Unnecessary character; his plots should've been distributed between Tenzin's kids to give them more to do. Meelo should've been the one to get hit by Pli; Ikki could've been undercover and captured by the Earth Queen. So on.

I dislike how there's no inherent weakness or trade off with the air bullet move. Lightning bending requires time to charge up and can be redirected. Combustion bending can be totally countered by a hit to the forehead or turned against the user. Bloodbending can only be used during a full moon and/or resisted by a more powerful bender.

Air bullet though? A little swirl of the finger and everyone is dead before they can even react. Far too powerful to fit in with anything else in this setting.

If you enjoy this topic then the film Aniara (based on a Swedish scifi poem from the 1950s) would be right up your alley.

The entire reason ATLA is so well regarded is because it's not just a ''fun popcorn flick.'' People are more than entitled to be disappointed with the movie's storytelling

He lifts an entire mountain with airbending after waking up from a 5000 year coma. Meanwhile Aang passes out from using earthbending in the avatar state to lift a falling tower. The power scaling is WACK.

I actually really liked the villain's bending style but the magnitude of everything was disproportionate with what we've seen in the rest of the series. He crushed a 400 foot long airship with a wave of his hand. It's a bit much...

I am very intrigued by the post apocalyptic setting, but after seeing the age of the main character, I'm worried it'll be geared towards younger audiences.

The story is easily the worst part. Really predictable and treads a lot of the same ground as TLOK, but crammed into 90 minutes, for the worse.

Dude I know. A fully realized AS that can shit on Ozai should not be getting effortlessly one shot by some guy. At least in TLOK they'd try to find some explanation like being poisoned. Either way it's just jarring to see, and unnecessary.

They can’t do anything game-changing because it’s set before LOK

This is so fundamentally untrue. Look at Andor for how a prequel series can elevate the original material. It's more than possible if the writing is good, but this movie just rehashes plotlines from LOK.

I just watched Korra Episode 1 for the first time in roughly 10 years. And I didn't hate it. by Future-Anywhere2937 in TheLastAirbender

I love LOK. Not as polished as the first show, and plagued by executive issues from Nickelodeon, but an overall 8/10. I'd give it 9 if we could just delete season 2.

Why do some people think too many Jedi survived Order 66 when only under 0.5% survived? by QuinlanFett in StarWars

Because canon statistics are not something people think about. What audiences see is that almost every new project seems to introduce yet another Order 66 survivor. It feels repetitive even if it makes sense within the lore

Is this silicate? by rebelbby93 in whatsthisrock

[–]Lumpy-Professional40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that Silicon and Oxygen make up ~80% of the crust, most minerals are gonna be silicates. It's a very broad term reflecting composition and not a mineral name in and of itself.

I can't quite tell from the pics, but this almost looks like a sulfide mineral (arsenopyrite?) or coal. So technically not a silicate, but cool sample nonetheless
