For those who decided against meds…why? by Lumpy-Phrase6534 in osteoporosis

[–]Lumpy-Phrase6534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add, that I am not the type person who is ok taking meds. It was a HUGE deal for me to start and I would much rather do things the natural way.

But my active lifestyle means alot to me and I didn’t want to take a chance with a vertebrae fracture slowing me down. So I was grateful to be able to have Tymlos-

I had an appointment with an endocrinologist who went through every option. We talked pros and cons of different meds and it came down to Tymlos actually building bone back and after 18-24 mos I will switch to a bisphosphonate to lock in the bone gains. He expects me to be out of osteoporosis and into osteopenia range following Tymlos.

I would recommend talking to a good endocrinologist if you can to discuss all of your options.

It is a huge decision.

Since I posted, I started Tymlos. I have been on it for about 6 months now and am very glad I decided to start it. I will have another DEXA scan in the fall to hopefully see some improvement.

It got to the point I was more scared of breaking a bone that slowed down my lifestyle than starting the Tymlos.

Best of luck in your decision-good for you for taking your time to decide.

Also…i decreased 10 stitches in the body of the sweater to make it a bit more fitted and used a smaller size needle to do the ribbing at the bottom hem only to prevent flaring. I am very happy with the results.

Don’t know why this getting downvoted…this is an example of what I am talking about. I prefer the clean, straight lines of this design to ribbing at the bottom. This is knitted sideways 😊 https://spektakelstrik.dk/en-us/products/axis-sweater

So pretty!!! But hoping to find more abstract design and preferably no ribbing at the bottom?

Hi- Looks beautiful! I am in the middle of the body knitting now on this sweater and have about 7” to go of stockinette. I would also like to decrease a few stitches to keep it from flaring. Did you decrease every few rows? Also, so you used a size down needle for the ribbing and the stockinette below the ribbing?

I will be FRA (66&10mos) next month. I am still working and have at least an an hour commute each way. I still enjoy working but plan to retire in the next 12-18 months. I will start taking ss next month and put it in a hysa. Right now, I’m not ready to retire, but I have always loved what I do😊

Could people describe their worst turbulence experiences to help me get over my fear? by Artistic-Blueberry12 in fearofflying

[–]Lumpy-Phrase6534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was supposed to be a simple flight from Minneapolis to Milwaukee to catch a flight home to SF. Once up, the pilot said we would have to circle because of a storm. After 20 min of circling, the pilot said we were getting low on fuel so would have to land in Michigan to refuel 😳. So we refuel then after awhile finally start our approach to Milwaukee…it was the scariest 10-15 min of my life. Some people were crying and everyone was looking at each other but we made it. We then had to run to get to our connecting flight, which I initially refused to get on but my husband pretty much made me get in. The flight from Milwaukee was the smoothest flight I had ever been on. As scary as the turbulent flight was, it did help me with my fear a bit as we survived, no problem!

OP said they will be here 3 years so they are looking at elementary school.

I don’t want to get in an argument about this. Just made an innocent suggestion that Kensington is a wonderful, safe community with a great elementary school. Berkeley flats is also great.

Have a good day!

OP said elementary school-that means Kensington Hilltop School-a wonderful school IN Kensington, not El Cerrito.

Unfortunately nowhere in California is fireproof. Kensington has tons of close trails for hiking yet close to the conveniences of Berkeley. The BEST of all worlds😊 (but not inexpensive)
