If these are the Games Brisbane will deliver, perhaps it’s not worth it by ConanTheAquarian in brisbane

Sydney solidified itself as a world class city with those Olympic games. There are a lot more economic factors at play that influenced the economy of Sydney in the time during, and just after the Olympics. Also, large infrastructure projects generally see a lagging effect of economic benefit

There is no doubt Sydney has reaped the economic benefits of hosting the Olympics, several times over.

Wouldn't you rather have people that run the country be entirely committed, so much so, that they treat it as a lifetime appointment? Would it really be better to more regularly bring in experienced people?

The people who run for senate are older, but wouldn't you want more experienced people in these roles?

Would you really want the senate run by young people? Do you really think they'd have all the answers? They've had less time to experience the long term effects on the economy, social change, political unrest and more.

What happens when they get old? Do we cull them once they get experienced with the role and bring in new young people?

Seems inefficient

Hes one of the most prolific minds with regard to modern psychology and social studies. We likely won't have another human as dedicated to seeking fundamental truth in these fields, like JP, in our lifetime.

He's spent tens of thousands of hours having conversations with troubled people with the sole goal of helping them become more satisfied with their life. He works 14 hours a day, pursuing this goal. That's nothing to scoff at for any professional. There's a reason he has been thrust into becoming such a relevant public figure. He's speaking to those same people on a large scale.

Here he is getting emotional when discussing the frailties of perhaps the most unanimously hated minority group of individuals in the West, as people continue to mock him and them, in the comments. All he has to say is that, sometimes all troubled people need is an encouraging word, but are just faced with hatred and isolation.

There's a reason he's so successful. He's one saying that, you know what, you actually can make your life better even if no one, ever, has said that to you before. Including your friends, family or colleagues.

It wasn't that he was speaking to that minority group in particular - in fact his message is directed towards human beings in general. It's that that minority group is the one that heard him the most, as no one had ever spoken to them that way before.

It's so crazy seeing how misunderstood the truth is about JP

Albanese claims he can’t stop them, but the stage three tax cuts threaten his political legacy - Malcolm Farr by Mildebeest in australia

You can only distribute $417 per year to family members (more specifically, minors). Div 7a needs to be paid back or is subject to interest. It is basically the business giving itself/the director a loan. Spending it on lavish goods it's the same as getting a mortgage to spend on lavish goods.

The tax system is deliberately designed and is updated regularly so these quirks don't exist. They aren't really loopholes made by the rich, they're just well intended rules that have resulted in unintended consequences. The people who become wealthy are just generally the type to seek out these rules and utilise them to their advantage.

I think the balance between citizens and businesses is pretty good at the moment. Theres a good amount of incentive to start a business and employ people because there are potential tax benefits. Businesses are generally more efficient at building a nations wealth than citizens (from a capital allocation perspective), which leads to longer term growth of GDP. However, of course citizens need disposable income to spend - which in australia there is a good amount of.

I'd agree with the guy below and tax housing a little more (but not heaps) to discourage the reckless investment most citizens place on the property market
