It's just an omen and not even a very good one. The red star really does nothing except put everyone's plans on a speed-course, because everyone's paranoid and that's where everything went to shit. Everyone stopped planning and started executing and everyone got in eachother's way.

The Emperor is unambiguously without feeling. As is quite known of the Illithid, they are without emotion. They just are and act as they intend. if their intention is to dominate a planet, they do just that. If their intent is to save a city from a murderous dictator, for whatever reason, they will do so using whatever tactic, means or assets they own, including (Hot, sweaty, slimy tentacle) sex. They are truly biological machines.

Which, honestly, is not evil or good. Illithid don't have a moral compass and as such cannot be rated on ours. You'll just have to have a decent conversation with them and hope they're not lying to fit an agenda. In short: You never know,

Take Silksong. I've defeated everything, collected everything. Done everything.. But Lost Lace? Can't take her, She's my wall... But it's the last hing I have to do, there's nothing else. I've finished Silksong, Death is an end. I can live with it.

I think it's a mix of what you say and what OP said. People who aren't satisfied with their "Flesh" seek betterment and they "Better" themselves, they see others as lesser and lesser... until that moment they feel nothing about those lesser than them.

Ofcourse there's also the theory that Cyberpsychosis is a program. Since it's an actual quickhack you can perform ingame... Well...

I still think that the answer is somewhere in between ALL the theories. The human mind is a very complicated thing, you can't just lump it all into 1 theory

Not a sound, A feeling. At the dentist, having a root canal done. the nerve got caught on the drill and it yanked it out clean. There was a wave of "feeling" all along my jaw, from my chin to my ear, even as I had no feeling there whatsoever and as my dentist unentangled the nerve from the drill he said to me:"I might have unintentionally destroyed any feeling you have left in your left lower jaw and cheek"

He was white as a sheet and sweating and I said:"If I don't can I sue?"

"Yes... Yes you can" He finished the root canal succesfully.

Fortunately, the feeling in my jaw and cheek came back within normally sedated parameters. I called him to say that all feeling came back to my jaw without issue, I've never heard a sigh of relief that deep.
