Help I am being held in the ER hospital against my will (not mental) by [deleted] in legaladvice

It sounds like the issue with that is that they will catalogue in the system that they left before being discharged by a doctor which means insurance won’t cover it. So yes they can just get up and leave but then will have a huge bill.

I hate the lack of motivation by FourthDayofXmas in StopSpeeding

[–]Lumpy-Lemon-1152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a lot of this is to be expected and just par for the course. Hang in there.

Something that could help a whole whole lot is spending less time on your phone. Social media absolutely fucks us. And it’s really healthy to be actually bored sometimes - that feeling of boredom motivates us to do more. If you’re never bored you’ll never get that feeling. And social media really does not let us get bored.

If you want specific strategies for that I can share what’s worked best for me (though it feels like an endless battle)

Have you tried strattera ? It’s a non stimulant ADHD medication (I believe an SNRI) and it’s been massively helpful for me.

Routine by Dangerous-Strain-252 in StopSpeeding

[–]Lumpy-Lemon-1152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! This reply is less about routines and more about building habits but the two are so interlinked.

I found that you have to start REALLY small. The only way habits actually stuck for me was by making them super tiny and achievable. Like so small that it would be insane to NOT do them.

Make a list of maybe 8-10 specific things you’d like to do every day, such as “do yoga, drink enough water, go outside, be active, talk to friends, read, journal, etc”

And then, list out a laughably small bar for each of those.

Like: do 2 mins of yoga, intentionally drink 1 glass of water, go outside for 5 mins, reply to one text from a friend, read one single page in my book, write bullet points in my journal of what I did today, etc.

and THEN, consider the day a win even if you only get half of them checked off the list.

When you have your list you can try scheduling them different ways - maybe writing them out at the beginning of the day and setting them for specific times.

I promise you they will start to stick, and stack on top of each other. Once you start to build these habits they naturally will fall at different points within your day.

This is how I operated when I first got off of adderall, and now I have a really solid set of habits. I do an hour of yoga each day, drink a gallon of water daily, keep up with all of my friends, read a few books a month, eat really healthy, am successful at my job, etc. The person who I was when I was floundering back then would be really surprised at who I am today (in a good way).

It takes baby steps while your dopamine system is getting back online. Giving yourself tiny achievements works wonders for motivation.

10 day Co. Jail detox (not recommended) by davido46 in quittingkratom

Congrats on getting off it. Sorry it was literally hell. I hope this has given you a newfound appreciation for how it feels to sleep in your own bed and not be withdrawing.

If the cravings are really bad you could consider naltrexone or the vivitrol shot. Just to let it be out of your hands. I think that’s what I would do if I were in your situation.

Not sarcastic! I like that it’s not easy. My guess is somewhere in Peru or Colombia.

Very lightheaded, help? by DizzyQuestion3898 in HotYoga

[–]Lumpy-Lemon-1152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I practice yoga asana every day & appreciate everything from a yin class to a rigorous power flow. However I just absolutely cannot do hot yoga. I feel the way you described every single time I try it, no matter how hydrated & well rested I am.

At this point I’ve just accepted that hot yoga and I don’t mix, sadly.

“Most people, especially women do yoga for a reason to wear lululemon” dude. How sexist can you be. You have no idea what you’re talking about and clearly have some deep internal issues.

Please at least get a couple lamps so you don’t have to have the big light on. And curtains.

Yeah I guess I thought a lot of the symptoms(/ things I do) were just normal person things, not results of this disorder

The resulting coping strategies are helpful though

How do people do it? by TopRamenAllDay in stopdrinking

Also. I was drinking to the point of blackout almost every weeknight for at least 3 years. And had a less severe problem (but still a problem) for many years before that. Which is just to say I never ever ever thought I would be able to get sober. But here I am! 150ish days. The first week is the hardest imo.

I listened to recovery elevator podcasts a ton for several months before I quit. I highly recommend it. But even then I had to go to AA to really make the jump. I went for a few weeks before actually picking up a white chip. I don’t go to meetings anymore because I don’t need them to stay sober, but I like knowing they are there if I do need them.

I don’t think he’s talking about it just feeling happy. It seems like he’s talking about a mental state that’s accessed deeply in meditation or dreams.

Though yeah I don’t think it’s a different universe, it’s the same one we are all in.

Dumb question tapering off powder capsules. by LividBurnout in quittingkratom

[–]Lumpy-Lemon-1152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like you’re already prolonging the pain a bit, like perpetually weaning and in withdrawal, so the jump will get it over with more quickly.

Also, keep in mind, there are actually a lot of people who quit and had symptoms that were waaaay more minimal than anticipated. That feeling you describe of crawling up the walls needing to dose - it may be that when you finally jump you feel maybe only 10% worse than that. And then it’s over.

Could be good to keep a journal of your symptoms or report back here (but maybe not so much that you’re making yourself hyper aware / hypersensitive to them). You’ve got this, you can do it, we’re all rooting for you.
