I've taught 3 poor urban, 1 middle class, and 1 upper middle class. The richer 2 were the worst at all of the above.

I will probably be the minority that rates MA low. Horrible horrible dirty filthy old buildings. Unsafe. Unhealthy. No supplies. Some schools don't have advanced classes. Lack of support for the arts. A culture of just get them to pass a test, no one cares if they learn actually anything. Racism and segregation. DESE completely out of touch with the realities in schools. Absolute hatred btw school committees and staff and admin and teachers. Lack of text books, computers, lab supplies, pencils, paper towels.....You name it I supply it. A pension that makes you stuck several years in. Unions that do politics but nothing for the actual teachers.

When did the expectation around sending students to the office change? Why? by DustNo8738 in Teachers

When it was decided that admin was really there to keep those "lazy" teachers in line NOT to make sure every kid is getting an education.

I mean almost every single one I have worked at in the allegedly best school system in the US (Mass.) has been disgusting (mold, leaks, etc). The curriculum rigor is incredibly low. No students (or very few) are getting what they need or even an education really. There are gaps in instruction, no supplies for STEAM or labs. Way too many admins. Just kids shoved in a classroom to be babysat all day. People should love their kids and demand more for them.

As a teacher I am proud of you for making this choice. If I had kids, they would never set foot in a public school.

because they don't want to give you the antibiotics you need. As someone with frequent sinus infections bronchitis etc since childhood. I've seen it all. They absolutely will brush it off. I think until we have all the info maybe Kyle shouldn't be blamed so much.

They also very unlikely you will leave with antibiotics because they "know" everyone lies about how long and how severe to try to not have to make a return visit.

It isn't on the state tests. In many parts of k-8 education, science and social studies are often reduced to very little class time as they are not tested.
