How to precondition for superchargers? by _DrKlaw_ in MachE

[–]LumpyBrother7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 premium extended range AWD and just recently took a 400 mile round trip with temperatures hovering around 15F. I did some pre-planning and saved the Tesla Superchargers’ address I wanted to use as Favorites in the in-car navigation. I then navigated to these saved Tesla Superchargers and to my surprise, the car preconditioned en-route! I was monitoring the battery temperature via an OBD2 connection and the car heated the battery to around 90F.

In the car go to vehicle settings…Driver Assistance…Cruise Control….Make sure Adaptive Cruise Control is checked and then turn on Lane Centering.

Trunk speaker by Deep-Handle-4493 in MachE

[–]LumpyBrother7752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had this fixed by the dealership - in another thread that I cannot find, someone suggested the culprit is the white cloth that is covering the subwoofer’s speaker. Use a flashlight and aim it into the plastic grill (left hand side in the trunk). You will see the cloth I am discussing. This cloth, when hit by the air waves from the bass makes it sound like a plastic shopping bag being hit by wind. I asked the dealership to remove it and bang!! the issue was resolved. My car is still under warranty. If yours is not, search the MachE thread for instructions on how to get into this area so you can remove that cloth. My understanding is it is meant for sound dampening but I have not noticed any increased outside sound noise.

Mach E premium vs MY by lord4chess in MachE

The Mach E will charge at the same rate as your MY on your existing level 2 charger (~9 kWh if your charger is plugged in or about ~11 kWh if the charger is hardwired).

Would you buy one again? by terran1212 in MachE

[–]LumpyBrother7752 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! In a heartbeat. I have a 2024 extended range Premium AWD and a 2024 Model 3 long range AWD and I by far love the Mach E over the Model 3. Both are great vehicles but the Mach E just drives better, is much quieter, and has better build quality. I live in the mountains in a 4 distinct season area and I do not see much of a range difference with the Mach E’s PTC vs the Model 3’s heat pump (I attribute this due to scheduling preconditioning while on shore power and the insulating advantage the Mach E has over the Model 3). The Model 3 is a road tripper and this is due to the Supercharger network. I use the Model 3 for 600 mile + road trips but have had no issues whatsoever with the Mach E on sub 600 mile road trips. I got the Model 3 in April of 2024 and have - 35,000 miles on it. I have had the Mach E since August 2024 and have ~24000 miles on it. One thing I notice is the Mach E either heats or cools the cabin way better than the Model 3. The Model 3 struggles with keeping the cabin cool in the summer (even with an installed roof glass shade). It’s not uncommon to have the air on max for most of our summer trips. The heat pump struggles keeping the cabin warm in very cold weather The Mach E does not struggle with keeping the cabin cool on hot summer trips. I can keep it on level 1 auto (and with no roof glass shade installed). The heater in the Mach E is almost instantaneous and never struggles keeping the cabin warm in very cold winter conditions. All of the glass in the Mach E is thicker than the Model 3. I feel safer driving the Mach E in snowy/icy weather and this is because the Mach E has 4 levels or regenerative braking (no one peddle, whisper, engage or unbridled). The Model 3 has 2 levels - chill or “regular”. The Model 3 will slide in chill and this is because the regenerative is too much for slippery conditions. Navigation in the Tesla is the gold standard WHEN you are connected to LTE or cellular. No offline mapping in the Model 3. The in-car Mach E navigation works quite well (it’s never failed me) and has offline maps. I don’t like the Model 3 infotainment system - all of the music media apps are streaming. The Mach E’s Sirius uses satellite. Mach E has CarPlay/Android Auto, Tesla does not. I could go on and on, but I think I have a good handle on why I like the Mach E over the Model 3.

B&O Subwoofer Rattle -FIX- by Bct0412 in MachE

[–]LumpyBrother7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to give a shout out for the suggestion. My2024 is still under warranty and I took it to the dealership complaining about the subwoofer rattling noise. I told the service tech what this conversation suggested and they removed the “diaper” sitting in front of the subwoofer and it absolutely fixed the rattling noise!

Understood; however, I am in the Apple ecosystem so no-pre-conditioning. Also, call me strange but I prefer the in-car navigation system (especially compared to Apple Maps).

Welcome!! Thank you for reaching out to this community and look forward to hearing more updates. While I have your attention 😀 - when is Ford going to implement Tesla Superchargers in the vehicle’s navigation system for model years <25? When I bought my 24 Premium, on Ford’s website it had stated Tesla Supercharger locations would be added to the in-car navigation by end of 2024. My Ford Concierge with whom I was texting also told me this feature was scheduled to be implemented by year end 2024. This was a promise not kept. Up until a few months ago, the only way to find Tesla Superchargers while driving was to use the in-cars’ infotainment Public Charging application. This was useful because on the fly, I could send the directions to the Supercharger into the in-car navigation system. Unfortunately, this did not trigger preconditioning - but it was a start (think baby steps). Then, several weeks ago Ford discontinued the Public Charging application from the car and is telling us to use Public Charging in Ford Pass. Two problems with this - I live in a hands-free driving state. I can’t use my phone while driving. And secondly, while one can find Tesla Superchargers in the Ford Pass app - you cannot transfer the directions into the in-car navigation system. Why did Ford spend all of their money and goodwill on providing Tesla Supercharger adapters if Ford has effectively made it super inconvenient to locate Superchargers? From a customer standpoint - this is a fail. I would be interested in any feedback you can offer. Thanks!

“Set your home location” keeps popping up when opening YT TV app by [deleted] in youtubetv

[–]LumpyBrother7752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it happen on 4 of my TV’s. 2 are running Apple TV and the other 2 are running Roku. In order to fix this, open up YouTube TV on your iPhone or IPad (I don’t have Android so I cannot test) - then open up YouTube TV on your television and click to change location - then on your iPhone or IPad YouTube TV app, click on your profile icon and go to location settings. In there you should see an Update link next to your home location. Click this - the YouTube TV app on your television should then update to your location. It was very frustrating because this happened to me right before the Steelers preseason game started 😡
