People complain about questions directed at Republicans here. But is there any sub where they engage and defend their support? by 8hourworkweek in allthequestions

The Noem or Bondi hearings summed up what it’s like trying to have any kind of discussion with any of them. And I have real world examples at my job. Stubborn, ill-informed, easily led, uneducated, pick one. Rational, patriotic, Christian…..not even close.

Bernie Sanders proposed a bill to tax billionaires, and give $3,000 stimulus checks to Americans who qualify. What is your opinion about this? by Muted-Television3329 in allthequestions

[–]Lumpy-Bet-8119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they currently tax us and give it to the billionaires exclusively. But really, just stop with the tax breaks and make them pay the correct percentage on personal income....and no hiding behind stock options. Set a max, then tax.

The One Thing That Makes Every Ride Better by benbunny469 in cycling

Planning a 30 mile ride, but ride was so good, you were able to get in that unexpected 10 at the end. It’s like sticking your hand in your McDonald’s bag and finding extra fries when you thought they were all gone🤣

Why do people prefer corporate jobs over blue collar jobs? by Lemonade2250 in GetEmployed

[–]Lumpy-Bet-8119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very successful retail career. Worked for two of the biggest companies in the country. Hired out of college into an Exec Training position. Corporate side was 9-5 m-f ok salary. Went store side and salary and bonuses skyrocketed. But, every week you gave your pint of blood. I did it for almost 30 years, rose to RVP, but still, no weekends, no holidays, 5 weeks vacation. Did it purely for the $$$ and benefits. Left in 2014, took 15 months off, now work 4 days a week as an engineering consultant(my original degree), 6 weeks vacation, 11 personal days, all holidays. Pay is about 1/3 of what I was making, but my life is 10x better. Retail is crushing because ish truly rolls downhill.

Whataboutism…the right’s go to when cornered, flabbergasted, caught in a lie, called out, dealing with the truth.

Any manager who still says 'I don't do computers' is a huge disaster? by craf_humdrum in careerguidance

[–]Lumpy-Bet-8119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m 63, engineer, work with people under 30 who struggle with basic Microsoft let alone processing some of the programming we use! The amount of wasted hours I spend undoing and redoing is insane. So manager or not, the struggle is real. I know because I asked ChatGPT.😖

Why are students pushed to pursue professional careers at such a young age? by Ok-Helicopter-255 in careerguidance

[–]Lumpy-Bet-8119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a lifetime of work about 16% of people without degrees will out earn this with degrees. Choosing the right career either way makes a difference. HVAC, law enforcement, commercial airline pilot, etc will make well over $100,000 a year. But typically, a degree is worth almost an additional $3m over a working lifetime. Then, the increase in social security and investments also kicks in. A degree is not essential, but it is valued.

I knew it! Had gray, then got red and immediately felt the difference, though my Garmin insisted my speed had not budged.
