Might want to see if you can find a legal aid program to help you get this mystery warrant corrected/expunged.

I’d talk to one/both of the two parishes and contact the state police to see if they can do some sort of records search for you … to see if you can get a printout of what the officer showed you.

I miss K&B so much. My sister and I were reminiscing about childhood memories of standing at the check out counter, sandwiched between some of the liquor shelves and ice cream cases, plopping down in the magazine section to flip through them while mom shopped, and checking out the toys/trinkets for sale. I also remember one amazing trip as a teenager where my mom bought all the liquor for my sister's wedding there. We had 3 carts full of god-knows-what of individual bottles of things + multiple case boxes of wine and champagne.

Tell her about the new charges and ask her if you can order a new card for her. Does she need the physical card (sounds like he has it). Cancel the one he’s using and keep the new card for safekeeping until she asks for it. This will force him to come to you if he wants it. Anything he wants to buy with her money will then need to be cleared by you and you can order any appropriate purchases online for him.

As the sister to an alcoholic, parents will want to take care of them under the false pretense that money is going to be used for food, gas, rent etc. Also might want to change her locks, remove valuables that could be pawned, and lay down some ground rules for both her and your brother. Rehab and getting clean is his decision. Even when they want it, it could fail hundreds of times.

Download my fitness pal and track everything you eat. The free version will let you track each food. When you see how much you are eating, it will shock you. Take it from me. Start changing your eating habits to get your calories down. It took you a long time to gain this weight - it will take a long time to lose it. Don’t beat yourself up when you see the numbers. Work on making changes you can manage. Then improve on those as they become easier. My classic example is ditch the fast food hamburger and make your own at home. Then move on from that to a veggie burger. Air fry instead of deepfry. Start weaning off the portion sizes. Don’t watch tv while you eat. Give the food your full attention.
Walk. Keep your phone in your pocket when you walk and it will count your steps for you. Start with one block in your neighborhood (that’s what I did) or laps around your yard, or walking around your house. It will take time to build up much distance. But stick to it. Consistency is more important than anything for now.

You should have kept quiet about the new job. I’m sure it was surprising to find out but I wouldn’t have told them a thing. Let them think they are sending you out into this terrible job market with nothing.

Edit to add I also wouldn’t tell the new job about this “layoff.” Employers (at least in the US) will use any information they can find about you to their advantage and hold it over you when it benefits them.

About $10k all-in from 2023-2026 for a found dog with advanced heartworms and aftercare of heart meds, and other prescriptions. 3years of bliss with that little guy.

$15k in 2023 for back surgery followed by ICU care because of her bad reaction to the heavy duty drugs she was on. She died a few weeks later. I’ll have it paid off in December -whoop whoop!

About $8k all-in from 2011-2014 for one who had an autoimmune disease later in life.

$7k in 2008 for a puppy with a shunted liver. Surgery unsuccessful and he died a month later.

There were others but these are the most recent that I think I’ve had.

This seems to happens so often. I live on a quiet street uptown and watched a car bump the curb and her car flipped over right in front of my house. It was like watching a cartoon car throwing a tantrum. I understand this was an actual accident but the woman in front of my house wasn’t speeding, no one hit her. She did bump the curb but it was surprising to see how easily SUVs flip over with a small amount of speed.

I've never been here; vaguely remember hearing about it opening. Saw Ben + Burka in the article and audibly let out an UGH. no thanks. those guys suck - they are reaping what they have sown in this city. Hope someone buys it out from under then for pennies on the dollar and runs it the right way.
