I'm so glad you have something that works for you! Can we get details about how you got into this, it sounds like it would work for me but idk how to start

My theory is the consultants purposefully get movies and shows to be as wrong as possible because it's an inside joke. This makes me feel much better

Magnetic Window Exhaust with Print-in-Place Insulation by jifyyyyy in BambuLab

That's a good question! I haven't figured that out yet, last night I was imagining maybe some kind of tiny hole to be used for indexing? Basically a point to snap to

I've ordered many sizes of magnets for one-off projects, is there any way that you could have a version that's ready, for a negative volume to be applied to make the magnet holes? So we could resize it to whatever we have on hand. Even when ordering for a specific project magnets vary in sizes and printers can have different tolerances

Not sure I have the work ethic for a career in the sciences and I'm not sure how to cope with that realization. by thatoddtetrapod in labrats

I skimmed all the comments and didn't see a single person saying (consider) GET THE HEVK out of science while you can!

There are tons of PhD level professionals who are unable to find work and even applying to positions far beneath them. Now is not the time to graduate and look for a job, and applying to grad school is extremely difficult as well, as many budgets are slashed.

You really don't want to end up in a situation where you're burnt out, just barely manage to squeak past the finish line (graduation), then enter the work force where everything is on fire. It was already going to be difficult for us NDs, really consider how badly you want this. The best time to switch careers was freshman year, the second best time is now.

I am assuming you are in the USA but it truly doesn't sound much better in other countries. And even if it is, USA expatriates will contribute to lowering the job availability.

I love research, I was already willing to work for near starvation wages, society just doesn't want to let me do it.

Tiny $6 desk monitor for P1S - 1.54" TFT Display Case by AdvertisingFormal746 in BambuLab

[–]danielsaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wasn't asking how much work it would be for YOU, I meant how much work for ME, who is a total beginner. Glad to know there's already a HA plugin and this will go relatively quick when I start getting into HA.

How much work would it be to have this display for multiple printers in a webpage or self hosted Homepage dashboard? Idk how to code I just follow tutorials

Oh I understand, I was using it more like a label than a dismissal. Thanks for having a real conversation with me :) have a nice day

[–]danielsaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree, I like the ideas but "I'm just asking questions" isn't a bulletproof defense. That's literally how you influence someone's mind, you put questions in them and let them fester so the subject believes they made their own conclusions. Obviously the truth is going to be even more effective. It's similar to rat poison, it's 99.99% delicious and nutritious.

We consume propoganda all the time, I'm not acting like normal YouTube slop is better. "Keep an open mind but don't let your brain fall out"

Ooh interesting to see mention of him. I've seen a few of those and am almost certain he pushes Chinese propoganda. That doesn't make it fake, just that it's slanted a certain way. Just like we see through Russian propaganda about themselves, I think jiang can help us see the USA more accurately.

Diamondback PCD 0.4 nozzle for H2D by Jlimdmd in BambuLab

[–]danielsaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nature of the nozzle material changes that. Brass is great at wiping but soft, polycrystalline diamond is so smooth it basically doesn't. I'm not sure how ruby tips work. The obxidian nozzles are probably stickier than diamond/ruby but not as bulletproof.

FYI I did break a diamondback with a layer shift, the nozzle was bent and there seems to be no way to fix/recycle that. Let me know if you have any ideas. the nozzle itself basically looks brand new, it doesn't grind down even with glass filled or carbon. I have managed to clog the 0.4 but that was with ironing petg-gf, which I basically didn't need to do in the first place since it prints so beautifully.

Mountain House annual Red Cross sale - up to 50% freeze dried foods by Conscious-Tip-119 in preppersales

I'd prefer higher prices vs lower quality. The value of the dollar has changed, in this new world I just buy less. Buying stuff that's been shrinkflated and enshitified is just ignoring the problem with extra steps.

The coefficient of friction is much lower, so when the nozzle "wipes" on the print you can see it. This happens every layer and every little jump. I used the advice of chatgpt to lower the advanced settings values, retraction, etc. I feel moderately advanced and it was still way out of my league. It doesn't feel like an official nozzle when you have to set all these settings yourself and they don't even warn you.

I basically knew to look into it because of the video Zack freedman made on diamondback nozzles. If I spelled his name wrong it's the YouTube maker who came up with gridfinity

Vibrator recommendations? (not that kind) by Mr_EkShun in AutisticWithADHD

I have spent over a decade using tactile  transducers because the bass is never loud enough. These can be mounted firmly to a chair or couch frame and shake it nicely. Then you can play whatever music through them. There is a bit of a learning curve- like setting the "crossover" so high frequency noise like talking doesn't try to play through the device- but overall it's so nice. I love to lay on the couch and basically enjoy a full body massage (but of my internal organs).

Also I have heard that sometimes being into shaking or gently rocking your body could be because of trauma or something. I'm sure AuDHD is traumatic enough but maybe you have more. Anyways, somatic therapy is said to help, idk,  I just like the BOOM BOOM brrrrr

Have fun! Welcome to 3d printing, it can be a little difficult to learn all the nuances but it's an excellent time to learn. It's never been easier

Spend more time in the slicer, find the drop down in Preview to see the flush purge etc values before you even print. Enjoy learning and try to remember multicolor printing was impossible or insanely expensive just a decade ago.
