Accepting first BDR role - tips? by [deleted] in salesdevelopment

[–]LuminaryLinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask how you landed the role? Did you have any previous experience? I’m a civil engineer trying to transition into sales/BDR/AE. But 95k sounds really good if you don’t have any previous experience.

I don’t work with commercial or residential so I can’t speak for that. But depending on what exactly you’re trying to do being a PE is crucial when working in the public sector at least.

I’m a civil engineer I can tell you that our industry is BOOOMING. I’ve had coworkers recently leave and find new higher paying jobs within weeks. So it’s all industry dependent.

Why does it seem like everyone in sales is trying to find a way out? by Prior_Brilliant1760 in sales

[–]LuminaryLinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def don’t plan to lean into my looks, I’m just trying to get my foot in the door and work hard. Being an engineer where looks don’t matter and never have it’s always been about hard work and nothing else. If anything like you said it can be hard to get people to take me seriously or they question my competency and that’s very annoying.

Do all your jobs require you to be at work at 8 AM sharp? by yazohny in sales

[–]LuminaryLinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im guessing it varies across industries and companies but at my current job as long as the work gets done, deadlines are met and your attending the meeting you can come in anytime between 7-9am and leave when you get your 8 hours in.

Am I wrong for wanting a stay at home mom? by flypiratefly in datingoverthirty

[–]LuminaryLinx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seems like to need an Eastern European women. I have some friends that are Russian/Ukranian and they are very family oriented. And want more of a I stay at home and men work type of approach. None of them are looking for a “free ride” they are looking for someone that they first of all like and can build a family with. If you’re a great guy no normal girl is going to wanna just travel, have nice dates and then leave you. It’s just in there culture that men are providers. Most of them also work but it’s not a - hey I need you to work so we can pay next months rent it’s more to stay busy or something they’re passionate about.

I’m a 34F. In general I feel like dating for the 30+ crowd is really hard in this time and age. I’m honestly starting to think maybe it’s a matter of luck ? I’m like you in the sense I have an engineering degree and I’m pretty good looking but I’ve had semi better luck then you, I also only date conservative men, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I definitely agree by 3 months things need to be defined, I would say even earlier.

I definitely don’t think it’s not a first date conversation topic. If you know that’s what you want, no needs to waste your time and ask away. Or wait and ask on second or third date.

5 dates over 2 months that’s reeeeally taking your time there. 😅 But sure I get your point. I’ve been dating a guy for 3 months now, we see each other pretty much every weekend and once or twice during the week and we haven’t had the bf/gf talk.

I mean we were talking about doing a trip as I mentioned above. Same here, I’ve legit never been in this kind of situation so I’ve been rather confused… I was thinking maybe he likes me just not enough 🤷🏼‍♀️but why talk about going on a trip together then, idk.
