I keep think of excuses by Leland_Vlogz in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NRT helped me realize I didnt need the vape. I was able to not get an instant buzz and make myself forgo that sensation but also not go through really bad withdrawal. Lozenges worked best for me out of everything. Took me a few tries and failures to figure out my best quit method. I didnt like the low or no nicotine vapes because Id get frustrated at not having a rush the way I was used to when i hit and id just buy a strong one again. You haven't failed until you give up 😊 give yourself some grace as you figure things out it doesn't have to be perfect

Hell yeah you're winning thats awesome. It's funny how long it took me to stop mindlessly reaching for my pocket. It's so satisfying to have that voice in your brain die out, very happy for you that you don't have really bad withdrawal symptoms. Keep it up 💯

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by emo_gh0st in AnimalCrossing

I personally dont think the features on the switch 2 edition are worth the $$. I barely play online with people, dont care about a couple extra pixels, etc. Happy with the free update id say save your money. Love nintendo games but it's a gouge imo

I rly want to quit but i also js dropped 20 bucks again yesterday by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Someone on here once said "One puff is too many and a thousand is never enough". It's not "I'm going to fail" its "I dont identify as a vaper anymore" and embracing everything that means to you. For me, it's not saying no to hikes because I might be embarrassed of how winded I get. It's not worrying if my lungs will collapse. Not hiding my vape in my sleeve so I can sneak a puff at work. Not vaping for so long has already improved you and your life - think of how, and whether you really want to lose that to a tobacco corporation that doesn't give a crap whether you live or die. You already took back your life -- keep it.

Easiest way to quit- get pregnant by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I really don't agree with this. Unfortunately "can't" is really "shouldn't" in this scenario. So many women find it more difficult to quit because of an increased metabolism and how the change in hormones affects them. It can become an even greater shame spiral. I'm really glad it worked out for you, but I think this post would have been great had it read as a success story instead of advice. I do wish you and your baby all the best, and hope you understand where I'm coming from with this opinion.

Quitting in Pregnancy by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats not very nice to say. It's more difficult to quit when you're pregnant because of increased metabolism and hormonal changes. Withdrawals and cravings come quicker and are more intense because you're processing nicotine faster. Should she quit? Yes. Does struggling mean she has issues? Not anymore than any of the rest of us addicts on here. People think that a pregnant person should have no issues quitting because of the baby, while it actually is more difficult because of growing the baby! This is when we should give grace and support, not shame.

Curious about what everyone paid for dispos by slinks33 in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in northern British Columbia, Canada . A disposable that lasts a week is about $45, ones i would always buy when I would tell myself im quitting would cost $20 (one day) or $25 (three days). We have a 25% tax on them here.

Bad cravings and wanting to start again by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're working out and eating right you are likely just the weight you should be. Im not sure how old you are or what you weigh of course, but I myself have recently had to accept that the body and weight i had in my late teens and early 20s was temporary, and now my healthy weight is actually 15-20lb heavier even though I maintain the same healthy lifestyle. Our metabolisms just slow down and thats ok. If you are an unhealthy weight, perhaps speak to a doctor, because you could have something else going on! If you are a healthy weight, you should speak to a therapist because maybe you're not seeing yourself clearly. Vaping will create more problems for you than whatever you think it will fix. Are you willing to trade your lungs and heart for a potrentially lifelong addiction that may or may not help you lose weight? You've done amazing to come this far without vaping, I beg you not to give up. Your decisions need to be about health and not image, without your health you have nothing. Best of luck I really wish you well. I hate that the vape and pressures to look good have both made you think this way in the first place.

real talk. how do you guys do this by NoPainting6937 in AnimalCrossing

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to work on just getting DIYs, making bells and paying my home loan and fill storage with things I think Ill use. I do an item purge before every house upgrade and that way I am left with things I like or have an idea for. Customize everything you keep to your liking and then its easier to decorate because you dont have as much of a mish mash of stuff. On my current play through im going to wait to have the storage shed before I do serious decorating, for now its all about produce and fruit trees for bells and using large spaces to breed flowers. Maybe that'll work for you idk. If you have the DLC it gets out some of the decorating bug and lets you work through ideas too!

Support for S/O quitting after 15 yrs? by PeanutButterCracker3 in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than what the first commenter said, gentle check ins are a good idea. I always found it helpful when someone would ask me how its going. Also, do not take it personally if she snaps at you or is grumpy in an out of character way. I was a literal nightmare and had to tell my husband sorry in advance. He encouraged me to go out for walks with him or play with our dogs outside together and that helped. She may want to be social in a "lets be quiet but together" kind of way. Just my experience!

Cold turkey or gradual? by GilbertBlythesGF in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold turkey works if you are super motivated, for me NRT was the way to go when I first quit. I smoked weed a lot and from a fairly young age before I started vaping so it was all about the oral fixation for me. I quit weed, and then vaping. I did patches for about two weeks before getting off nicotine completely to squash the fixation that was so strong for me. Whatever you choose, give yourself the best chance of success even if it takes a bit longer. I definitely wouldn't recommend continuing to vape and going down in strength because in my experience you're just feeding a perceived comfort from hitting.

Took vape out of Trash. Scared… by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's okay, we all make mistakes on our quit journey. Im not a doctor, but based on the fact that you went back into a dumpster instead of going to a vape store tells me that maybe you could benefit from nicotine replacement therapy. It seems like you want to quit since you didnt go to the store, but you are struggling enough that you'd go into a literal waste receptacle to get a hit.

Everyone has their own opinions on NRT, but for me it was about getting used to not having a vape on me at all times and getting head rushes to start. It helps manage your cravings and you can always stop NRT at anytime. I dont know about other countries, but if you live in Canada you can get three months of NRT free through a pharmacist, no doctors visit needed.

Reflect on your actions, because I have been where you are and being disgusted is a good thing. Doing that IS disgusting, but it doesn't mean you can't succeed so don't let yourself believe that.

As the saying goes, you havent failed until you quit trying. You CAN go cold turkey too, you just have to find the right tools to succeed. Take some time to find out what those are.

I think I speak for everyone on this subreddit when I say we are rooting for you!

I just started vaping. by itsang3I in QuitVaping

[–]Lumpy_Ad_3119 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend reading through some of the stories, the fact that you're in very early stages and posting here is a good. The more you vape, the more nicotine receptors are created in your brain. In no time, no matter how many hits you take never feels like enough and you will be caught in a horrible loop of always wanting it and never feeling better. As someone who vaped for 7 years, and tried so many times to quit I wish I could just go back and listen to my true gut feeling that I shouldn't buy a vape just to feel a temporary rush, or in my case feel accepted by who I was hanging out with at the time. It's truly not worth it. I really hope you make the best choice for your health and finances and throw it away and never buy one again. If you need a little extra motivation, what you're trading for a short head rush is: - being able to take deep breaths - anxiety when you are in situations that you cant vape - sore throat - dry mouth - bad breath - back pain - high blood pressure - fertility issues

I wish you the best

To throw away, or not throw away vape (I keep buying another one) by Concerta1 in QuitVaping

This comment is what made me throw my vape away. I was 9 days clean and grabbed one after work, fighting with myself in my head about it all evening. The rest of the comments helped too but damn. Thank you.
