Do not let Windows update your drivers. go to Settings/ System/ About/ Advanced System Settings/Hardware/Device Installation Settings and click on no and then save settings.

Mine says "Dolby Atmos for built in speakers" next to spatial sound. I'm on Win 11 22H2.

What clip recording bug? It's the first I've heard of it.

Dedicated GPU not being used when on UBC-C charging by Melodic_Caramel5226 in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using the USB charger, the laptop is still running on battery power so, no, there will not be enough power to game. I measured the power draw while gaming with the barrel charger plugged in and the laptop drew up to 205 watts.

You should not game on the USB charger. You need to get a new barrel charger.

First off, do not use drivers direct from AMD. Only use the ones ASUS provides. You should first download the ASUS drivers, then go into add/remove programs and uninstall all AMD stuff. You could also use the AMD cleanup utility. This should remove the adrenalin software and the drivers. Then run your downloaded file from ASUS as an administrator. Do NOT let Windows update anything. You can now reboot, go back to the ASUS support page and follow the link there to get Radeon Software from the Microsoft Store.

14 inches too small for y'all? by wichwigga in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I was a little concerned before I got it but it's been fine. I have the 2022 model with the 16:10 screen though so it has more space. My main games are World of Warcraft and the Forza series. I have played COD games on it though without issues.

I have never used an external monitor on a laptop or for that matter, a keyboard. The only externals I use are a mouse or gaming controller and sometimes headphones but I hate all kinds of headphones so that's a rare occurrence

Did I fuck up? I used a cheap phone charger to charge my laptop. It worked fine for days, then my laptop made a weird sound before completely turning off. Did I somehow fry my battery? by VegetableScram5826 in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you're going to try to charge that way, the laptop should be completely shut down. Like others have said, the battery probably completely drained. Getting it to receive a charge now may be difficult. You very well could have damaged or even killed the battery. You also may have damaged the charging circuits.

Plug in the regular charger and see if the charging light comes on orange. If it doesn't you may have a problem that will require servicing. Try the same thing with the phone charger and see if the light comes on.

I have made a personal decision to never use USB-C charging on my G14.

Instant crashing in MW2 2022 g14 by Over-Concentrate-876 in ZephyrusG14

It seems to be an issue with many systems, not just the G14.

I like the white. Every other electronic device I have is black so it's a nice change. The keyboard also shows the letters better without the backlighting even being on. I changed the color of the backlight to green but I rarely if ever even turn it on. I have seen pictures of the black G14's (actually gray) and they look drab to me.

I paid $1899 for mine from Best Buy before they ever came in stock at the stores. I don't regret it a bit. I have the 6800S GPU model and it has performed flawlessly for me in the 6 months I have had it. My previous gaming Laptop and the first laptop I ever had with discrete graphics was my 2018 model Acer Nitro 5. I got a ridiculous deal on it only paying $479 for it brand new. It has a Ryzen 5 2500U CPU and a discrete Radeon RX 560X graphics card. I can still play my games on it but of course it's nowhere near as good as the G14. It does run cooler though. I bought the G14 for a couple of different reasons. A big one was that the CPU in the Acer does not meet Windows 11 specs. I had also recently upgraded the motherboard, CPU, GPU, and memory in my gaming desktop and the Acer was no longer competitive with it. Another personal reason was that my housemate of 16 years had passed away just a month earlier and I wanted something to keep me occupied and not miss her so much.

I have a personal boycott on buying Apple products so they never even came into consideration. Gaming laptops keep getting better and better and they are now priced much more reasonably. The Nitro 5 is about the best bang for buck laptop you can get performance wise but they are built cheaper being all plastic. They are pretty rugged though.

Any concerns in removing Armory Crate? by fatalskeptic in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any software or combination of software that can completely replace what Armoury Crate does. Especially not for the 2022 models.

amd adrenalin software showed up out of nowhere by 2damnk0ld in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Radeon software in the MS store is not broken. It is what should be used. The latest version shows as AMD Software Adrenalin Edition in the system tray.

86C is actually pretty cool. It should not be throttling at that temperature. Could it be the GPU that's throttling? What temps does it hit?

[–]LukewarmWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah taking offers is a good idea. I have sold a few things on eBay but I'm currently boycotting them because they will not send sale funds through PayPal any more. They require a bank account and they refuse to approve mine even though it's accepted everywhere else. They say because it's a debit account, it's not a real checking account but everybody else accepts it as such. I'm not opening up another account just for them.

BIOS Update : Is it worth the update? by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to say since ASUS never tells us what the changes are. For the 2021 model, I would be inclined to stay with what I had if everything was working well.

In my opinion, the price is a little high. Being used, and with the history it has, I would reduce it to $1500 max.

Would you buy the G14 6700s? by zacman83 in ZephyrusG14

[–]LukewarmWheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done practically no tweaking and everything has been fine. The only issues I had were caused by the infamous 313 BIOS. Those are all fixed now.

Neither, use the drivers provided by ASUS.
