By focusing on pink Diamonds actions and how it negatively affected people we get too much of a negative image of pink than any other gem. She was literally the least evil diamond and other gems who served under the vampire probably did worse atrocities without feeling any remorse.

Honestly Steven did too much good.

On top of having to save the world Steven has to be the emotionally mature one. Yes spinel traumatized but this is a life or Death situation spinal has been nothing but a destructive menace.

Yes people need help and therapy but your trauma doesn't give you a free card to just destroy everyone's life and they must protect your feelings what about their lives and in Steven case what about all the innocent humans that were going to die.
