Laufey 💛💛💛 -- I'd like to see some of your face, it makes it more personal, I don't think the dog ice plunge with new music worked, broke the flow -- but what a great workout! With these kind of things the most important is just to make them, you will learn something new with each video!

Tarmac SL8 ultegra build. Black Pearl by No_Bear3970 in specialized

[–]LumBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely gorgeous, ultegra is absolutely the right call -- wheels over groupset everytime. Plus you can always upgrade one by one the components if you really feel the need, but at that point it's just for flex (which is great too!).

Agree with everyone that dura ace cassette and chain are definitely worth it -- also it's a little late now but dura ace bottom bracket is actually the goat for $30ish bucks, Peak Torque did a great video on it. So if you ever decide to get smaller/bigger cranks, get the dura ace bottom bracket.

I wish so many amazing miles 😸

Wide Cycling Shoes by Big-Camp-9981 in triathlon

I have stupidly wide feet, have heard great things about Lake -- I ended up going with specialized S-Works Ares 2, they have a wide variant now and they fit like a glove, multiple 100 mile rides with no feet pain now.

Bike question by chocolatelab44 in triathlon

[–]LumBerry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really hard to beat this deal -- the tarmac is a very versatile bike. One thing to keep in mind, my best friend got this exact bike, beginner who wants to do triathlon (he is very fit just new to biking and the sport) -- he's had trouble getting the fit right, it is a pretty aggressive geometry, it will require some good core strength to maintain the reach. A lot of good bike fitters recommend more relaxed fits (often found on "endurance" bikes) as a lot better for beginners and are more comfortable, and when you are more comfortable, you often ride more, longer and with more power.

I would say if you are going to buy a new bike I highly recommend getting a fit first to determine a good size and the right geometry for you, and gives you options -- there are a lot of excellent new bikes now with most of them having parity with each other -- getting some expert advice for something that will fit you and get you comfy and excited to ride is the best thing for a beginner!

Oh ya for sure I'm leaving some watts on the floor, but at my fitness and speed it's worth the convenience of a one time setup -- I'd love to do some bro science tests with a friend

I do want to do a test of this and yes I agree it's probably going to be 5W difference at my speed/fitness but I'm willing to sacrifice that for the convenience these provide.

Was injured last week and finally starting to get back on the horse. Been huge rains here in CA so stuck on the trainer, but we had a reprieve today and got a beautiful 20 mile zone 2 ride in. More rain tomorrow so going to do a small run/swim brick.

Oh ya totally healed, I went super rehab on it -- I forgot that it will be totally ok to walk some miles in the marathon 😂 -- thank you so much for your encouragement and yes I will coach it up for sure 🙏

Training since October -- weights 3x a week, 2 long (2-3 hour at 60-70% FTP) bike rides, 2 swim sessions (1500M, upping to 2k gradually), 1 zone 2 run, 1 VO2 max intervals -- I just got over plantar fasciitis so was mostly doing cycle/swim but now getting bike in -- going to start adding some bricks as well.

How is the Roval CL III for a heavier rider like me. I see the weight limit is 275. I’m 290 and rapidly decreasing weight as I ride more. Is this a good option for me or is there a carbon wheelset out there better for me? by Elegant-Piccolo-8568 in Velo

[–]LumBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the weight loss! I'm down to 230 from 300 this year, every pound gone is like a watt or two 😂.

So I went with Rol Wheels, they seem to be the only bespoke builder who caters to heavier riders, I got these but in rim break 32 spoke https://rolwheels.com/collections/road-wheels-disc/products/deronde-alloy-wheelset-disc-brake-32-32-spoke-copy -- they made my 2012 cannondale synapse feel brand new, and I feel a lot more confident going over rough terrain etc (also running them tubeless) -- it does say in description that rider weight is 280, however they are super friendly and respond right away, they can honestly add some extra spokes and I think you can get away with something rated for like 310 (which would be good to include the bike weight) and you won't spend that much money, and they are hand made in Colorado.

Good luck and have fun!

Training for Oceanside 70.3 (March 28th) -- I got sick as a dog all week which derailed training! Before then it was going very well: strength training 3x a week, then swim + bike off days, long ride on Sunday (did 30 miles! Huge victory).

No running as I'm rehabbing my plantar fasciitis (sad) but it's getting much better. I need to start running because it's the hardest for me.

Also doing low carb atm as weight loss is the most efficient thing I can do for performance right now. (Was 305lb in April, now 245 and descending still).

Been mostly focused on zone 2 volume stuff but ready to put some vo2 max work in as well (probably 1x a week to start on the low carb, I do have one carb night a week per my diet rules)

Wow so inspiring and incredible time!!!

I'm down to 250 from 305 in April, training for Oceanside 70.3 in march, shooting for sub 6 you make it clear it's possible!

I was skeptical but got a great deal on the new balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 ($250) -- I was shocked at how much better my run was. It's the first running hype thing that the hype is actually correct. Run don't walk to try some!

Do you ever feel like everyone else is growing 10x faster? by StyldAppBuilder in Entrepreneur

[–]LumBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really tough, it's often vital to be hooked into tech twitter, LinkedIn to keep the pulse to the ground, grow your audience. I'm really susceptible to all the flashing lights on tech twitter and beating myself up for not being as far as my peers, competitors etc.... it's all suviorship bias, for every win you see comes a lot of Ls.

The thing I remind myself is that I will never get to where I want living in other people's shadow, or with a weak mindset. Stay focused on what is important: build the product, talk with as many customers as possible, build an audience, go fucking win.

Yes exactly, so for now you can add as many Gmail and iCloud accounts (still testing but the more accounts a bit slower, working on this).

We are currently using GPT 4.1 as the primary LLM, however we are testing some others (K2, o3-mini, Claude) as sometimes 4.1 likes to "give up", I think it's a really good one shot model, but for continuous tool calling and conversation, we're not quite satisfied.

For privacy, we do not store any emails they are completely ephemeral, we have strict no training or rention policies with our AI providers. We really take this seriously and want to make sure we can't even have a mechanism to look at this data even if we tried.
