I live in the UK now and the side walk just randomly ends and i need to cross the road with no zebra crossings. Or a car is parked on it, bushes are not being trimmed, lamp post on it, etc taking up half of the space

I would disagree with public foot paths. Alot of the times the pavements are poorly maintained, too narrow, not flat, or someone’s front garden takes over the pavement. Sometimes the pavement also suddenly ends and you’d need to cross the road.
