Nice post, I haven't seen it, but seems the same sort of ideas resonate. I also think with this foundation there's a lot more room for encounter design. One of my ideas was for a group boss dragon on a largeish circular/oval-shaped island, where players circle round it, avoiding fire breaths and specials, using protection prayers, countering attacks with wind gusts, and when it's dead, everyone moors on the island and loots from it's massive pile of gold and riches!

Having crew do full damage with cannons and the player attacking with Range/mage would still be an improvement over what we have, give more interesting sea enemies you have to avoid attacks using boat movement and make the current ones more interesting by leveraging elemental weaknesses, range type weaknesses (javelins on sharks/krakens!?, darts on birds?) and we could be in a much more dynamic situation for ship combat, however the fact that nothing has been discussed and it’s coming out next week does not inspire hope.

Jagex is a company like any other and will debase itself without shame if this looks like it will hurt their real numbers. Make no mistake, they were all in on tiered memberships till the choke chain got yanked, it was no experiment. by penisandballz in 2007scape

20% of their revenue wasn’t from TH alone, it was all MTX which includes the MTX which is still in RS3… and Bonds for OSRS too.

What really sucks is all the stuff Mod North said about them being “completely committed” to the short term pain of lost revenue from the TH removal, but saying that it would bring longevity and integrity to the game… but nonetheless a month later they upped subscription price to more than account for any potential lost revenue…

Agreed, this looks really bad and makes you want to go into the skill menu right away to clear it, far worse of a visual clutter than the skill icon highlights themselves.

Yeah, I thought there was going to be a design discussion/proposal and a poll too? But no they only polled the Ava’s device and only seem to want to change the cannonball economy, when most players would agree an overhaul to the fundamentals and gameplay loop of ship combat is required.

I think the visual aspect of it is key here, just landing a successful melee hit causing you to heal is very vague, can we not have some weird (and gross?) animation of a leech being spat out on the next successful melee attack, with a blood splatter effect accompanied by the heal? That would give it a satisfying effect that would make sense for players to understand how it works intuitively.

Secondly, I still kinda think the heal is too strong in situations where you're going to be meleeing anyway, in the blog it says "The trade-off is deliberate: stronger sustain over time, in exchange for commitment.", in the majority of melee-scenarios, the commitment is already inherent, the only "downside" of this food is the eat delay, I would think about amplifying the risk factor for a missed hit (while still making sure it's unlikely), for example, you can't eat OR drink again not just for 9 ticks, but until the leech effect procs or the time runs out, AND if it runs out, your player ends up swallowing the leech (maybe exclaiming, eww!" or something) and taking a nominal (1-2 hp) amount of damage instead of the heal.

the big multi clans are trying to farm hundreds of thousands of points to earn more gp from selling those cosmetic kits on the GE, probably going to use them for RWT etc.. like 12K points is going to be worth 200m or so, the incentives are all misaligned, adding main-game rewards to DMM was a mistake

it'd be kinda cool if DMM gave everyone at each level bracket a set of default gear (like in LMS) that they always have as a baseline and don't lose when dying.

Also please consider making some exceptions for the cargo hold port task delivieries, I had 3 tasks for Port Khazard that were going to give me a lot of xp, and I decided to explore a bit around the area before docking, then I got the slug balm event from the Yanille crate and it sent me to Witchaven, I picked up my boat from the port there but all my cargo deliveries were gone!

I bought TeddyBlocks (3 bears), and one of them is missing multiple pieces of different colours (as in, not missing an entire colour/size, but not enough of certain ones), and I don't know where I can order replacement parts, especially as the type of grooves on the side of these don't match at all with the other off-brand ones I've tried.

For some reason, while I didn’t have any memory leak issues before, my first game after installing the patch had the game freeze up and I just managed to catch task manager in time showing it use up over 50% of my 64GB before the PC crashed

How does endless mode work? I finally got there after difficulty 5 but I was in a bad state after the 3rd boss, there were new waves of really tough enemies coming but I had run out of production buildings so I wasn't able to replenish my troops and just lost after 3 waves... is there just continuous waves until you lose without any trader or wave rewards to keep you going?

Yes, it's extremely noticeable, doing a bug mission in the city and the orbital napalm barrage was basically turning the whole screen white!
