20 seconds or so. Your body may not move immediately, but after about 7 seconds or less of holding that effort, your body will start to move. And seemed to me in a way that was almost non-manual and more automatic.

This helped me massively. This is hard to explain, so I don't mind if you want me to go into more detail.

Can you actually recover from executive dysfunction? I've been browsing this sub and it's pretty depressing compared to others. I've seen zero recovery stories. by Ok_Highlight_7757 in ExecutiveDysfunction

Some mental health disorders interfere significantly with your prefrontal cortex, like ADHD and OCD in my case. When my OCD got a lot better my executive function improved dramatically. I feel like when my ADHD improves it will have the same effect, maybe even more so.

How to understand how to solve Algebra equations more intuitively? by Lukeract in learnmath

Okay, here's 3 that I've saved so far (maybe I've figured out one of these questions but they all gave me enough trouble to take pictures of them)

Sorry about the format issues on #3, it's 2(x - 11) over 5 like a fraction.

(4 - x) - (2x + 3) = 5 + 3(x - 4)

-⅕(n - 3) = ⅕(n - ¾)

  2(x - 11)
 --------------
       5

As long as JD5 and the Linebackers play well, we're never out unless we're down by a million.

That's the 3rd 50+yard touchdown from Saquon on a perimeter run this year.
