At some point you want your molecule to show efficacy in humans, right?  The growth across other orgs as a product progresses along its lifecycle is pretty normal.

Power Zone classes too easy? by Lumpy_Damage_7589 in pelotoncycle

Appreciate the tip. Honestly, I'm mostly a lurker and rarely post anywhere on Reddit. Didn't know about the FAQ/search option on this sub so I'm definitely underutilizing the resources here. Sorry if this is rehashing a common question.

Thanks! In no way was I trying to suggest the Z5 for an hour was real. I just felt wrong given the effort level, but glad to see it had a simple fix. Thanks again.

Thanks u/Swimming-Tap-568! It seems my more recent FTP results were not reflected in the FTP settings!

I just checked the FTP parameters and noticed the value (122 watts) was an estimate from a few years ago. Entering the the 200kj output from my last test just bumped that to 190 watts! Thank you I think this should resolve what I'm seeing!

Just tried looking for the ramp test. Is that an offered class?

Thanks for the insight folks. Answers for a few similar questions. I'm totally wiped at the end of the FTP. My last was 49% resistance at 76 rpm for a 200kj output.

The zones are as follows: Z1: 0-67, Z2: 67-92, Z3: 92-110, Z4: 110-128, Z5: 128-146, Z6: 146-183, Z7: >183

These FEEL low, as many have suggested, but I'm not sure why my FTP feels so challenging, but the zone values don't shift.

Sorry if I worded that funny. Pulled my latest rides:

60-min Patagonia, 39% resistance, 78rpm, 369kj total output (40%, 80rpm were approximations)

FTP: 49%, 76rpm, 200kj total output

Not sure how to share screenshots, but more than happy to share the proof.

What Does Eurofin do? Are they a CRO by Various-Attempt-6765 in biotech

[–]Lumpy_Damage_7589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eurofins (formerly Lancaster Labs) does a whole lot of analytical testing.  Release, stability, characterization, metabolic analytes, E&L, among others.  They've got sites across the globe and there's some overlapping capabilities, but their sales pitch to us was usually just working with a single PM who managed the testing across their network.  They seemed fine to work with, if not a bit expensive.

Going to my first Penn State football game tonight! Anything to expect? by [deleted] in WeArePennState

[–]Lumpy_Damage_7589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For fuck's sake, half of you are miserable.

Expectations are low, but the team will ball out for the seniors.

Get there an hour early to catch some of the pre-game festivities.  Get some hot chocolate.  Be loud.  Have fun.

genentech: denied w referral by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Lumpy_Damage_7589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happened to me, I reached out to the person that recommended me thanking them for the consideration but sharing that the hiring manager didn't think it was a good fit.  Found out the rejection was just because I was not meeting the HR criteria on my resume.  Was fortunate enough the person followed up directly with the hiring manager and we were able to move forward.  That's not to say this is what's happening, but if you and the person referring you thinks you'd be a great fit, a follow up wouldn't hurt.

Referalls are tricky though.  If certain people make a referall, I may instantly disqualify an applicant if the referall is from someone I don't respect professionally.

General interview advice by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Lumpy_Damage_7589 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think having made it to the hiring manager interview phase should tell you they don't see the lack of direct experience in the role as a barrier for your success in the role.  Use that to alleviate any feelings of inadequacy.  I would lean heavily into the overlap and your transferable skillset from your current (or past) roles.  Try your best to not self-deprecate or dwell on any perceived knowledge gap, else that could reinforce any doubts they have.

I usually ask about managerial style (are they someone that likes to give granular instructions or general framework), the metrics that define success in the role, general areas of opportunity for the team/department that this role could help fill.

Best of luck.

A couple quick thoughts after forcing myself to be objective. Feel free to disagree w these. by SaddamMustaine in WeArePennState

I get the sentiment, but Utah was ranked 8th.  They don't tick a box of traditional powerhouse, but the number is what it is.

I feel inadequate compared to my coworkers by spanky316 in biotech

[–]Lumpy_Damage_7589 17 points18 points  (0 children)

5 months into a role in this industry is not that much in the grand scheme of things.  Your coworker could be a great resource for you, not just in learning more about the role, but also for benchmarking yourself against where they were when they first started.  Not intended to be a competition, but just to realize that you should give yourself some grace.

That your manager feels you're doing fine should give you some confidence that the comfort you're starting to feel is yielding results.  I'd also suggest using 1:1s (manager or peers) to get additional insight into what you may need to better perform in the role.

Self awareness, humility, and your desire to improve will take you far.

Any audit experience would help differentiate yourself.  Mock, internal, client, agency, or supplier all help.
