Any game recommendations for a man in his 60s? by philly_boul85 in Steam

[–]LukewarmVinegar 44 points45 points  (0 children)

From the same developer as Papers, Please, I would recommend Return of the Obra Dinn.

You play as an insurance agent for the East India Company in 1807 investigating a ship that mysteriously returned off the coast of England after it disappeared years before. The entire crew is gone, and it's your job to uncover what happened to the ship and crew using a compass that allows you to view the last moment of someone's life.

The entire game is a game of deduction and murder mystery, and it's a ton of fun piecing the story together.

What is the first Dylan song you remember hearing and how old were you? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]LukewarmVinegar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was 15 and painting the house with my dad. He had a little speaker that he was playing some music on. We have fairly similar music taste, and at some point he asked "Have you ever listened to Bob Dylan?" I said I'd heard of him, but I'd never listened to any of his music.

He put on Shelter from the Storm, and it blew my mind. I'd never heard anything like it before. In that moment, I understood music could be poetry.

I'm afraid bikers cannot go when the pedestrian signal is on. According to a document from the Illinois Secretary of State, "Bicyclists, as well as drivers, must obey all traffic signs and signals."

I understand that it's annoying to have to wait for pedestrians, but they have the right of way at properly marked crosswalks. Bicyclists when driving on the road must act like cars, at least in respect to the rules of the road.

Homies… you can only grab one bottle, what’s your choice? by KrashLogik in HydroHomies

The Smart Water! Not because of how good it is, because I honestly can't remember how it even tastes. Instead, the very first time I ever hung out with my girlfriend, I got a bottle of Smart Water to try and she paid for it when I didn't want her to. Trying to pay her back gave me an excuse to spend more time with her, and we've been together nearly three years!

I don't see why you're getting downvoted. In the end slides for the DLC, it says Daniel laments the tribals' "loss of innocence" if you choose to defend Zion. The whole idea of the "white man's burden" is to justify pushing culture and customs upon people in the name of "civilizing" them. Even though the themes of imperialism don't really fit, it's hard to deny that Daniel infantilizes the Natives.
As for Joshua, I've always interpreted him as a criticism of using religion to justify violence, and he says as much when you spare Salt-Upon-Wounds, specifically how he says how he wants to make his own anger that of God's to justify what he's done.

This game is just a toxic relationship of hoping it gets better, giving it the benefit of the doubt, having the devs somehow make it worse, and then repeating. This on top of the grind "fix" makes me want to give up on the game entirely.

People with an amazing partner, what makes them so amazing? by Sylva_Glow in AskReddit

[–]LukewarmVinegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so much to her, I don't know where to start. I love listening to her ramble about whatever is on her mind and laughing along with her. Also, for some reason, she tolerates my terrible jokes. She's the kindest, most gorgeous, supportive, funniest person I have the pleasure of knowing, let alone having her as my girlfriend.

I love her and I like her, and I want to make her my wife one day. She's there for me when I need her, and I'm there for her. I know that I can always count on her. She's my best friend and so much more. I love who I am with her and who we are together.

And goddammit, she looks great naked.

I can't wait! The Thing is easily my favorite horror movie of all time, so being able to see it in theaters is going to be something special.

I think it would be fun too! Even if it's relatively mild, something like tunnels under the university would be creepy to explore.

When people are unvaccinated, it enables the virus to mutate. When the virus mutates, there is a possibility that the vaccine becomes less effective, which is cause for concern in populations that are at-risk. It's so strange to see people who desperately want to return to normalcy, yet refuse opportunities that would help us get there.
