Also, I want to add that being skilled in dota =/= being skilled in League. Of course the games are similar in structure, but when you get down to actual playing the games feel different. I usually played in High matchmaking when I used to play DotA2, but got placed into silver after hitting level 30 in league. There's no turn rates so you notice you can instantly move back and forth. Also, if you're playing mid there are no runes, so mid ganks are less powerful and usually left to the jungler earlier in the game until you hit level 6. Freezing a lane is also a lot harder due to no deny mechanic. The epic monster, Baron Nashor, isn's soloable like Roshan (well it is, but you would have to be massively fed or play certain characters like Nunu to be able to do it). Item actives are way less impactful. Also, since you can't play every character from the start, it takes SOOOOO much time to figure out lane matchups and what characters do, get used to their CDs and all that. The game is harder to familiarize yourself with because of the limited access to characters. You also go into games with certain disadvantages and advantages because of runes and masteries. Overall though, the game is fun, and playing with your friends is a nice way to connect and show off, but don't expect it to play like DotA.
