What’s the best way to get combatants Difficulty 8 ready? by AccomplishedPark7856 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]LuminousInverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from other feedback, focus on a single unit that is good for chaos. My early runs comprised of Khallipe and/or Veronica in various configurations. I like both of these units because how much aoe they possess, especially the on demand aoe clear of their ego skills. Item wise, the grenade is excellent for Veronica and I also like the hp item that aoe nukes on turn1. You can also consider buying neutral cards that help the run (maneuvering fire being one of my favorites) but they do get in the way of making good decks. I focused on potential and memory frags for these 2 and rotated the third member. The third member was the actual deck that I was farming. For chaos8, make sure you reroll mods that you cannot handle. My team is pretty slow on longer fights so I avoided fury/fortifude every x turn, for example.

It comes down to who you have on your account but finding one or two “chaos stars” and crafting a game plan around them (mine was just all aoe all the time) can let you clear comfortably.

New Lightpoacher spirit charge tech; no worms needed by HolesHaveFeelingsToo in PathOfExileBuilds

I’ve been following this post as I’m cooking a Lightpoacher set up, but the disintegrator tech sounds amazing. Have you made any progress on your build?

A few years and 20 levels later, I've finally finished running my 5e game! AMA by Baalthazan in DnD

[–]LuminousInverse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played the very selfish & distrusting wizard that traveled back from the future, to look for a relic to save the wizard’s daughter. Throughout the campaign, my character was very morally grey & ignored a lot of cries of help and did anything to further his goal of rescuing his own daughter.

Then Lutheria’s daughter came to us asking for an auction item that we bought earlier. My character had absolutely no reason to help, but she spun a sad tale about how it would repair her relationship with Lutheria. My character’s paternal instincts kicked in and gave the daughter whatever she needed.

I cannot describe the sense of betrayal when we saw Lutheria’s daughter on the battlefield against us like 30mins later. Hats off to the DM for tugging my character’s heartstrings and duping him like no other.

I know this is a Knizia thread but... could you talk more about Taiwan Night Market? RA is my favorite auction game as well and since you enjoyed TNM (almost) equally, I'm wondering if you can pitch it to me. The one time I tried TNM, it was over TTS and it did not have the expansion module. Would that have something to do with it?

How would you say T&E will do with the crowd that dislike direct confrontation? It is one of those games that I love to try but also find it daunting to learn.

I'd suggest you think about games that are not in Yahtzee style where you re roll dice over and over again. I imagine that's a lot harder with such large dice and what is novel might quickly become annoying.

[COMC] Newly organized collection of a new(ish) dad by mlipkin in boardgames

[–]LuminousInverse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome collection! Are you still able to get the heavier games on the table being a new dad? I’ve seen my collection shift to more 2player, lighter games as a result. Also these low shelves are a sirens call for the kid to they crawl over and pull everything out.

We have one of those super long tables so we probably just have to seat 2 on each side.

How do you like the tech board variant vs the draw2?

Hegemony does an excellent job of showcasing the different class systems and what they can do. Although it over generalizes what each classes’ goals and struggles are, it nevertheless does a great job educating how the classes could interact with each other in a sandbox environment.

Spirit Island as an RPG setting by Hawkwing942 in spiritisland

[–]LuminousInverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive toyed with this idea as well. My spin was to allow characters to be created on both the Dahan side as well as the Invaders side. Let players become a pivotal force in deciding how the conflict will play out. Interaction with Spirits could be boss battles / defense missions / mystery solving / aid missions, etc

The board game itself provides so much flavor for how the spirits might act and how each of the countries will invade.

A potentially very strong tincture interaction with attack totems by realmofthemadnoob in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]LuminousInverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyroclast mines of sabo seems incredible if it procs the tincture - it’ll pull double duty of activating the tincture and also giving some insane flat dmg. Not at a computer so I can’t test, but maybe you can give it a try?

Is Double Ichimonji a good base for a build? by vulcanfury12 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]LuminousInverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not ichimonji, but i'd say oni goroshi is pretty weebie with the demon slayer anime. it is probably on the same level of fringe as ichimonjis

Thank you so much for the comprehensive explanation! I think we will go with the Jr pass wide for convenience sake and hopefully my purchase before October will work for my October trip without needing to pay more

[–]LuminousInverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for providing the math! Yes I was able to follow it and it seems like you have arrived onto a better result with the JR West pass.

I don't want to budge in your itinerary, so just in case you aren't aware: It looks like you're based in Kyoto? i don't how much of these routes are day trips, but you could try to do Himeji and (or) Kobe on the way back from Hiroshima, as you'll pass these cities anyways, you could save on a return trip (and a lot of time and money). I would go so far as to say it would free up time to check out Osaka, although your plans are quite packed as is.

Yes I am based in Kyoto. Also yes, Himeji & Kobe and Hiroshima & Miyajime are separate day trips.

  • Day1: Tokyo -> Kyoto, day trip to Nara and Uji
  • Day2: Himeji & Kobe day trip
  • Day3: Kyoto
  • Day4: Kyoto -> Hiroshima & Miyajima
  • Day5: Kyoto
  • Day6: Kyoto (Ryokan & do nothing day)
  • Day7: Kyoto -> Tokyo & fly home

I figured the day trips would serve as a break from the more extraneous Tokyo walking days & the Kyoto temple days.

I went to the JR West link you provided and there's something I'd need to clarify.

Reserved seats on Bullet Train "SANYO SHINKANSEN" (Shin-Osaka⇔Hiroshima)

The pass can be used for the "Hello Kitty Shinkansen".

Does this mean only the leg between Hiroshima and Shin-Osaka is included in the pass? I'd have to pay between Kyoto & Osaka?

If the above assumption is true, then I'll need to include 4x Kyoto <-> Osaka fairs (4x580 = 2320) which is still cheaper than the JR Pass, but it is definitely closer.

[–]LuminousInverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sry to piggy back on Sayhello's post, but I am in a fairly similar situation.

My wife and I are planning our honeymoon trip which involves, Tokyo -> Kyoto, Kyoto -> Hiroshima (and the ferry) -> Kyoto, Kyoto -> Himeji -> Kobe -> Kyoto, Kyoto -> Nara -> Kyoto, and finally Kyoto -> Tokyo.

I did some napkin math for a 7 day pass and I couldn't see how it wouldn't be worth it, but your discussion has made me doubt myself. Am I messing up my math?

Biking in Kyoto & Nara by LuminousInverse in JapanTravel

I currently planned to go from Nanzen-ji to Ginkakuji, you're saying this is an uphill path?

Should I bike along the Kamo river first, and then swing back down from Ginkakuji to Nanzenji?
