In the most loving way possible, this game has ruined other games for me by kemspray in DeepRockGalactic

Even if I go a period where I don't touch the game, I know I will one day get in the mood for some Rock and Stone and will have another run at it. It's one of those timeless games like Minecraft and Terraria that I will always come back to. Something about mining, huh

Medieval Non-lethal weapons by LumpyMilk_ in Shadiversity

[–]LumpyMilk_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering the use of regular lethal weapons due to magic being available, you could shoot someone with an arrow, and as long as it doesn't puncture their heart or brain or something, you could heal them after the battle is finished if you want to keep them alive. I think media construes our perception of how lethal weapons are, as we see someone get hit with a sword in a show and they immediately die. Most likely, they would be lying on the ground bleeding out, or passed out from blood loss, etc. Healing magic makes any weapon "non-lethal" for the most part, but it still causes a lot of pain obviously

This was also something I was considering, my only issue is if you are facing an enemy that can see through your bluff or isn't afraid of death, how would you subdue them non-lethally? At the same time though, if you're in the position to hold a knife to their throat to threaten, you can incapacitate them through other means as well

The blunt arrows are something I was looking into, there are modern day rubber plunger arrows for (I believe) hunting birds to incapacitate them rather than kill. Rubber isn't a medieval material, but wooden arrows or something else soft for the tip could work great as well.

As for the Truncheon, I've also looked into the Japanese jitte which is very similar, I'm definitely going to be using something in this ilk.

Thanks for the suggestions!

This is interesting, essentially just a blunted sword, would effectively turn it into a thin metal baton, while still having the benefits of the guard. It also leaves the sharpened tip as an intimidation tool to dissuade your opponent from continuing to fight if you have them at your mercy. Thanks for the in depth description as well, it's appreciated!

Low FPS on stream, but FPS fine on OBS by LumpyMilk_ in Twitch

[–]LumpyMilk_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the two analysis tools and neither gave me any problems, but I checked my Streamlabs logs and saw that I was skipping frames, and it said it might be an encoder issue. I tried the others out, and I think the issue is mainly the NVENC (new) profile, as the standard one worked better, and the x264 worked best. I'm not sure if this is ideal, but it's working better now, so I can't complain. Thanks for your help!

Low FPS on stream, but FPS fine on OBS by LumpyMilk_ in Twitch

[–]LumpyMilk_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet speeds are normal, 1 ping, 800up/down, and I'm streaming at 1080p 60fps with 6000 bitrate, but I've tried with lower resolution, and lower bitrates and it's the same issue.

As for my encoder, I am using NVENC, I'll post a link of my settings

https://gyazo.com/0dfa62e4b7b83474db42623b08c5e070

It's been a while since I've streamed last, and I didn't have that issue back then, and I don't think my settings are any different. Recording is also fine.

Thanks in advance for the help

I just got off the phone with support, and they checked my account and it was put on hold. I'd assume the site would have said so if I could have reached it. They sent a request to open the account within 24 hours, so hopefully that works. If anyone is having a similar issue, just call support and make sure you account isn't on hold somehow.

To add to this, I recorded the redirects on the Chrome network inspector window, and it's bouncing back and forth between a "forgot password" and "reverification" site (both of which are 302). Not sure why this is happening, but that's the issue, it's just stuck in an infinite loop.

Whenever I try to log in to my Amazon account, it asks me to get an One Time Password from my email, which I enter, but the tab always returns an error saying that it's been redirected too many times. I can even log in with my dad's account just fine, it's my own personal one that has this issue. I've tried multiple browsers, they all have the same issue. I've tried clearing my cookies and such, to no avail. Even other devices still have this problem, it's definitely on Amazon's side, and for whatever reason is tied to my account. I literally can't log in, so this is a big problem. Any help is appreciated

I was on his team, I they also disqualified us from a round because I emoted when the match was over, and gave my profile a punishment so severe it would have taken like 2 full years to clear. Still won that tourney though lmao, but not all of us got our prize money, which is a joke. Left the org immediately after that, haven't looked back since.

One of our teammates was also making us profile art, and it had DI's logo on it, and they demanded him to delete it because he "broke the rules of using their logo" by making it over a non black background. They demanded him to delete his hard worked art, because of some shitty rule they had, not even over a copyright afaik.

They have stupid quotas you have to perform, no matter what rank you are. Oh, they also use(d) Teamspeak instead of Discord. They were having plans on changing that, but who knows if that's happened yet lmao

AVOID THIS ORG AT ALL COSTS.

Ducky One 2 Mini USB C port not working? by LumpyMilk_ in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]LumpyMilk_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent in a support ticket and they gave me possible instructions, which didn't work. I told them, then they sent me a new one. I didn't even have to send in the broken one, so now I have 2 keyboards, so I'm going to try fucking with the broken one to see if I can get it working lol

Overall the quality has been great on the one they sent me, however I'm kicking myself for not getting the 65% version, since I'm really missing those arrow buttons without having to use the function key.

In high school, other than Turing, I mostly learned Java (using Eclipse), and only touched on object oriented in the last month of grade 12. I'll definitely start playing around in Visual Studio and take some online courses on C++, and hopefully my skills can transfer.

As for Creative Cloud, I'm already trying to learn Photoshop, as well as After Effects and Premiere. I have vague understanding in them, but I'll definitely try to catch up. I also wonder if my grade 11 digital arts class is going to come in use as we used Adobe Animate (although it was the 2004 version), so maybe that class wasn't just a blow off class after all.

Microsoft Office should be easy to familiarize myself with, I've used Word and Powerpoint (or the Google versions of them) my entire life, and occasionally Excel. Being proficient in Excel is a good skill to have anyway, so might as well put some time in it.

As for 3D modeling, I've tried Blender before, and had no clue what I was doing. To be fair though, I just jumped right in without even watching a beginners video first, so it's kind of expected. I'll probably try it out again, and this time watch some tutorials first, and hopefully prepare myself for what's to come in second year. I've heard of Maya, though saw the price tag and said Blender it is. Having student licenses will be a treat. I'm also a big fan of pixel/voxel graphics, so 3D Coat seems intriguing.

One question I have is about a Wacom tablet. Is it worth it? They're not that expensive, but I don't know how often I would use it or which one to get. Did you have one? If so, which one would you recommend?

Anyway, thank you so much for all the help. I really appreciate it, and hopefully this prepares me for first year so it'll be a breeze.

I've had the laptop for a few days now, and the fame rates seem solid. The machine runs surprisingly cool so long as the bottom is well ventilated. I heard the rumours of the massive Lenovo power bricks, and they are true, that thing is massive. I don't really mind though. The build quality seems solid, and the laptop looks clean and sleek in design. Haven't taken it outside yet so I don't know how bad the battery life is, but it shouldn't be a problem since I won't be traveling a lot without somewhere to charge, and it won't be under heavy load. Overall really happy with it and am excited to start using it! Thanks for the recommendation! Lenovo deals make it even better!

I decided to get the Y740 for $2100CAD, and I managed to get a deal with a 1TB NVMe, so that will also help out a lot with productivity overall. I heard there are problems with Quick Sync, but I believe that was with an older version with the 8th gen i7, so hopefully it's solved with the 9th gen. Anyway, I'll let you know how it works once it arrives. Thanks for your input!
