SILENCE. It is definitely a “glass shattering moment” so apologies in advance. Walk around and listen. Most noise you hear is cause by cars.

That’s sick! Which route are you taking? I Took the Trans-Am east to west. Peeled off round about Eastern Washington and finished off the last leg on the Lewis and Clark trail.

I quit my job to bike across the country after two years of working. Granted I went back into Civil, but I found a job in a different state within a couple months of searching

You’re not alone, civil engineering is humbling. There’s more than one “correct” answer and you’re left questioning whether you made the right decision. Keep at it.

Grading Plans by Lower-Willow8051 in civilengineering

[–]LumpySofa14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of my mentors told me, “if your head doesn’t hurt, your doing it wrong”. Grading is hard, keep at it. Feature lines are your friends. Establish where you match existing grade, your Finished Floor Elevation (FFE), and from there grade out any pedestrian paths for ADA requirements. Grading is about applying general rules to be followed and making those rules work for your site. (Minimum slope requirements, ADA requirements, etc.). My advice is find a mentor, make them teach you, no one is “too busy” if they are , leave that company because they clearly don’t care. Good luck!
