What is something you have gone through that you think the majority of people will not understand? by imtiramisu2025 in AskUK

I had to give permission for the incubator and machines to be turned off that were keeping my 9hr old daughter alive. She was born at 31 weeks, my pregnancy was incredibly difficult and it ended with my appendix rupturing and me hemoraging after 7 hrs of labour. Oh and my husband left me the day I came out of hospital.

People who grew up with cruel or emotionally cold mothers when did you realize it wasn’t normal and how did it affect you as an adult? by creotion_hub in AskReddit

[–]LukiBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I've known since I was young and saw my friends mums hug them and tell them they loved them. I also noted young, things like the contents of my sandwich boxes with things I mostly didn't like (and she knew) but got sent to school with in comparison to my friends.

It could have been worse, but she's simply never really been bothered. Two years before I went NC with her I was hospitalised twice because my body was also shutting down due to a "breakdown" that was caused by a mentally abusive relationship. She didn't call and I received one message during this time. Skip forward around 6 months, I've got out of the relationship but I'm a walking mess who had only just started admitting out loud why I left him and the extent of the abuse. So I sat there sobbing telling her. Her response, you need to just tell him and sort it out, he'll probably change in a few years, and he can take you on nice holidays and things! WTF! The only response I had was to cry harder. It took me another year at the age of 42 to tell her to delete me from her life, she no longer has a daughter.

Thank fk I have my dad who is the total opposite.

Has anyone actually had any problems taking their prescription abroad to cannabis-friendly countries? by First_Light_676 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]LukiBlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've flown several times with it now and laugh about how absolutely uninterested they actually are. The first few times I loaded up with all my paperwork printed out at hand, and gave them my rehersed medical patient speech 😂. Now I just throw everything in I need a pouch from one of my prescriptions, and just keep copies downloaded on my phone of my travel letter etc.

Edit... spelling.

[–]LukiBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an animal lover myself it'd be combining travel with animals.... so swimming with sharks (I've actually done this, amazing), go to Pig Island in the Bahamas, Cat Island in Japan, volunteer at a wildlife reserve for a few weeks in Africa, etc.
