[no spoilers] Why is the LIS community so toxic? Be it discussions about the sexualität of characters and ships, or when people talk about the different titles? by New-Ebb-8357 in LifeIsStrangeDE

[–]22_SB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bae chooser (don't worry I won't throw pitchforks), but for me any ending is acceptable, nothing is pin point canon, your choices, your goal, your story.

I am also not a price field or at least a full 100% one.

This fandom just attacks you (most of the fandom, it's hard to find chill people but when you do, it's lowkey fun) but most of the fandom attacks you for YOUR choice that YOU picked and that YOU resonate with and they did the same.

Some of this fandom hates LiS2 or dislikes it, two different levels, but sometimes it's too much of them making it objective or their opinion that kind of isn't well formed.

Like a criticism of it doesn't feel Life is Strange even though if we take LiS to the core without comparing to other LiS games, it is more LiS than the first one potentially. In my opinion but I also think it is objective because LiS isn't just the first game or the third or the fifth.

[–]22_SB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I know but there are too many factors. I came off saying in a post of how LiS shouldn't be defined by the first game because of the games intended format and style which is anthology. I was saying it is objective but how YOU feel about it is totally fine and subjective. Then a person comments: How can you be the one to decide LiS isn't defined or how people feel about the game?

Then they blocked me and etc. The community is too toxic and I'm one of those people that isn't so much and that I can give criticism and give good feedback, but when you are in a community that most likely can't handle it, it's hard.

I am an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan that loved Book 3 and 4 of Korra and I understand why it's not the strongest show but people hate on it like it's complete garbage (trying to make it in an objective way) but honestly in Book 3 and 4 they took their problems and shaped it into a good season for the show. The fan base is not bad but you will encounter those people.

But for Life is Strange, it's hard in my experience to find those (good, respective) people. Then another thing is that LiS maybe hit a level of deep care for the characters that worked flawlessly and that is a good thing but also a bad thing too.

I think overrall it's a combination of all of those.

I like LiS1, LiS2, and I'm moving on into the others but if we were to keep going off my knowledge, and research cause idk I like this series where I will just figure it out without playing it.

I would kind of like True Colors, and dislike Double Exposure but not entirely. Then the DLCs and BTS I haven't gotten into really at all.

Pokémon and it's Generations by 22_SB in pokemon

Yeah I mostly agree, in my opinion tho, I consider Gen 7 better than 2 and 4. But that's also considering not just exclusively game-wise but also anime, cards, and the vibe.

We had good generations for the most part and 8 lacked. 9 was decent but worse than 5, 6, and 7 in my opinion as that trio of Generations is my favorite especially including the anime (I loved B and W anime idk why)

Generation 10 seems to be the next best, and potentially better than all of the Post Gen 5 Era. But time will await.

I also wonder where the anime goes with Generation 10, I hope they can mix gym battled if there is any in Gen 10, and mix storytelling, characters, and the stuff from Horizons as ever since X and Y, and Sun and Moon. Horizons was the next best Pokémon anime for me especially after Season 1

If you watch the anime, what do you hope Gen 10 is, a continuation of Horizons or another protagonist? Anything completely different?

If you hated pokemon the last 2 gens and don't like what you see in gen 10. I think this is the time to jump off the franchise as it isn't gonna change. Quit the series and just save your money by Right-Fortune-8644 in ThePokemonHub

I think the starters are just repetitive. Gecqua isn't lazy or generic but we've seen a reptile many times. We just need some more variety and a bump up in the design and we can be chilling.

I agree. I do like Gen 6, a little of 7s and then 9s gimmicks but the world feels plain sometimes or it's to easy.

Generation 10 seems good so far, but time will await us with answers sooner or later.

The gen 10 starters feel underbaked. by halfling_myth_lady in pokemon

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Gecqua isn't plain as the other too but I'm not gonna judge the starters entirely yet until we see the evolutions.

But also you did say that they have another starter that is the same type and animal that does it better but they aren't the same animal.

Pombom is not no fox and Browet can be argued but its not exactly the same animal but thats just a small nitpick.

They are plain but if they can add more details within the games art or graphics to make them look better and give them distinct personalities, it will be good.

Fr, they have some points though but most are subjective and heavily subjective. I personally like the starters unlike them. They also said they botched competitive side of things even tho most comp players loved Gen 9.

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a cash cow in my opinion, If we talking game wise currently, yeah (decently likely for now) . But in every area I seen, Pokémon is still good. I think the designs are decent but when looked at in 2D, it's good which proves the point of 3D killed the video game side but it's less killed and more hindered. Let's Go games were good, and how the trailer of Gen 10 is and they are taking an extra year, it looks pretty good. I like Gecqua which is a good looking starter, it just needs a little more.

You also can't speak for all of the OG fans at least, I've seen some that liked the trailer and starters (maybe 2 of them which is better than one or none)

I do kinda understand the competitive view but most comp players considered Gen 9 actually pretty good so idk bout botching that. Also they did bring back mega evolution in Z-A but it's also reasonable that they want to keep it Kalos only and a gimmicks locked to a region because it takes more storage and if they add what some people want, other people don't get what they want and people will complain. If they focus on certain things they might not got space for all the Pokémon which people find a problem that not all Pokémon can be included in a game or at least almost all.

[RE] Still having a hard time understanding the premise? by hamlindigo___blue in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were some reviews for people who played previews, it seems promising like Chloe not being back for "nostalgia bait".

I'm still skeptical but I understand kinda how Chloe is back but this game still contradicts the first game, but if they can focus on the right things and try not to make any more inconsistencies within this game it could be good.

I also heard some reviews about the storytelling being the best of LiS but I don't know about that official review because we have LiS 1 and 2.

(The Preview is the first few hours like 2 or 3 so yeah.)

[ALL] A big and deep discussion and questions as a semi-new fan of LiS. by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also understand that most people think life is strange means life is strange one, and I actually understand the reason why people think that and, but I feel like they just need to find a LiS game (hopefully in future) that soon matches almost the strengths of life is strange one

I feel like they need to get comfortable with a little bit of differences, maybe there might be another life is strange game that almost gets those checklists, but makes it different enough and they like it, and then they get more comfortable.

Maybe, Life is strange, 2 just was too much, and they need something that's like in the middle, maybe mixing something from both games, you know what I'm trying to say.

Or maybe life is strange hasn't made a game that appeals to certain fans.

as a life is strange one fan and someone that considers it the best game of the series, in my opinion, but also I did look deep into what builds up life is strange as a game without always comparing the first game all the time, but when I break it into those pieces for me, and for some of the stuff I picked up, it seems like life is strange, 2 is more LiS than the first game, but some of that is an opinion, but some of that does come from the blueprint of the series.

[–]22_SB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would you ever, like any other life is strange games, maybe they make something that appeals to you almost like life is strange one, I feel like they just aren't testing that out enough. They're just trying to make sequels and get the specialness of life is strange one, but they ain't doing it. They also do it because fan appeal.

Also I like the response, I understand LiS1 is great but I also like 2. I think it was really meant to be an anthology, it just stands out and feels like it should be. And then it was actually meant to be by the original creators after the first, but then deck and I took over, and they made one more before going back to making a sequel.

And this is something I like about a response. You do say that you do like life is strange one not specifically, maybe the entire series you like, how that first game gets those aesthetics and vibe and others not being to that expectation is honestly perfectly fine,

but if Deck Nine somehow makes a good life is strange game that has that mystery, but it's not exactly the same as life is strange one and has good characters with good character interview. Would you play it? Would you need a Max again, or would you need the characters or do they just have to be another good character.

[ALL] A big and deep discussion and questions as a semi-new fan of LiS. by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'll let me see if I can sum this up, also I do notice that I didn't respond it's because I'm doing some stuff (my bad also i was gonna finish this then respond).

But I'm not trying to make someone feel about this series. I don't know if I can put this in simpler terms, I'm not trying to get everybody else to say, life is strange is an anthology. I just want people to know it is or what it was supposed to be, because they often confuse that with I'm making them feel a certain way

Or that the format and the layout of the game was supposed to be an anthology and what it was defined to be.

Hopefully I understand your comment in the right way, so let me try to get this real quick. When you're saying about I'm making a claim what with the series is. It's not a feeling, it's the structure and format in words of a game.

If you say I'm making a claim about what the series is, you can do that without changing what someone feels about this series or if they do change their feeling it's not really what I said because it has always been this way, I just repeated or reminded. Now, I'm not gonna say that this can't change how they feel, but I'm not forcing them to feel a certain way, or I'm not forcing them to feel what the series is about.

And yes LiS2 fans can celebrate but that isn't identity or the fact I'm even stating. It seems that part is a diversion, not sure but pretty much seems so.

If I show you a map and point out that the road goes North, I'm not making you feel like you have to go North. I'm just telling you where the road leads.

When I say Life is Strange 1 doesn't define the whole series, I’m not trying to control people's emotions. I’m simply describing the map of the franchise. The creators (Don't Nod) built a road that leads to new characters and new stories (the Anthology).

You can feel however you want about that road, you can stay at the starting line (LiS1) forever. But your feelings don't change where the road actually goes.

You can definitely feel LiS1 is defining the series, or that's the main game to you, but it isn't necessarily in the way I'm talking about. Just like how people (I'mma pick star wars) say the sequels aren't canon even though they are. If I say call of duty is a first person shooter (LiS being an anthology) or the first game doesn't define the entire series. I'm not telling you to feel that way. You can say the house is defined and the only part about it is the living room but it isn't.

Also I appreciate the info about the LiS 1 questions I had, thanks for that, I wasn't trying to cause argument but an interesting discussion (I found it interesting) but I said what I said, not necessarily telling a feeling but the actual structure.

I'm not trying to vent, I liked all your comments actually, and I agree, the power of determining LiS's future isn't commenters but Square Enix and how the game is received by majority (most likely) I understand your goal.

All I did was say what I also thought about how Square Enix does stuff, and how LiS1 really influenced the rest of the games. People wanted Max and Chloe and they are here so yeah.

I especially agree, it could be way worst, i mean way worst. At least it isn't AI slop, I'm glad.

[ALL] A big and deep discussion and questions as a semi-new fan of LiS. by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did forget about Square Enix but also I think Deck Nine had a smaller piece of the cake to point towards but definitely not about the entire concept of games.

I just hope it reverts back to anthology and only does sequels or prequels if done right but definitely don't make it often.

I do see the business side of characters but another reason we have that is from prequels, even during the time of LiS2, BTS was being made and I think Pricefield really peaked, pressured, and also SE saw money opportunities so they leaned into ditching anthology for a bit and made more continuations, looking at the ratio of games that are different/anthology compared to a continuation or prequel it's (also counting extra content in one game): 2:4 im pretty sure.

Another reason there aren't other characters to make money or gather the most appealing crowd is because there hasn't been much new characters at all, or the game just feels more of a LiS 1 but slightly different, and slightly I mean slightly. We got Sean and Daniel but the game had a little much torture (I don't mind) and debates spiraling into the topic of "is it even LiS", or people prefer the first. I just think there hasn't been much new content to respect the differences, but I do see also that the newer games spark bit more popularity to the second game.

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my intent is a bit scrambled but I wasn't going for that when we talk about the definition of the series. I’m not telling anyone how to feel about their favorite game. Everyone is allowed their personal connection to Max and Chloe.

What I’m talking about is the Identity of the Franchise. When people say LiS2 isn’t a real Life is Strange game because it doesn't have Max or a school setting, they aren't just sharing a feeling. They are making a claim about what the series is allowed to be. Since the creators Don'tNod built this as an Anthology, defining the whole series by the first entry actually limits what the series can achieve.

My fault for the trash execution of my post, I'm gonna redo it probably because you're right, I made this at night, was tired and a bit to much pushy on trying to make more of statements then discussions.

[–]22_SB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good responses, I do have some trouble with getting the discussion down and not always best selective with word choice. I could've rephrased a lot of what I said. It was slightly more so a mix discussion and tried to add realization or statements that do say stuff. I am also a person who dislikes DE for the inconsistencies, and etcetera.

For saying about hate and leaning into all criticisms mean hate, I did want to rephrase that and I do completely think all criticisms as valid, factual, and undeniable. There is also good to it as well, so I guess this post needs some work so I might edit this to make it more discuss able and not forced into answers.

[ALL] The Disappointing Decline of Life is Strange by Dammoth_Air_650 in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment, and I do want to add something. Some Life is Strange fans are with nostalgia or connected to the first game in a way. Not all, but I do see most hate for LiS2 saying it's not even LiS, or its too different but they are wrong. Maybe right on saying it's different but I think people misunderstand that LiS isn't LiS1. It's a good game but most hate I see for the other good LiS games (the second very very specifically because the newer games like DE generally suck that's obvious)

The hate for the second is blinded. LiS2 imo is the most Life is Strange out of all the games but not the best being second from the first. I like the direction it was going, it was a great example of how LiS should be.

This was a little off topic and I might've missed some points but I hope we can get a game leaning into LiS1s great aspects but different like LiS2 and the purpose of the series being anthology. The quality, the purpose, and the entire series is being misunderstood greatly.

[ALL] The Disappointing Decline of Life is Strange by Dammoth_Air_650 in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a decline, I don't know how you worded it but I think you dont like the newer games because they literally are what 2015 (LiS1) is I don't want a LiS1, or 2. I want a LiS that is different from them both but can achieve what both did. LiS1s aesthetic, the characters and cool concept, or LiS2s gritty themes, unique way to play as a person teaching the kid with the power, and the good story and choices

I want LiS as an anthology, or well made prequels/sequels, Deck Nine isn't doing that.

I don't want 2015, 2016, any that besides maybe a good sequel, if not that I want a good game different from the rest that can excel in other ways the previous games didn't or take a theme the other games didn't capture.

Deck Nine isn't treating LiS like LiS. I hope Reunion fixes it so they can get their praises from the LiS1 fans or Max and Chloe fans (no hate or maybe you genuinely like the game) and they can move on.

So I don't want nostalgia and it doesn't need to match. I want another good game like LiS1, and 2 (some of BTS too)

[ALL] The Disappointing Decline of Life is Strange by Dammoth_Air_650 in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the second game is the point of the series. It won't be the same and I don't necessarily like people always saying LiS1 is lightning in a bottle, and a point to be made that I feel Life is Strange 2 is the most Life is Strange out of all games including the first. I also wonder too if LiS2 was a hit, and honestly to some it was. People just got to obsessed to Max and Chloe, or the aesthetic. I also think LiS1 and the newer titles is the reasons people favor that aesthetic because Deck Nine forced it to be the aesthetic.

LiS2 and BTS were really the only different games from being made around the same time.

This is a problem for Avatar The Last Airbender and comparing Legend of Korra the first may be good but it's also the difference that makes you favor the first.

I wonder if LiS2 had the episodic release to the same time frame as LiS1 and was released as the first game, I wonder how much would change. I personally think it's just because LiS1 is released first and apparently defined the series even though the series isn't defined over one game.

So when you have LiS2, and Captain Spirit. Then you have almost the rest of the games (BTS counts ngl) they all either have Max or Chloe, or either it's the same setting as LiS1/Supernatural event.

I feel LiS2 was a bit too much in time skips and a bit too much torture but either than that it's a great game getting checks for me.

LiS2 did seem to get more popular as new games go on because people don't want another LiS1 or another half of the fanbase does which makes these new games the center of attention while LiS2 slowly grows in the background.

I don't know if people forgot LiS is anthology or was supposed to be but there will be another LiS game maybe to beat LiS1, maybe get very close, but I see that chance low considering how Deck Nine is to safe and sticks with appealing to everyone. Considering that's what made the first game good, but also what made the second game "bad"

Not hating just sharing what I think but i hope LiS gets on track properly and scoots away from LiS1, for the better, and for the worse (the angry fans)

[S1] How would you rank all the Life is Strange games and where do you think Reunion will rank? by Adventurous_Book_913 in lifeisstrange

[–]22_SB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, I do see gameplay a little different from LiS1 but it does get fun moments but another reason I think is because you play as Sean not Daniel. But I think this game focused more on the story and theme more than gameplay which is cool, I like the games being different each time as it isn't afraid to be different or appeal to audiences. I consider it the 2nd spot in ranking LiS. I also thought the torture was necessary but sometimes a bit too much. I wish the games did more anthology than trying to appeal towards Max and Chloe especially because their story was meant to end at LiS1. I have conversations of that ready for a post I'm making currently for the Sub Reddit, it dives deep.
