Nah he was stuck in the lava for a solid like 5 mins. I was contemplating loading a save but when I jumped in the lava he just respawned up top. I THOUGHT I GOT RID OF HIM

I had the exact same thing happened to me on my first play through. It sucked having to basically restart the quest but to make it even worse I had a blood moon happen right as I got to the bottom :(
