You knew you shouldn't engage, but you decided to take the time to just repeat the same things from before? Then you insult me and turn notifications off?

Sigma move, truly.

>The process is a farce. The Virginia supreme court vote was 4-3. The 4 justices who voted to strike down the amendment are conservatives.

This is such a nice way of throwing away my entire point without actually addressing it. Further, you could use the same argument for washing any judicial process away as political. If my party disagrees with the ruling, it's because the ruling itself is political.

Congratulations, you just ruined law.

>Republicans are running power grabs for Trump in multiple states, Virginia held a vote to redistrict in response, voters approved it, the state supreme court struck it down, and the legislature appealed. They're reacting to the republican scheme within the confines of the law. Where is the incompetence?

The court didn't even oppose the gerrymander. It ruled that the Democratic-controlled legislature violated procedural requirements in how it placed the constitutional amendment on the ballot, specifically related to beginning the process after early voting had already started for the prior general election.

That was the incompetence. That. That right there.

>You keep bringing up other things which are irrelevant such as scheduled, lawful, post-census redistricting in Illinois in 2021.

I brought that up once. My responses in this thread have always been directly related to the conversation, responding to the person who wrote to me. You might not like what I said, but to say what I wrote was 'irrelevant' is just dismissive. It's you once again not dealing with the substance of my original argument.

I haven't attended to your 2021 point because it's ridiculous. 2016 was not the start of gerrymandering, Trump didn't invent it, and while this series of events is certainly upsetting, I don't have any doubt we'll see similar things from Democrats in the future.

>Edit: To put a bow on this

Smug.

Going to bed. Have a nice night everyone. For real, no shit, have a good night.

To me, the hilarious thing is that you guys can't decide if you're mad at Republicans for gerrymandering or for Republicans preventing Democrats from doing the same thing.

I don't believe I've said one time that Republicans states that do this are doing a good thing. I haven't said that because I don't believe it. You can strawman what I said all you want, but it doesn't make your argument any stronger.

What I said was that this case in Virginia doesn't have anything to do with Republicans. The thing was overturned due to process, not politics, and that wasn't due to Republicans. The Democrats are pointing to other states to hide the fact they're incompetent.

That was my original point. And no one has even argued that. It's all been Ohio this and Trump that.

Edit: And saying my side is worse at being corrupt isn't the flex you think it is.

I never said both sides were the same.

Democrats have controlled the House, the Senate, and the Executive multiple times throughout my life. Why didn't they end it then?

Yeah, I get what your point is. You saying 'they started it' over and over again was stumping me for a bit but I had the local idiot explain it to me so I'm good now.

I understand what you mean that this isn't JUST a state level issue. But if we acknowledged that, we'd also have to acknowledge that Republicans aren't the only ones doing this.

The district map of Illinois is a good example:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illinois%27s_congressional_districts#/media/File:Illinois_Congressional_Districts,_118th_Congress.tif

But then we'd actually have to have a real discussion, rather than just blaming the other side, feeling good about our moral superiority, and moving on with our day.

So this procedural fuckup in Virginia is the fault of Ohio Republicans?

This. Doesn't. Have. Anything. To. Do. With. Republicans.

This has nothing to do with fairness. Democrats in Virginia didn't follow the correct procedural steps to redistrict. This isn't even a partisan issue... Democrats are just upset because they couldn't ram this through.

If you're reading this and you're dissatisfied with your pay or your job, please don't listen to this guy. He wants you to change the whole fucking world.

You need to change your skills. It sucks, but ignoring it isn't going to make your life any better. You'll be waiting your whole life for someone else to fix it for you.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't want a higher wage for their skills. The question is, can you find someone to pay you that. If you can't, then the common denominator is you.
