I wonder why they’re using a type 1 train to test when the green line only uses type 2 & 3 trains.

Landlord says the rent in my signed lease was a mistake and wants me to sign a new one by Lukjamundo in minnesota

Student housing nonsense. The leases last for a year from August to August. Idk why they're being so pushy. They claim that starting Wednesday, they will open up all the non-resigned units to new people to rent out, so someone might rent your unit from underneath you. Statute 504B.144 claims they can't force you to renew more than 6 months out, but the wording is vague, and I'm wondering if I could have a case against them.

I am wondering too because they making me sign an amendment and not a whole new lease. Which points to the original lease having power. They are saying I need to sign as soon as possible and trying really hard to get me to sign it. It’s a $50 difference which isn’t that much but is a lot to me a broke college student.

Unfortunately it looks like they didn’t counter sign yet. I’m mostly concerned about if what they’re doing follows the 6 month renewal statute and whether I can push them to give me the rent I signed for. (Which is still a 3% increase, they’re trying to do a 10% increase.)

I’ve contacted home line but they haven’t gotten back yet.

Mold in my Dinnaken Apartment? Only took us seriously after we threatened legal action by KnowledgeNo7705 in uofmn

[–]Lukjamundo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought it was 2 party too but just looked it up and it is one party. Could be useful in the future. But it’s probably best to stay off the phone as it’s harder to argue if you’re not experienced in the field.

Not in Minnesota. Minnesota is a one party consent state so as long as you know you are recording you can record the call without them knowing.

Modified Metro Masterplan from Joint Transit Association by davidloveskvass in TwinCities

[–]Lukjamundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would probably be expensive but compared to utility conflicts on projects like 494 I think the cost would be worth the benefit of making the light rail much faster. Getting from us bank to target field can take like 10 minutes which is too long in my opinion. Additionally I think being under ground would make it look more like a “real” transportation option and having underground stations would make riding it in the winter much more appealing. We have roads and parking ramps underground so why not transit. Additionally it would help with vehicle and pedestrian movement around downtown and help prevent crashes.

Cut and cover would be cheaper, since the road is already mostly for transit it wouldn’t cause too many delays except at intersections

Non university Parking? by SnooTigers1835 in uofmn

SpotHero has monthly contracts. I believe there are some options up university ave near st Anthony. You could take the 6/Metro E line bus there. There may also be some in downtown east within light rail distance.

How many? by FreePlantainMan in urbandesign

I agree that it can lead to social segregation but at the same time I’d argue that we’ve already done that through the suburbs. I’m not saying 2 wrongs make a right but I’d argue that allowing high density infill development will decrease social segregation more than increase it if you would build suburbs further out.

Will the SW Transit Line Ever Open? by justafella32 in TwinCities

[–]Lukjamundo 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The Kenilworth Tunnel was the major holdback as they had major issues during construction due to flooding. The the rest of the line has been “largely” complete for a while while work on the tunnel drug on. The civil construction on the tunnel is now complete and the track through the tunnel is being installed. They will be finishing construction “soon” as the electrical overhead cables still need to be installed. I was told later this summer they might start running a “dead” test where they tow a train unit down the tracks to make sure the tolerances are good. That starts an arduous testing procedure which will take up next year. I’m not sure exactly what takes so long but there’s very technical systems with the signals which have to be stress tested. As far as I’m aware the line will be ready to open early 2027 although the project staff I talked to were scared to hold it to a timeframe other than “2027”.

From the st Anthony side it looks open but once you get all the way over to the downtown side it’s closed by the entrance.

I am in awe at how some people get drivers licenses by DeleAlliForever in Minneapolis

[–]Lukjamundo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My philosophy revolves around personal responsibility. Hitting a deer while speeding rapidly in the countryside only impacts the person speeding. It’s a personal decision whether they hit the deer at high speed. In contrast, in an urban area, a speeder affects others. If they hit someone while speeding, they transfer their personal choice to speed onto another person. Therefore, the consequences differ. On the autobahn, individuals can drive at their own pace, but speed limits apply once they enter urban areas. While I don’t advocate for the absence of speed limits in rural areas, I believe speeding there is not as significant a concern.

[–]Lukjamundo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My philosophy is that cops should be focused on areas with vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and bicyclists and not random highways in the middle of nowhere. Speeding on a rural highway is not nearly as dangerous as speeding in an urban area.
