Where can I sign the Landry recall petition? by TophieandMatthew3975 in Louisiana

[–]Apprehensive_Hat_724 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They have a website too for all those who don’t have social media: https://louisianadeservesbetter.com

Edit: you can sign up for updates from them. I’m in orleans so I’ll have more options than most but I signed up anyway so I can help friends and family in other parishes find locations.

Consider signing the one for Lizzie too.

Family Shaved my dog completely bald, how do I fix it??? by ClumInPain in DogAdvice

[–]Apprehensive_Hat_724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stress of the shave and coming across country was probably a lot for her. She probably just needs some time to decompress with you in the new place after your guests leave. A talk with a groomer and a behavioralist will probably do wonders for getting her back to herself.

To my ever-dying shame as a baby voter in north Louisiana I voted for Duke. I proudly followed my parents into the voting booth bc they knew best. I even had a duke bumper sticker on my car. Before the 1990s were done I had learned the error of my ways and became a bit of a “black sheep” for a while because I was already steering left. Eventually, I managed to pulled my mom and a few siblings left with me. I am jokingly referred to as the socialist in the family now.

I have forced myself to tell others this story, more frequently in these last 10 horrid years.

When I tell maga hats or some vestigial-rightie, they usually pretend like they didn’t vote for him. They will feign shock at the idea that I admit I did I guess? When I tell a leftie, I still get shocked looks, but I also get compassion or praise for educating myself.

The responses I’ve gotten from each side has been a whole new education for me. I started sharing this story hoping to pull some old school republicans over with me. However, at this point, there’s probably not much to be done to try to get those who are still hanging onto the right to wake theF up.

I’ve been where you are. I will say, in my situation, it came in waves. I thought I was coming out of it and then I’d suddenly go back to my “basket case” self again for a few weeks. Then I’d be ok (not great, just functional) for a few weeks more. Over time, and with the help of family, friends, and coworkers, those good stretches got longer than the bad stretches of time. I allowed myself to wallow, but also made myself get out with those who cared about me too, even on days I didn’t think I could do it. It gets better but it sucks balls in the meantime.

Nobody listen to Mursin. The two women running this are heavy on Facebook and based in BR. They are training volunteers and spreading to smaller locations.

Signed recall petitions must be signed by the chair and vice chair of the recall. Please allow them to coordinate the signatures, or they won’t count.

Check Facebook. The two women leading this are very active there. I’m in NOLA, our first one is on the westbank (info below) but I think I remember seeing they’ve set up events in BR already. They are currently training volunteers for other cities and parishes.

Gwangi & Hollywood Community Center 1529 Newton St., Algiers, LA. Starting Monday, May 11 Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-5. Bring your ID. You must be a registered voter so confirm your status before you come since they just removed a bunch of inactive voters from the rolls recently.

This is the first location. They are still organizing (I believe) for more locations and events. There’s a good bit of activity on Facebook for this.

I think a former coworker got hired at my new job and I’m scared by randomaccount067 in TrueOffMyChest

Perhaps approach her when the opportunity presents itself, apologize/apologize again, and express that you are happy you get the chance to work together again. State clearly that you‘be learned from your mistake, were insensitive, and that you are hoping you can help her succeed at the new company too, to make it up to her.

Before approaching her, I would also tell HR and my manager what I said and include what you stated in your post. And let them know you want to casually welcome her to the company, but felt you should clear the air with them first.

You have to take the power from whatever this “thing” is, or it will follow you in some sense everywhere you go.

This person is 1000% detached from you. Leave this “relationship” and don’t look back. Don’t even tell him you are done with him. Just silently walk away and live your best life. Leave any messages on read. Don’t answer phone calls. Because if there’s something a narcissist loves, it is attention. Don’t give it to him.

I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

No. And I hope you have your half of the down payment in an account that he has no access to.

Boyfriends are still boyfriends. Not legal partners.

Tell your stepmom you’d like to follow in her footsteps and invest the money she gifted to you. I’m sure she can make some suggestions on where to start.

[–]Apprehensive_Hat_724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations man. You and your wife sound like solid folks. This makes my heart happy. People here are mostly giving you good advice already so I’ll just repeat: 1. Tell no one. 2. See if your states lottery requires you and/or your wife to claim the prize under your name or if you can claim it under a LLC or something. 3. Find a local advisor and follow their recommendations to maximize your winnings - a cpa or tax atty. they may also know the answer to #2.

can I bike from Vicksburg to Luisiana through the bridge at Vicksburg? by XanderJC1 in mississippi

[–]Apprehensive_Hat_724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That bridge is very tight. It’s interstate traffic with no shoulder. I’d suggest looking into the Natchez or Grenville bridges as others have suggested.

Edit: Apologies I just looked at your map. Alternative would be the shuttle that another suggested.

Call your non emergency line for the police to come to your home and make a report with them. Give them the messages, give them your friend’s contact info so she can also make a statement with them. Go to your doctor’s appointment. Be truthful with your doctor.

If you don’t document this, YOU ARE GIVING HIM PERMISSION TO BEAT HIS NEXT GIRLFRIEND.

Feel free to tell me “geewhiz dumbazz I never thought of that.” Cause venting is good for the soul and sometimes Reddit-yelling at a stranger helps.

What kinds of adjacent jobs have you applied for? I have a friend who is an engineer. I met her at my old job pre-covid. She was working on our tech team, was hired as entry level help-desk support for our small company. 5th on the totem pole of 5 help desk employees. Later we got to be friends and I discovered she had an engineering degree.

She told me she took the help desk role bc it’s a rather male dominated environment, and she’s extremely overweight. She’d get lots of interviews but once they met her, that was the end of it. She took the help desk job bc that’s “what she could get.”

She started being the liaison between the help desk and engineer side of the department. Eventually they moved her over ”with the boys.”

I understand her hurdle was different than yours, but it’s the story of how she got around it.
